  • Would I be able to use this arm to mount my blue yeti? https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/blue-yeti-usb-microphone-...

    • Yeti will be too heavy, and that's before I check if it will fit in the shock mount (I believe they need weird stuff). Honestly, invest in a xlr style mic and mixer first for a better long term usage.

Oddly enough it says this stand can handle 1kg, so in theory it would work? I don't really believe it.

For the price, it's a great starter kit (it comes with a condenser mic somehow?)

      • makes sense. I think for the price I might risk it. Some reviews have said they've used the yeti somehow, i'll give it a shot. such a cheap option

        • +2

I use this Neewer stand with my Yeti - I had to buy an adaptor (5/8" to 3/8" screw mount adaptor: https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B01EUG7ENA/ref=ppx_yo_d...) so that you can use the screw mount on the stand to screw the Yeti onto it (the Yeti has a screw mount on the bottom). The Yeti hangs upside down but other than that the stand works just fine. I had to screw the thumb screws from the original desk stand for the Yeti back into the Yeti after mounting it this way though, as without the thumb screws I believe there was some exposed metal picking up interference or something as I was getting weird background static.

          • @satish89: oh awesome, thanks mate!

          • @satish89: I too use a Neewer arm with my Yeti. The supplied shock mount came with an adaptor to suit the Yeti mount thread. It holds up the weight fine. If it doesn't work you, you may be able to either tighten up the joints, or get stiffer springs for the arms.

            • @Mikeer: @Mikeer I bought just the arm by itself without the shock mount because I wasn't sure the shock mount would fit the Yeti. I did tighten the joints a fair bit but it doesn't seem like the arm is struggling to hold the weight of the Yeti itself up at all - it's been working really well actually. Does the shock mount in this pack fit the Yeti? If so, might be time to invest in it…

              • @satish89: Unfortunately, the shock mount itself did not fit the Yeti - it's far too thick to fit in it

      • Not true. I'm using a AT2020 and the boom arm supports the mic with no issues at all.

I've got a Rode NT in one which I believe (not confirmed) is heavier than Blue Yeti, it's fine.

You may have to buy a new bit (sorry, can't think of proper name) to attach to top to hold the mic. but I'm pretty sure it will fit as is.

There's no point in moving to XLR unless you want to spend serious money on an XLR interface because cheap ones are garbage. The first decent XLR interface starts at about 400USD. At the low end USB is the higher quality option assuming you get a good USB interface.

The Yeti has a built-in interface which I'm assuming is good.

      • +8

I think that's underselling some of the Behringer and Scarlett interfaces in the $100-$200 range for those who are recording voice only or voice and a single instrument.

        • Exactly. The scarlett units are excellent!

        • Yeah, the Scarlett ADC performance is excellent. The DAC performance for monitoring is also pretty good, but it's backed up by a pretty awful amp with a lot of distortion.

      • +1

What about Roland's Quad-Capture / Duo-Capture series? Excellent pre-amp. Guarantee it sounds better than a Yeti built in.

    • +1

I got the NB-39 for my Blue Yeti and it works flawlessly. I would go that instead as I believe this is the smaller NB-35 which might struggle with the weight.

  • I only see $31.99.

  • Nice. Code works.

  • +10

Just as a heads up, if you don’t already have a box that provides phantom power to a mic, you will need to purchase the companion phantom power box as well so it will work correctly. So there’s a bit of extra hidden cost there that’s not immediately obvious to people just looking at the mic.

    • +1

Oh thanks for the info, is it correct to assume, it is not possible to use this mi directly to laptop/PC, using mic Jack?

      • +3

Correct. It is designed for and really requires phantom power.

You can use it directly input into your PC/laptop's port, but with poor volume response and a middling result.

For ref: I have this mic and its Neewer phantom power unit as well as a Behringer Audio Interface (which has its own phantom power). Connected like this, it works very well, far better than it should at its price point. Unless you have a singing voice in the same league as Michael Buble or Marvin Gaye, its all you'll need and certainly to get going.

    • What is this phantom box you speak of? I'm only needing a baking mic, but something better than a $2 desktop mic I got.
Would this work without this phantom box?

    • -5

The mic is garbage, buy something else :D

You really only want to buy this for the scissor arm.

