Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro 6GB/64GB Dual Sim $288.80 delivered, available in:

Bought this phone for a family member over Xmas and it's really good. So much value for money.

Just found this price so I can claim price protection insurance on a 28 Degrees Mastercard. I've claimed price protection from them previously and it works if anyone is interested.

hey op. welcome. id recommend adding the specs of this phone (find them on previous posts) and last best price on ozbargain. good luck

  • Have 28 degrees re-introduced their price protection policy? I can see it on their website but was told a few months ago it was only for existing card holders and not for new (as of October/November 2019)?

    • Not sure sorry… got mine in August 18. Still works for me.

    • +2

Not for new customers. Only existing

    • The website currently says

Existing policy holders can find product information below. Note, we are not currently issuing new policies.

The Mi 9 Lite in White is also on sale for a little more, this phone offers a non Mediatek chip, and OLED for a little more. I was personally stuck between the 2 but went the Mi 9 Lite for it's OLED screen.

    https://www.tobydealsau.com/en_AU/product/xiaomi-mi-9-lite-6…

Also, please note that I ordered the Mi 9 Lite on the 18/12/2019 and it still hasn't been shipped yet, so don't listen to TobyDeals of it says in stock. They still don't have an ETA for my shipment.

    • Can you (or anyone) think of a reason other than local stock to get a Samsung A70 over one of these two?

      Thanks

      • +1

the RN8P has a pretty big lead in benchmarks over the a70 (edit: the mi 9 lite scores about the same as the a70)

Big beautiful AMOLED screen. Even the Mi 9T AMOLED screen can't compare with A70 apart from novelty all screen no notch aspect. Just because it's AMOLED it doesn't mean the same, Samsung A series do have pretty great AMOLED screen for their price point even against other AMOLED.

oh please dont glorify a70 my galaxy S4 had better camera than that

    • I'm in the same boat for the same phone (Mi9 lite).

First time buying through TobyDeals, however I'll give it 1 more week to ship and then go for a chargeback if not shipped.

      • +1

No need to charge back! Just ask for a refund and they will happily oblige.

People really need to stops abusing the charge back system, it's become a joke. It in fact really needs a complete overhaul and more protection for the seller, with banks and credit card companies actually taking responsibility for a broken credit card system with zero security.

    • I contacted tobydeals on Monday and got they said all colours are sold out except for 64gb Grey. They were expecting more stock to arrive in the next 5 days. Not sure how accurate they are though.

I purchased the Mi 9 Lite for my partner back in November, she loves it and so do I to be honest. Regret not buying one for myself 😂

      • Good to hear!

  • How is the Camera and battery life of Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro and Mi 9 Lite compared with Pixel 3 and Samsung A70?

    • Camera: Samsung A70 < Mi 9 Lite = 8 Pro (quite hard to say, 8 Pro does something better while 9 Lite does others better) < Pixel 3. Samsung A70 camera is not up to par even in its price bracket, the A71 is what you should look out for camera (same 64MP sensor as Note 8 Pro).

Battery life: Pixel <<< A70 = Mi 9 Lite < 8 Pro. Unfortunately, based on GSMArena battery life test Pixel battery life basically lower as the generation number goes up.

  • bought the note 8t from Toby's deals took 5 days for order to be processed and shipping I received within 3 days trust worthy site

    • +1

im still waiting for my 8T. Ordered mine on 18/12/19. Emailed them and they said they are still looking for stock and sold out. They replied later on and said they found stock and will have them by the 8th of this month.
In saying that my previous orders have been good and fast like yours. Just wish that they would take stuff offline if they are actually sold out or atleast have them listed as pre-orders or something

  • +2

Thanks op, that seems like a killer deal for the note 8 pro. How good is the 28 degrees price protection! I've used it a few times now 👍

    • +1

Its ridiculously good! I recommend it to everyone.

      • and for us fortunate enough to have signed up for it before it was cancelled for new signups…coles mastercard account cover plus!! 2 Years price protection..bloody brilliant!

        • So jealous right now… especially if coles are as good n no fuss on claims like 28 degrees

  • Is this a global version? Does it have B28?

    • +1

International version. It has B28 (700MHz)

  • Hi guys, Can someone rank below phone in terms of Camera and battery life?

    Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro
    Mi 9 Lite
    Pixel 3

  • No NFC?

    • The note 8 pro i bought had NFC support in options but haven't tested it. 95% sure its supported

    • Where did it say it doesnt have nfc?

      • +1

Why would the specs say it doesn't have feature!?
        Nowhere does it mention NFC.

        • +1

          On website under specifications

          Wireless:
          Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac
          NFC Yes
          Bluetooth V5.0

    • international does have b28 and NFC

  • +5

128gb version is $310, if you're willing to spend the extra $22 for double storage. Comes with generic screen protector and pleather case too

    • Or see main post for $303 minus those extras

  • Helio G90T - i have 2 mediatek devices looks good on paper my real world performance isnt great. Lag is google maps, bogs down much faster than even a mid to low range snapdragon. They also dump android support quicky dooming the device to few android updates. Hard Pass

    • This was my main issue with the Note 8 Pro and why I went the Mi 9 Lite.

Once support is dropped by Xiaomi, it's up to the ROM creators to make new updates and it seems none want to touch the Mediatek chipsets.

    • +1

Isn't that a bit like saying i bought a celeron once, it was slow so now i dont buy intel?

the g90t is fast, check the benchmarks and game tests. I havent had anything run slow or "bogged down" on this.

      • One thing the reviews say about this is that yes, the chip is speedy, but it's not as efficient. The bigger battery helps with that, but if it had one of those SD chips it would last longer with same performance. But that would obviously affect price.

  • My experience is buying the Xiaomi with a snapdragon chipset. You can install Google camera app porting from gg Pixel. This will increase significantly the photo quality of the phone. I bought redmi note 7 for my aunt and the photos from gg cam is even better than my Samsung s10

Ps: redmi note 8 pro in this post doesn't use snapdragon

  • If we have to compare camera of this phone with any other brand flagship phone, which would similar cam flagship phone eg Samsung s10? Huawei P30 etc?

    Best Nose 8 deal ever.

Abit outside the topic. I haven't bought from Tobydeals before. Are they trust worthy?
