  • Worth to invest on Wear OS? Any owners have experience on it to share?

    • Depends what OS your phone is running.
iPhone will work, but you lose access to a heap of features.

      • Andriod user. Galaxy note 9

        • You may want to look at the Galaxy Watch as an alternative.
I believe that Tizen runs a lot smoother and more streamlined, although others will be able to comment more clearly on that.

(For reference, I'm running a first gen Huawei Watch. Used to have it paired with Galaxy S8, now with iPhone XS Max.)

You should check out reviews. WearOS is lagging (haha) behind the other makers. Hardware is awesome though.

That's a spot-on review. WearOS is definitely what drags it down.

I reboot my watch every few days to avoid connection issues, the same way ten years ago you used to reboot windows every now and then "just in case". That seems to do the trick, but you really shouldn't have to.

I am about to sell my Samsung galaxy to get the Fossil because of Wear OS.
I've used Wear OS before, and it is miles away from Samsung's.

Like using ' ok google' to seeing google maps on your watch (Google maps on your watch has to be purchased on the Samsung Galaxy)

I went from Gear s2 to carlyle leather brown, I ended up gifting it to my old man as it was too slow and laggy for me, so many issues for basic things like reading messages, maintaining connection to phone etc

    • I've currently got this watch (in grey) and it's quite good. I tried the Ticwatch Pro, but it was really laggy, it does have half of the RAM that this one does, so makes sense.

The fossil is also a better design and less bulky than the Ticwatch. But I can't comment on wearos vs others.

I have a google pixel 3xl and it pairs well with it.

  • I think price can get much lower soon

    • Fossil watches seems pretty consistent with sales in Australia. 30% off ($350 for this model) is pretty much as good as it gets until the next generation is out in six months.

Check ozbargain for Gen 4 sales in 2019, gen 3 2018, gen 2 2017. Same trend every year.

      • Only way to get it cheaper will be to purchase it from America. They had the Gen5 for $169, which is about $280ish delivered. Unfortunately good luck finding any place that will post to Australia, unless you have a forwarding postage address.

The coupon is for eBay Plus members only.

This watch is currently $399 on the Iconic with $14.50 cashback from Shopback. Looks like only black is available though.

I've received mine and been playing with it iver the past 5 Days now. Gen5 is synced to my Pixel 4XL. Comparing the Gen5 with my previous watch, Ticwatch S.

Battery life initially sucked balls, lasted 20hrs on first charge, but then I realised it was doing ALOT of background updates i.e Wear OS, Fossil Firmware, my own personal Apps, Google Fit etc. After the 2nd day, battery life started to stable out and increase. I am now getting at least 36hrs out of one charge. Ticwatch was lucky to get 24hrs of the same usage. I don't use any of the battery saving features, cause that'll defeat the purpose of a smartwatch.

The screen is great! very sharp and clear. To my surprise it wasn't that more advanced than the Ticwatch S. I mean there's a noticeable difference but you have to look hard. It is definitely more responsive on the touch side. Most likely due to the combo of upgraded processor and 1GB ram. The Gen5 is crazy responsive and fast.

There is near to no delay in notification alerts and calls to the Gen5. My Ticwatch S use to have a 2 second delay and phone callers would hang up by the time the Ticwatch S registered a call. With the Gen5, instantaneous, its night and day difference in terms of speed/performance.

Build quality, well, the Gen5 sh*$s all over the Ticwatch S. Full stainless steel body vs plastic. Gorilla Glass 3 vs Nippon Electric Glass. The old "it's got some weight to it" paints the picture of the Gen5 vs Ticwatch S build quality.

    Definitely happy with my upgrade/purchase.