    • +1

It'll be a PC by PC basis, if your motherboard has an integrated soundcard that can supply enough power it should still work. A couple of my buddies use it in this way. If someones built a gaming/content creation oriented PC, they're probably good. But the power supply can certainly be ordered after the fact.

      • do you need an audio interface for this to work?

    • +1

"You will need" is incorrect. It depends on what you run it on. I have had this mic for about a year now and have only ever run it through the 3.5mm jack off my motherboard. It's plenty loud enough and works fine so telling people they 'need' a power supply is bad advice. Instead of listening to this poorly upvoted suggestion, listen to me and if you are buying this and have a good mobo, wait until you've tested it before you waste your money. Even if I bought a phantom power supply I wouldn't of used it as it's just another powered device that takes up room on my desk and it clearly isn't necessary because my mic is too loud when I have the settings cranked.

  • Dang it, keep getting unpublished for 'referral links'?

    Guess its something like this

  • +1

The microphone can not be used with mobile phone and tablet computer. Note: It cannot work with Mac.
If you want better sound effect, a sound card should be used. (Sound Card is not included).

Hey everyone, if you are also in need of the Phantom Power Supply, I just made you all a deal for that as well. Amazon has a 4-hour waiting period for brand new promo codes, so note the 2PM AEDT start time. :)

    START TIME: 09/01/2020 2:00PM AEDT

    Link: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B076WF7DSP/?m=AJOR17O0JPJRP

    Discounted Price: $13.25

    • Wow! This is a ultra good price guys.

If you don't already have an alternative PP PSU, just buy it.

    • Can you do a deal on the cable as well to help bump up the price to $39 for free shipping with Amazon prime? ;)

      • Each comes supplied with the cable you'll need to connect together as memory serves. (I bought them separately some time back). But they are pretty ordinary (understatement) cables and connectors. Even so, I had to pull one of mine apart, cut, strip and resolder its to the terminal to effect a sound joint due to contact crackle with any movement. I don't use them other than caught short spares.

      • If you have prime shipping is also free. And correct me if im wrong but you only need to order the linked mic and the amp thats going on sale shortly. Amp includes the cable to the mic and usb power, and the cable from the mic listing will work from amp output to pc input.

        • Yeh, I meant that just need something small to buy that is relevant to bump the price over $39 to get free shipping with amazon prime

          • +1

@frankthetank: Isn't Prime free shipping anyway? Even below $39?

            • +1

@JTTheMan: lol, my dumb ass literally thought i had to buy over $39 to get free delivery. Thanks for clarifying for me

    • Thanks NeewerGlobal.
Do you have a microphone floor stand you'd recommend with a link and a good price? :)

    • same code?

    • Eagerly awaiting new code :)

    • What's the codeee ?

    • Hi op thanks for this bought the mic, I would need the PSU as well, what is the code for this one? Still showing as $20+ for me its already 2pm+ Thanks

    • Is this still happening? Also, the mics all gone?

    • Already 2:00PM AEDT, how do I get it for this price?

    • +1

Was holding out on purchasing both together as I didn't want to order both within an hour of each other but now the original deal is no longer available.

Any chance of a combo deal for the mic kit + phantom power for around the price they would have been if bought separate, ~$35?

      • Lost out on the deal. I was waiting for 2pm to get both in one order. Ah well. Guess I saved my money unless OP adds more to the stock.

      • I was going to do the samething… Then I realised this was ozbargain and bought one straight away

        • Yeh, I should have just done that too…

    • Still showing $20.39 at 2:09PM….

    • Nice, is there a new code forthcoming for this or?

    • The code "MICAU120" doesn't work for the Phantom Power Supply.

    • Is the code for the power supply "MICAU120" also?

    • +2

Still waiting for the power supply special

    • Is there a new code for the phantom box? I’m not getting the discounted price. Tia

    • +2

Yea kinda bought the Mic assuming I could get the PSU as well. How is that code coming along?

    • Shows at$20

If we need this box please fix price. Thanks

    • +3

It says the NeewerGlobal account is based in the USA. S/he's probably forgot about posting the code and currently asleep. =[

    • This doesn't look good on the company, state a deal and then ghost everyone.

    • I've been periodicaly looking and the price hasn't changed yet and it's 2:10pm in qld atm which is well past 2pm aedt. Do you know if this deal with the phantom power supply is still happening?

