  • wait wait wait are you saying everything from Dell except from outlet will net us 16% cashback?

    • -2

As long as you abide by all the conditions. And there are a lot.

      • huh what conditions? Can't seem to find any conditions. Only these:

Cashback is not available via the Dell Outlet Store.

Cashback may be ineligible if using coupon codes not listed on Cashrewards.

Alienware monitors are classified as Alienware for the purposes of cashback.

        • Then abide by those conditions and you will be fine.

          • @Muzeeb: You said there was a lot but there’s only a few conditions

            • @MuddyClear: Plus all the purchasing conditions like clear your cache, don't have an item already in your cart, don't use the back button, don't friggin sneeze. All to get 20 cents in 90 days time.

      • may be ineligible if using coupon codes not listed on Cashrewards.

Will the automatically applied Discounts by Dell affect eligibility?

  • Is it worth to buy XPS15 now or wait?

    • +3

I would wait personally, for a Dell deal with discounts that are either automatically applied or a code approved by CR.

I can speak from experience that unlisted codes will get tracked from Dell with SB, but can't confirm with CR.

If you have a credit card with shopper's protection, then any time there's cashback is a good time to buy.

In terms of what's coming up, I believe the XPS series gets refreshed early in the year. I don't know what they have coming up for H series CPUs though. Will they get a 10th gen refresh? The current 10th gen (both Ice and Comet Lake) is low TDP only. Might be worth waiting for that if you don't need it now.

      • Thanks man!

        • i'm personally waiting for an update to the XPS 15 2-in-1 without the Y processor.

I want at least a U processor if not H.

          • @lostn: Will that ever happen? I thought only the Inspiron line had the u processor. The h processor has better performance but not as great battery life

            • @witsa: i have no idea, just speculating.

But the XPS 13 2-in-1 had Y processor until it was updated to parity with XPS 13. Maybe they will do the same with the 15 line?

The U processor is being used in the XPS 13 and 13 2-in-1. I call it U because Ice Lake is still equivalent in TDP to a U processor. As in, it's above Y and below H.

I don't know what they're going to do with the XPS 15 range. Intel have made a mess of their nomenclature. It does need an update though.

      • What dis means? "have completed the Price Verification section of the claim form (if the item is reduced by more than $200 and you do not have the original catalogue, advertisement or promotional flyer (with a printed visible date) from the store of purchase showing the new reduced price);"

        • no idea. Who is asking for it?

          • @lostn: me :)

            • @capslock janitor: i can't tell what you're trying to do or who is asking you these questions. Is it Harvey Norman?

              • @lostn: credit card pricey protection

                • @capslock janitor: which card? Yours sounds limited if it has to be a catalogued item.

                  • @lostn: Latitude 28 Degrees MC, you..?

                    • @capslock janitor: That's what I use also, but they never ask me what they asked you.

                      • @lostn: It's one of the 'requisites/points/reminder/checklist' I noticed that comes up when doing the Online claim.
But I don't think I've had to lodge $200 or more in a single claim yet.

Have you ever claimed more than 200 at once, or in total for the item?

                        • @capslock janitor: yes. And I did not get these questions.

They just asked for proof and I provided them a screenshot.

    • Wait. The new AMD mobile chips should be announced at CES in a couple of weeks and are expected to be great.

Tiger Lake expected in the first half of 2020 and look potentially awesome for mobile also.

      • is it not safer to let the early adopters raise all the issues to be rectified?

        • +1

Not in this case for these mobile cpus. Amd will be based on Zen2 technology which is well established.

Tiger Lake is a further development of Intels 10nm CPU process and will also include their brand new Xe graphics process. So in that case yes, there are grounds for being cautious about that aspect if you're the cautious type.

