    That might be another misprint.

    • Apology price?

    • There is no way it's not a misprint again. You couldn't buy one secondhand for $219.

How can they make this same mistake twice? Hopefully they get called out on the bullshit this time

    • +11

Because they don't care about laws or looking after customers, they know that in Australia the laws are not enforced and they can do whatever they like. The chances of the ACCC taking action is effectively ZERO.

      • +5

ACCC will investigate after it receives enough complaints. OBZ just needs a mass complaint effort. Wouldn't be hard for ACCC to fine them. Bit hard to justify the same misprint twice after they were made aware of the first one.

        • +2

Will they really though? I've yet to see a mass report from OzBargain do anything. Mass report to the proper and correct organisation… fair trade and you might get somewhere.

          • +1

@Clear: Just what I read a while back on some article on ACCC. I think it was them talking about how they prioritise investigations cause they don't have the resources to investigate all complaints. I have heard good things about NSW Fair trading holding companies to account to perhaps they might be the way to go.

            • +1

@lestat87: The ACCC publicly state they don't investigate individual complaints. Rather consumers should go to their relevant Fair Trade who will investigate and act.

        • -1

ACCC will investigate after it receives enough complaints.

ACCC will do nothing and the same applies for all similar organisations in Australia. We could put in ten thousand complaints and they should still do nothing but log it. They are a complete waste of money for the little that they achieve, they rarely conduct any enforcement, they settle for punitive penalties and offer no help to consumers.

Australia is an embarrassment when it comes to enforcing laws as they are not applied the same to all.

        • +1

The same ACCC that found no evidence of collusion in fuel prices.

          • @freakatronic: Because the higher the fuel price the more GST and taxable income.

          • +1

@freakatronic: The same ACCC that keeps allowing companies to be purchased by competitors and foreign companies because somehow reduced competition and increased prices is in our best interest.

            • +1

@Maverick-au: The ACCC is a religious organisation set up to implement neoliberal ideologies.

Professor Rodney Sims said in 2016 that there was a danger of the public losing faith in the neoliberal theory as if it was a religion.

Of course, religion doesn't have a large body of evidence showing that it's not true. Whereas Rodney the twat keeps writing reports saying that the economy is being destroyed because the theories aren't working out as far as predicting reality.

        • ACCC rofl hahaha

    • +2

Simple: A little term called "lead times".

As someone who works in marketing, you generally need catalogues at printers 3 weeks before they're due to be active. So this "deal" would have been approved for both catalogues, then sent to printers.

It's not feasible to re-print all the catalogues, so you issue an apology/retraction.

      • That makes sense..

  • +20

Their catalog generating computer has malware which reduces only Nintendo Switch lite price by 100 every time and prints apology for it as well.

    • +1

We may see misprint and apology for misprint in the same catalogue…

  • If 224 was a misprint then this must be too

  • +3

    Misprint again, surely

Suppose I'll get down voted again like last time hehehe

    • Dont worry, ive got your back, im part of the upvoting bandwagon!

  • +3

Their eBay store is only 94.8% positive. Just checked after the TCL TV price error

  • Is this the Boxing Day Catalogue?

    • 25 Dec–1 Jan 2020 so assume so

    • Yes it is.

      • See comment for more info

The hyperlink is struggling to load comment for me :(

    • +12

it's probably the April Fools Catalogue lol

  • +27

there should be a law on how many misprints they are allowed until having to honor. I say once !

    • +3

There should be a law that once they distribute their catalogue in the mailboxes they should honour the price.

    • +3

There should also be a law where your costs are covered if you travel to the store and they refuse to sell you one claiming a price error.

      • +1

That happened to me on Thursday, even after I called first to double check. She said yes come in. Dude waved the sign at me saying it was a misprint and sent me on my way.

  • +4

The good guys got away with it last time with barely any complaints so they done it again. Please don't move this to the forums like the last post- https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/505561

  • They would be making a loss on this if it were a legit price.

    • -1

Most retailers make a loss on consoles. I used to work at JB and they were mostly always prices below wholesale price.

      • Maybe once a blue moon, but that can't be right most other times.

        • +4

Was surprised too. But the reliance was to price them as cheaply as possible so people would come in and buy games along with a console or game bundles.

I remember we periodically would almost run out of consoles and we reserved them for those who came in for advertised bundles.

In saying all the above this was a long time ago, before JB even started selling preowned games.

          • @cute as duck: Consoles are generally sold at RRP, it's games that are heavily discounted to get people in the store to buy accessories and other things with bigger margins. It doesn't make sense selling consoles at a loss for retailers, and I've never seen them doing it. If they want to they just create their own bundles with games rather than discount the price.

          • @cute as duck: It's still like that. Scanning up a PS4 still nets a -$60.

