Cool… I ordered! total is $1249 for credit card payment! If I claim at the airport, $1241-$600-$111=$530 … Bargain!!!

    • Hi there, how do you claim at the airport?

      • +1

Oh… I'm going to oversea soon in 2 weeks :)

        • I assume you have to be a foreign citizen for that to work? I didn't know that worked in Aus, just thought it was the US!

      • +1

yes everyone can. No matter, if u r a foreign national of citizen of Australia. If it is intended to be gifted to someone overseas. After getting boarding pass, there is a section, where u can refund ur GST on goods u r taking ovverseas.

    • No, you do not have to be an foreign bloke to claim the GST. The implication of GST does not lie on your nationality.

      • You can claim 10% gst if you buy the stuff within 4 weeks before you fly out. Just ensure that the receipt has your name on it! Min to be claimed is around $300!

        • doesn't need to be under ur name

        • +2

If the total purchases being claimed under the TRS on any one invoice are over $1,000 then that tax invoice must list the purchaser's name and address. I presume that only the purchaser can claim the GST refund so I wouldn't like to try to claim it with someone else's name on the invoice.

Also as per my post on page 1 of this thread you will need to list the notebook on your customs declaration when you return to Australia with it.

Make sure you are across the fine print of how the scheme works:-
          http://www.customs.gov.au/site/page4646.asp

  • Guys, Can I start to claim it on Lenovo website now? Or I have to wait til I receive it?

    • +2

You need to upload the receipt and serial number, so you've got to wait.

  • Does it have USB 3.0?

  • +2

I just checked my email, next week it will be three months and I still haven't got it.

Just be warned, it could be a massive wait for the cash back.

  • Just noticed on the cashback website this:
"We'll verify your purchases and send your Lenovo Cash Card to the email address you've provided."

It seems that it's an e-card, so you can't take it to do your shopping at Coles/Woolies. :(

    • When I used to work at Coles we were able to type in the card number and expiration date manually, if it's a prepaid debit card type scenario they should still be able to put it through.

Take all of this with a pinch of salt as I haven't worked there for 3+ years

excellent deal. I've had my T510 running for almost 3years without any probs. Hardly is turned off (sleep mode when not used). Used and abused in the work field for all these time. We're trying to kill this laptop, been on for over 3 months in a remote location recording data and it refuses to die.

Company bought new T520's for us @$1699 each without cash backs with the same specs as above.

@$599 will surely be buying another one!!!

  • What those product number mean in the eligibility list? Like 42402CM, 424029M etc, how do I make sure T520 is one of these?

    • it is listed on the centrecom website as the vendor code

    • Go to the Lenovo website. The item is eligible until 18/9.

  • Got email for centrecom and my T520 was shipped! Great job centrecom!!!

  • My current laptop is still ok not necessary need one but the price is so attractive…ah ah ozbag!!!

  • I'm struggling not to order this!

    • Who not? My Acer is still ok but… Damn you Ozbargain.

  • +1

OMG, OMG. I am hanging onto the Centre Com website for more than 4 hours from the morning, still hesitating whether or not to hit that "Confirmation" Button. It is so so so unresisting!!! Bloody bargain. I have my T500 for over 2 years and I still feel it as new as if I purchased it from last week. Thinkpad T series is an indeed damn good model. I am so hoping my T500 will die in the next 3 minutes and thus I could have sufficient excuse to abuse my wallet!!. God. Damn Good Bargain!! Who could save me ???

    • +1

T500 is also a Business grade laptop that why you still feel new after you purchase after 2 years. LOL..

      • Hi Centrecom,

I am in Sydney wanted to buy the T520. How much is the delivery fee to sydney?

The laptop is in brand new unopened seal box and its australian stock rite(i mean not grey import models)? The reason i am asking is for the cashback, Lenovo may reject the claim if the stock may not be an australian stock.

Please advice to my email [email protected]

        Thanks

        Regards

        Raja

        • Hi,
Delivery to Sydney is $18, Insurance around $11 if you want it. (I just put the order in)
I do not believe a reputable company would put the cash back in their offer knowing that the product is not eligible.

    • +1

Just buy this T520, really a bargain. T500 is also very good model, can be your backup laptop.

      • +2

Guess what. I bought it. Yeah, feel so good. That's the essence of being an OZBARGAINER!

    • -1

me too , but made my decision last night at 10pm OMG my first Thinkpad, Chinese ppl call it Little Black

  • +1

Bank transfer takes two business days, CentreCom got enough T520 in stock?

    • +1

As long as you place the order we will reserve the stock for you. It's allow 7 days for payment. Thanks.

      • Hey you guarantee it? Coz I've just done the bank transfer and hope to receive it soon. If you receive the fund next Tuesday could the item reach Sydney prior to the beginning of September coz I need to claim the GST. Or when you receive it can you send me an online tax invoice?

  • Hi , mate . Ordered this am very early then paid thru the NAB bank deposit, emailed to sales email , but only had machine replied, how do I know that my order has been shipped?