However it's onboard graphics so there would seem to be limits how badly they can screw it up. Both these new CPUs are (very arguably, but in my opinion) the first time a laptop will perform very well and efficiently without a GPU, even for games

I am thinking to get the 34 Alienware monitor, that with 16% cashrewards makes the price very tempting.
    What do you guys reckon

    • $1254.96. Ah but I am eyeing CRG9 for ascension

      • Damn I can't afford the rest of the gears required to run that beast lol

    • "Alienware monitors are classified as Alienware for the purposes of cashback." Does this mean it is or isn't included?

      • I don't know. But I bought one and will sure as hell contest it if they don't pay out. It doesn't say you have to buy dell products, just use the dell store.

It also doesn't say alienware excluded.

        • +2

Got my confirmation. All good with alienware monitors

  • Tried the "DELL shop now" link but then get me a back page?

  • +1

Wait so are we saying that if I get this deal

    https://www.dell.com/en-au/shop/dell-laptops/inspiron-15-700…

It'll give me 16% on top of the existing $1000 discount?

    • yes

  • Is the G3 15 with a 1660TI a good purchase for $~1300 after cash back?

Looking for something to replace our very old Q6600 desktop from 2003… updated our graphics card back in 2013 which has done the job for basic needs for our RTS games… but want something a bit more space saving in the study.

Note that it won’t get much use other than the occasional pc game. We use tablets and work laptops for all our other needs.

    • Link?

    • If you're only interested in using it for PC gaming you're much better off with a desktop. I'd recommend one of the Techfast boxing day deals as Dell desktops are very painful to upgrade or replace parts.

      • Thanks - this I understand, but I don’t want a desktop. Prefer something minimal.

Most my gaming needs are satisfied on console. This is purely for RTS type games which I don’t find fun to play on console.

  • Will this work for Alienware monitors ?
Usually has a different cashback for Alienware monitors but doesn’t say here

    • I got my confirmation that it worked on alienware

  • I just bought the Alienware monitor via the cashrewards website - paid using paypal (as guest on Dell, didn't register to Dell).

I hope this is not an issue? I didn't get any email confirmation from cashrewards saying they confirmed my purchase…. sorry first time using it.

    • Which one did you get out of curiosity?

      • +1

The new AW34 inch one - that's a really good price for a newly released monitor.

  • +2

Looks like SB is 16% as well. https://www.shopback.com.au/dell-australia

  • Anyone confirm that you can still get cashback or codes are used ? Maybe form previous deals ?

  • Velocity store is currently doing 4x points (so it's 8 per $1) which seems pretty high. So that Alienware monitor would net over 11k points. Could be a good alternative for some people.

  • Are those Alienware laptops included in the deal?
Anyone knows when does the cashback deal end?
    Thanks!

    • They should be eligible, possibly ends after today? not sure

  • +1

The codes SPECIAL100 and EPP5 still work, does cashback work whilst using them?

    • Cashback may be ineligible if using coupon codes not listed on Cashrewards.

Can't find it on CR, you risk invalidating it if you do

    • +1

those work with SB which I hear is at 15% right now.

They might work on CR too but I haven't been bold enough to try it.

      • +1

How do you know they work with ShopBack until they hand over the money?

        • +2

because I have done it multiple times and got the money.

          • @lostn: thanks shopback it is

          • @lostn: I couldn't find TC's for Dell SB, is it sitewide? I'm tossing up between 14" Vostro, Inspiron, Latitude.

            • @capslock janitor: expired yesterday.

              • @lostn: I meant SB still 15% I can see on app..?

                • +1

                  @capslock janitor: there's no Dell-specific T&Cs.

                  Tips to ensure Cashback
To ensure your Cashback is successful:

Cashback tracking is most optimal on Google Chrome browser
Clickthrough ShopBack again if there's any error
Use only promo codes from ShopBack
Please turn Adblock/uBlock off and close all open tabs
Read Other Terms and Conditions below

                  Cashback is not qualified for:

Promo codes or voucher codes not approved by ShopBack
Gift card purchases unless otherwise stated
                  Returns, exchanges & cancellations
Purchases through the Dell mobile app and Dell Outlet purchases
Negotiated offers (for example through live chat and the phone)

                  • @lostn: I've honed in on the Vostro 14 5490 too bad no silver palmrest lol - hopefully no issue like static. Guess I can exercise my right for refund though..