      • +1

Below 'invoice' cost or below net cost?

There's usually a decent difference in the two.

      • They dont buy at wholesale price

        • -1

          Yes sorry didn't mean wholesale.

      • But JB sells most things near RRP? They are not known for absurdly deep discounts on consoles…

        • They are not known for absurdly deep discounts on consoles

That's because the margins are so low at RRP that the price between retailers are usually around the same mark even during sales. I haven't worked in JB in over decade so can only comment during the period I worked there but recall my JB was selling PS2 consoles at a $12 loss or something.

Someone further below is advising this one is again a pricing mistake (second one in a row for this console) from TGG

      • +4

When I worked at Betta there would be a bunch of supplier rebates on items that I could only see if I logged in as an upper management. Sometimes would be from warehouse under a special deal they negotiated. Others directly from supplier & sometimes multiple at once lasting covering different time periods. If I looked at the net without the rebates visible it would make price matching look below cost when it wasn't. No idea how JB does theirs & I know there isn't much in consoles & Sony+MS have sold theirs at a loss in the past relying on accessories & games for profit.

        • No idea how JB does theirs & I know there isn't much in consoles & Sony+MS have sold theirs at a loss in the past relying on accessories & games for profit.

You explained it a lot better than I could cheers. I imagine it is the same with JB (I never had access to this sort of info) and others, that's why all competitors sale prices are very similar during sales with these rebates on offer.

  • +13

This is about the right price for it though, lol

    • +5

      It really is.

    • +3

About $250 is fair. The $329 RRP is a joke

  • +6

Tell you what, if they actually honor it this time I'll pick one up for the shit of it.

    • +3

Alright, you better keep your word - I’m watching you powsalski.

      :P

      • Not surprised, just disappointed.

Google Nest Mini is free if you have Google music or YouTube premium account. Ship directly from Google to your premise.

    • +1

That is only bid you had account before sept

    • Not for everyone, plenty of people can't get a free one.

      • $57 is still steep for what this is

    • Hey many thanks mate…had no idea, must of missed that. Just ordered my free mini.

    • I have Youtube premium, can you tell me how to get the Google nest mini? Thanks and merry xmas

  • Hmm. Wish I still had good guys commercial to see if it’s even cheaper.

    • +3

Still showing as $324 but let’s see once the sale begins.

    • Corporate never has better prices on consumer products like the switch.

I've got access and only ever set slight discounts on products for work,

      • Probably. I remember getting a decent price on an iPad but they probably count as work products.

  • smart clock VS nest mini

    • +1

I have both. The smart clock is great for being a clock but not so great as a speaker the nest mini blows it out of the water for sound but doesn't show the time. however, I prefer the clock as it has far more users than a mini and can do almost everything the mini can do. Clock far better value IMO.

  • Interesting how it starts Christmas Day when no where is open!

    • Not really. It's online or instore. You can buy this online on 25th. Trend is to start Boxing Day sales start early on 25th due to online shopping

    • Interesting how it starts Christmas Day when no where is open!

Interesting that you're posting on this website which is open 24/7 with no requirement for staff to "man" it.

Surely you can work out that their website will be operational on Christmas Day?

It is probably someone just faking these. There is no official material from The Good Guys that has this information on a mass scale. It is always one unknown source and poorly photographed. It is someone just faking them.

    • +1

These deepfakes are getting outta control.

    • You sure it’s fake? I’ve seen the catelogue. It’s seemed pretty legit to me?

  • +2

I was in a good guys today country vic and already had a corrections notice up about catalogue error

          • -1

@capslock janitor: That was yesterday I’m back home now
I saw this post after I was In tgg
If u call up a store they will let u no

    • That was probably from last weeks catalogue where they made a similar mistake- https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/505561

    • The question is why they didn't put this up on the website? They should be forced to sell them at this price as they have had time to run press and online advertising to correct the error.

        • +1

No, I mean for this error. What will happen is they will publish something saying this is an error days after the catalog goes live and a week after distribution. They know this is an error and they could have stopped distribution of the catalogs but they chose not to do this as they want to benefit from the other products

They want their cake and to eat it as well. The law needs to change, your distribute a catalog with a known error and you have to honour that error.

  • +11

Come in and see the Goof Guys

  • +5

So it seems the blind up voting has now passed on from eBay to Good Guys….

    • +1

Yep. Worst part is if this turns out to be a pricing error again, all those + can't be turned in to -

  • +1

100% price "error". I don't know what game GG are playing.

    • +10

What are you talking about lol? The Switch Lite has been selling like (profanity) crazy

The failure of people to recognise sarcasm is hilarious.

        • Or maybe your ability to portray sarcasm through language is superior to the rest of us ;)
