Christmas Wrapping Paper - 15M Rolls for $1 @ Bunnings

2030

I've been buying my Christmas wrapping paper from bunnings for the last few years. Can't go wrong with 15M rolls.

A few weeks back these were $3 per roll, which is still ridiculously cheap for a 15M roll. These are now $1! Won't find these cheaper anywhere..

How thick is it? Some Christmas paper is so thin it rips if you breathe on it.

    • +5

Does it really matter? It gets torn to bits anyway when someone gets it.

It matters if the paper rips ever time you try to wrap something with sharp corners.

    • I got it a couple of years ago and it was quite thin and ripped easily, haven't tried this year's though.

      How thick is it?

      60gsm

It’s pretty thick. Thicker than the Kmart offerings.

    • Why not get tis then.. will cost you more, last ages and it's recyclable.

No deal - give it a week or so and it'll probably be half the price.

Every OzBargainer should have their cheap rolls from last year to use for this year.

So it’s not a good idea to give my dad his present inside of the bcf click and collect bag it came in? 🤔

You must be wrapping and gifting your in-laws. I barely use 1-2mtrs of wrapping paper a year let alone 15m! 😂😂

    • +2

I've had the same roll of wrapping paper for the last 5 years.

Thank you for the tip OP. Will keep that in mind for next year.
Had to duck out to Coles earlier when I ran out of wrapping paper.
    Paid $3 for 5 metres .. sadness .

Though it wasn't quite as nice as the paper I bought earlier from Target which had grid lines on the back that makes it easier to cut in a straight line. Don't judge me..lol .. it helps after a drink or two.

Agreed. Those lines make cutting much easier! (With or without drinks lol)

    • I don't gift wrap… chocolate boxes are white and have a ribbon on them

      What's so special about Christmas

Every winter, Romans honored the pagan god Saturn, the god of agriculture, with a festival that began on December 17 and usually ended on or around December 25 with a winter-solstice celebration in honor of the beginning of the new solar cycle. This festival was a time of merrymaking, and families and friends would exchange gifts. At the same time, Mithraism–worship of the ancient Persian god of light–was popular in the Roman army, and the cult held some of its most important rituals on the winter solstice.

After the Roman Emperor Constantine I converted to Christianity in 312 and sanctioned Christianity, church leaders made efforts to appropriate the winter-solstice holidays and thereby achieve a more seamless conversion to Christianity for the emperor’s subjects. In rationalizing the celebration of Jesus’ birthday in late December, church leaders may have argued that since the world was allegedly created on the spring equinox (late March), so too would Jesus have been conceived by God on that date. The Virgin Mary, pregnant with the son of God, would hence have given birth to Jesus nine months later on the winter solstice.

How can wrapping paper companies afford to print these patterns when ink cost so much?

  • +1

are you kidding me right now?! i just bought a roll yesterday morning for $3 thinking i got a bargain!!! eurgh!!

    • I would think the best time to buy these would be during the post Christmas sales, but at $1 a roll, you can't be expecting it to come down too much more. :)

What was the point of showing this deal this morning when every store in the Perth W.A. area has no stocks.

    • +3

Because other states of Australia exist.

  • Is it like butchers paper? brown?

    • Nah it's proper rolls with designs. Look at the picture in the link.
      It's 1 for $1.

  • They were still $3 at my Bunnings today - Chatswood NSW. ? Store specific

Maybe the cheap ones sold out???

    • Did you check the price at the register? Maybe they didn't update the pricetag.

  • +1

Got a few, so much better value than what others sell.

    • Agreed. I find it does a pretty good job

lmaoooooooooooo wouldn't want to be your friend this Christmas and receive a present wrapped with your faded, dusty, crinkled old wrapping paper
let's be honest you'll probably get rid of it mid year when you realize it's just cluttering up your house and causing you anxiety
