[PS4] The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Game of The Year Edition - $17.95 @ PlayStation Store AU

1690

This has been discounted again on the Playstation Store for anyone who missed it last time. A good buy as stock levels of physical copies in stores are very low at the moment (given the Netflix show’s popularity).

Toss a coin to your PS Store, oh valley of plenty.

  • +7

    Hmmm wind’s howling

    • +2

      Looks like rain…

  • +8

stock levels of physical copies in stores are very low

More people are playing TW3 than at launch which is kinda crazy.

    • +8

Sales are up, streaming is up, Andrzej Sapkowski is getting paid big bank and is now grumbling somewhat less. It's money all round.

      • +2

he deserves it, the game was so immersive.
In fact one of few PC Games where I never skipped any dialogues.

Try Assassins Creed from III onwards, Im smashing the space-bar at every dialogue.

        • +2

Oh absolutely, the developers are amazing.

        • +2

Sapkowski has literally nothing to do with the dialogue in the Witcher series games. The games are essentially fan fiction that continue from where the books left off.

        • +3

He's talking about the author of the book who doesnt have squat to do with the game other than provide the lore for the devs to rely on.

He was very bitter about the game, probably because he never had faith that the game would do well and asked for a relatively small lump sum for the rights to make the games. He even made the suggestion that the games actually hurt the sales of his books….

Of course that's probably changed now that he's getting money for the merch and tv show

  • +4

$16.63 with Xbox Gold Sub or Play For Free with Xbox GamePass.

    • +4

      "free"

    • Gamepass got the dlcs?

      • Can currently see 16 game add-ons marked as free on the Microsoft store.

Only one hour left for the above price to buy under the Gold Subscription.

The GOTY edition is showing as $23.98 separately.

    • +1

Not GOTY version like the PS4

      GOTY is $23ish

      • Yeah but there were 16 additional add-ons also available for free.

        • Ahh ok sorry

Does it play and look better on Xbox one?

    • xbot??…vomit

  • Why cant they have this price for PC 😭

    • +3

Playstation can potentially loss lead, particularly with Witcher on Netflix currently streaming on their platform.

If it's PC you're after, it's a decent deal for ALL The Witcher games bundled over at GOG @ $40.77 at the moment and all revenue going to CD Projekt. Even the first Witcher is going for $2.09 and The Witcher 2 for $4.09 standalone.

      • +9

You dont loss lead on a 5 year old video game selling it for $18.

    • +6

It's only $23.69 on GOG at the moment for PC.

      • +1

It's till an amazing value proposition for the size and scope of that game at less than $30.

      • +1

Yeah, thats normal sale price on steam. Its never go under $20 for the GOTY version in PC…

      • There's a complete the collection offer going on at the moment.
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/509718

I already owned The WItcher 3 and I picked up all the others for around $11.

    • It was $23 on steam, prob still on sale too

      • It's not. $79 aud ATM :(

  • -3

Maybe this will motivate me to finish it, couldn't proceed after a certain character was killed. The feels :(

Edit: And for those who like pain, Dark Souls 3 base game is $13.95

  • +1

    Hmm.

  • After enjoying Japanese geralt on soul calibur 6, I'd like to replay the entire game in Japanese

  • +7

game of the decade for me

  • I got this game but got bored after 20 minutes.
Is it really that good and worth another shot?

    • +12

Tutorials are generally quite boring.. maybe give it another shot and get past the tutorial?

    • Took me a few hours to get into it. Done 100 or so hours now, thoroughly enjoyed it.

    • +1

this game took me about 10 hours to really get into the swing of it. i wanted to give up many times but stuck with it, glad i did, best game of the generation IMO

    • +1

Agree with the rest, bought it 2 years ago played 2-3 hours of it, didn't feel hooked. But recently just tried again after finding out The Witcher is now on Netflix. Played about 30-40 hours of the game and still very much hooked. The game is just so detailed, you could finish the game quickly or you could do all the side quests and explore other areas of the game. Worth giving another go.

    • Wow really I'm sucked into it haha.. I've just started playing a few days ago

    • bought it like two years ago, took me 3 tries to get into it, it was only after watching the netflix series which i got back into it and im having an absolute blast and am absolutely immersed.

  • +5

Disgusting game full of violence and sexual deviancy!

I don't understand how people can enjoy this instead of say pacman gwent…

    • +9

Yo, we heard you like to game while you game so we put a game in your game so you can game while you game

    • +1

That’s what I loved so much about final fantasy viii. Triple triad was part of the reason why that became my favourite game of all time. And that game was released back in ‘99

  • i got the ps4 disc version for $38 dollars from ozgameshop few days ago. It's currently out of stock again but anyone who are interested should keep an eye on it.

  • Wish the Switch version was this cheap. I already own it on PS4 and never finished it, I find playing games on my TV too inconvenient, I want hand held! I don't even know where my PS4 is lol

    • +1

I know it’s not as convenient but you can pair a ps4 controller to a Mac/pc, tablet or phone and play it on your phone etc. at home. You just need the ps4 remote play app

      • wow never heard of that before, cheers

  • +1

I would highly recommend playing this game on a PC so that you can install mods like this: https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/3522

The combat system in the vanilla game is pretty awful, which is unfortunate as the rest of the game is near perfect.

    • +1

Oh nice just saw this. Will have to give this a look - thanks!

      • +1

        You're welcome.

For a first play through you might want to go with the Ghost Mode mod instead, which fixes a lot of the broken stuff in the original game whilst still being close to the vanilla experience.

        https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/992/?

W3EE is pretty hardcore and could get very frustrating for a first play through, unless you like a challenge.

I would also recommend this mod for improving the vanilla textures https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/1021/

  • Would you recommend this on PS4 or PC?

  • +2

U can. Get Witcher 1 free if you download the envy card game from gog. Just google Witcher free.

    https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.ozbargain.com.au/node/48156…

    • Just did this. Thanks!

  • -1

I remember playing it on ps4 it was fun. and then after long time, i played it on pc,4k,ultra setting and oooo man… it was just breathtaking. The first ride with Vesemir, it was just wowww. From 2015 till now i have same theme(Geralt & Ciri) on ps4.

    • -2

Playing on 65" OLED ps4 pro at 2k was better than playing 4k on my pc.

      • Connect your PC to your OLED tv?

        • -1

          I have a 4k monitor…..

          • @onlinepred: But aren't you saying the OLED is giving you a better PQ? I've got the same issue - just bought it on PC, but realised I miss the contrast/blacks/HDR etc that the OLED offers. Too much effort to plug PC into the TV.

            • @mith: I'm saying that on my 4k OLED with ps4 pro at 2k, it looks far better than running 4k on my ips PC monitor.

Yea I plugged my pc into the tv a few times, too much effort though. I've been using my steam link successfully recently though, but only while using a gamepad, not KB and mouse.

  • Can someone point me towards a good deal for the PC version ? Much appreciated.

  • +1

It took me a long while to get into the game too.

The show… I just finished the season and it’s that rare specimen of me watching 8 episodes and I’m not sure whether I like it or not… it was a bit of a mess early in the season tbh and ultimately became a bit of a slog to get through.

Cavill is wonderfully cast as the main man though! He IS Geralt.

    • No one could say (profanity) better in my opinion

      :( I've been censored

  • How come I can't find DLC? I can only see the expansion pack…

  • +1

Put in a few Witcher 3 shifts this week.

Shamefully about 20 hours dedicated exclusively to Gwent.

    What a game…

  • -7

This has been the same price for a few years now… pretty ridiculous how much they're cashing in on an average game/show.

  • Hmm

  • Bear, bear! Run you stupid piece of $hit!