On top of the SPECIAL100 , EPP5 , also Boxing5 on their website, would you know it's all stackable and eligible? TIA

                    • @capslock janitor: they won't all be stackable. Pretty sure you can only use one of the three, and if you try to stack them they will replace one another. Boxing5 might stack. Just try it.

          • @lostn: Just confirming, you've applied the exact code EPP5 to your orders before and ShopBack has tracked them successfully without trouble? Really don't want to run the risk of losing ~$300 (15% cashback) in the process of saving ~$100 (EPP5 code) when I buy my laptop, so please let me know :)

            • @dogsryummy: EPP codes change all the time. I have not used these specific ones, but have used a range of EPP codes in the past and SB did track them and I got paid.

I can't make guarantees. Maybe they could change it and it won't work this. All I'm saying is that it worked as recently as this year.

But still, use at own risk. I'm not going to be held responsible if you don't get it. I would feel bad, so I would actually advise you not to use it. I myself would take the risk, but that's me.

              • @lostn: SPECIAL100 didn't get tracked for me with ShopBack. Far out. Hoping I can cancel the order, it's a huge loss missing out on it.

                • @fLaMePrO: It takes a few days. Give it time. And then try chasing it up with Shopback.

                  • @lostn: Yeah I already did, they rejected my claim.

                    • @fLaMePrO: That's unfortunate.

Good thing Dell lets you cancel or refund orders with their 14 day satisfaction guarantee. I'd take that up. If they haven't shipped it yet, may as well cancel.

I have problems with tracking using Shopback even when there's no codes used. I've found them unreliable.

                      • @lostn: Yeah I might do that. I'll have to wait for another cashback increase but probably worth it in the end. Using my 28 degrees for it so upfront price isn't so important.

  • +3

Looks expired/reduced. Down to 12% CR

  • This was ultimately an inferior deal for buying an XPS laptop. They were 15% off on Boxing Day, plus this 16% cashback. After Boxing Day, XPS became 20% off and cashback has stayed at 12%, so it's actually better to buy one now than on Boxing Day. Woe is me.

    • If you use a credit card with shopper's protection, higher cashback is always a better deal than lower sticker price. This is my preferred way to shop now. I'll pay more up front if it means a higher cashback or some redemption deal is in place (accessory, gift card or store credit).

You will end up paying the lower sticker price after a claim, but get a higher cashback, and that 16% will have been based on a higher sticker price, getting you even more cashback than if it was 20% off.

      • Are any of the Dell upsells worth it?

Offtopic: do you run your Shoppers CC payment thru Paypal when available? Or doesn't matter?

The EPP5 (any codes) shouldn't negate price claim right?

        • +1

You mean accessories they want you to buy?

I would wait. And only get it when they're discounted. Dell will send you a store credit worth 5% of the price you paid for the laptop ($100 for a $2000 laptop). Use that to buy your accessories instead. It does require a minimum spend of double the credit amount though. So to use your $100 credit, you have to spend a minimum of $200.

Also, keep in mind that anything you buy at Dell is covered by a 30 day price guarantee. If the price drops they will refund you the difference, but you have to remember to ask for it. If you also paid on your 28D card, you can claim price protection from them too and double dip. Do 28D's claim first though.

Offtopic: do you run your Shoppers CC payment thru Paypal when available? Or doesn't matter?

You can. I do that with ebay. But I always pay direct if possible. It doesn't actually matter though.

The EPP5 (any codes) shouldn't negate price claim right?

          They didn't for me.

          • @lostn: Not just accessories, the 'Accidental/Insurances' and any the pro/Support services too

            • +1

@capslock janitor: Oh that stuff, nah. I don't.

I've heard you are covered for 2 years via ACL even if you only have 1 year warranty.

I wish you could opt out of Office "Trial" versions and McAfee.