      • +7

Sounds like it was a phantom deal lol

      • The profile says USA, I'm assuming while the coupon is active the person is asleep and hasn't realized they never released it.

    • Where is the code?

    • Still no code boo

    • Hey rep, we're waiting for you to do a deal on the phantom power supply pls

    • I've been checking and rechecking for the code for this deal since 1400 yesterday!

      Is it still happening?!

  • -2

I found the Power supply in ebay (a bit cheaper and free postage) as well.

    • +3

No stock, so you've linked a universal adaptor.

    • Both of those only have the universal adapter option left, unless I am mistaken

    Neewer NW-700 Condenser Microphone Kit

Is the Neewer much of an improvement over the Oolder ???

To get some idea on the product before you go in. Solid for the price, and if your future upgrade paths lack an arm, mount and pop filter, this would suit if they're not too heavy.

  • How does this mic compare to the Rode NT USB?

    • +2

About $160 cheaper inc shipping. You figure the rest out. o.O

    • Frequency responses is not that great with high and lows tapered off quite significantly even when comparing with a Shure SM58, significant level of EQing is needed to achieve a neutral sounding voice. Sensitivity isn't any better either. Tested with a Yamaha MGP24x sound desk with 48v phantom power.

  • Would this be suitable to try and reproduce classic hits of the last decade like Chocolate Rain?

  • Can you connect this up to an iPhone?

    • Make sure you choose the right seller for code to work.

  • Can you use this for gaming? I'm in need of a new mic and the scissor arm is appealing.

    • +2

yes, but you need to buy the phantom power supply as well. The seller listed it above. Your mic will sound amazing, a lot clearer than a gaming headset.

      • Why do you people keep telling others this. You do not need a phantom power supply. Yes it will work better but I have had this mic for about a year now and have only ever run it on the 3.5mm onboard sound off my z370 mobo and it's louder than it ever needs to be.. If you have a laptop or phone then yes, grab a power supply but if you have a decent desktop computer, odds are you won't need one.

        • Onboard power vastly differs between implementations of sound controllers. Some boards are way better than others at it.

          • @maybe a bot: Well current system is a z370 asrock extreme 4 but I tested this on my old budget media pc which is a gigabyte h series motherboard with a haswell refresh cpu in it (so at least 5 years old) and the mic worked fine on that too so either I have just been lucky or my point is still valid and you don't always "need" a phantom power supply..

        • -3

"you people"? why are you being racist? im saying it because it didn't work on my mobo, it wasn't powerful enough. but with the power supply its next level. worth the $13

          • -1

@cortex: Are you serious? How would I know your race to even be racist? How ridiculous. "You people" is referring to several people like you who have said to people in this deal comment section that they "need" a phantom power supply as if there is no other option to use the mic without it. I'm simply saying it's not always the case. The guy you responded to could be on desktop pc with a good enough mobo to run it for all you know but you responded to hes question of "is it good for gaming" by telling him he needs to purchase another item to use it. I thought that was fairly obvious.

  • +2

Is there something wrong with me? Logged into Amazon account (no prime), added item to cart, checkout, put code into "Gift & Promotional Codes" and I get a "The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase." error.

    • +1

Not just you, I am also having the same issue.
Can anyone confirm the code still works?

      • +1

        Not working for me either…

      • +1

Same problem. Code cannot be applied.

Edit. As mentioned elsewhere, the seller had defaulted to another when I reached the checkout so code didn't work. Once ensuring I had the correct seller everything worked correctly. :-)

    • +2

You need to make sure you pick the item with the seller Kaito. If not, the code will not be accepted.

      • +1

        Thanks mate, works!

  • Read a few feedback and it would seem that this and the phantom power are not compatible with a Mac?
Anyone have info on this? PC only?

  • Darn it, just bought an mpm 1000u off ebay for 50.

Any one recommending refunding that and getting this instead?

Using it for streaming and general game comms

  • Sick if condenser mic is included

  • why do i need this ?

  • Got one, reviews looks promising! Will grab the PPSU at 2.

  • are there any deals on just the arm? I already have a mic

  • How does the nw700 compare to the nw800? @NeewerGlobal ?

    • They're very similar, I use NW700 on my personal PC tho