  • Just checked it and it says waiting payment !!!

    • Direct deposit take 24hr to show on bank system.

  • Just ordered.
I had to wait 20 min on the phone though. (Sunshine store)
Looks like they are being OzBargained…. :)

BTW peoples, an extra 2% if paying by credit card.

  • But the bank said it should be your account straight away. That's why I did it,the money should be showed in your account just does not show the reference or from who.

    • That's right

      • Dear Rep,

I have posted this before but you may not see it. Could you please help me?

HELP!!!Rep.I have send an email to request for cancellation of order 66848 and replacement of order 66977. I have transferred monney for my order 66848 yesterday, can I pay the difference for my substituted order 66977?

Can you help me? Thanks a lot!

Edit: Just got an email from centre com. My order has been updated!!! I got T520 instead of L420.

    • How the hell would they know whether it was yours or one of their hundreds of other customer's money?

  • I wish I could drive to sunshine to pick up myself!!!

  • Rep is it possible to choose NVIA graphic card other that Intel integrated?

    • just check yourself, on the moneytree site but i recall that the "cashback" was only valid with preconfigured laptops.
      not "customised" orders.

  • Hey guys just after i bought one another bargain just pop up @ Crazy Sales wtf!!!!
    Lenovo ThinkPad T520 Intel Core i5-2540M 2.6GHz / 15.5" HD LED Backlight Laptop Notebook PC Computer / Windows 7 Pro 64 Bits / 320GB HDD / 4GB RAM DDR3 / 720p HD Web Cam / Finger Print Scanner / NVIDIA NVS 4200m 1MB Graphics Card / DVD+/-RW Optical Drive = $759.95
    http://www.crazysales.com.au/lenovo-thinkpad-t520-laptop-not…
this one actually has its own graphic on it, which suppose cost 3000 not sure about cash back though since it didnt say anything. it could be someone hack the site and post up a fake bargain or it could be the real deal :).

    • not an eligible model for $600 cashback

      • yea i just realized that, but it still a bargain dont you reakon? it has it own graphic card.
im confirming with crazy sales right now, see if its the real deal.

        • +2

Good on you, buddy. I was also browsing that crazy sales website in the afternoon and saw that one was $759 but now they have added $1000 to it,which means,if they are gonna still keep to their promise and ship it to you, you have saved $1000, more than anybody else has saved here. Congrats!

        • yes, i also saw that price on crazy sale. but that price is too good to be true without cashback.
I have not seen T520 at this price even in US.

      • +1

but $759.95 already very cheap, also good deal.

        • +1

srry to disappoint u guys but crazy sales gona take the deal off since the supplier also not too sure about the cost and they gona do a double check. hehe

    • what I saw is $1759.95. Is it a typo?

    • I they don't honour it I think there's not much the guy can do. Coz it's clearly a typo. May God bless him.

  • Hi Rep,

If I order would you ship it to Sydney? if so how much does it cost?

    Thanks

  • +1

    just bought one =D

    • Sam here :D. But I chose bank transfer so should wait until Monday or Tuesday, geez.

      • +1

I pay by credit card. a lot easier for me.
Anyway it's friday now. Might get laptop by Tue or Wed ^^

  • Just finished setting mine up. The keyboard is fantastic to type on (and I thought that the ThinkPad Edge keyboard was good!).

  • +1

Now I need a bag… All my bags are too small for this laptop…

  • Shipped today! Will receive it on Monday :)

  • Trying to order this, but I chose to pay via credit card and now it wants photos of my card, a statement, etc as extra verification…bit more than I want to hand out… cant figure out where I can change payment option to paypal now tho…any suggestions?
    thx in advance

    • you can try to www.centrecom.com.au/catalog/bank_transfer.php .then you should be able to chenge to bank transfer.

    • just order by phone and use credit card.
No issues at all and i rang sunshine store to order

    • paypal may be no better for you.

I used a 10 year old verified paypal account but despite being an existing centrecom customer, my order is now frozen pending paypal confirmation.
This has never happened before, so I think the fact it is a >$1000 laptop has prompted centrecom to be more cautious than usual.

      • +1

Yea I dont really mind if they want to verify with paypal, Im just not comfortable handing out multiple copies of my signature, cc details + photos of my credit card, and a copy of a bill. Sounds like a recipe for future identity theft:P Emailed them last night and got an auto response sayin they will get back to me asap, which I suppose since they havent today means monday. The guys on the phone jus said Id have to wait for an email back…but as long as they hold me one I cant complain about a laptop that will fully pay itself back to me over the course of the next yr:)

  • To those who have this laptop, what kind of battery life are you getting? I can't seem to find any quotes from Lenovo for the 6-cell battery but I'm getting 6-7 hours while web browsing on the Source Optimised setting with a brightness of 7.

    • mine is around 6 hrs with brightness setting of 10

      • Strange - it seems that the Windows battery gauge and the Lenovo battery gauge report different values. I'm getting 5.5 hours from the Lenovo gauge and 8 hours from the Windows gauge. Which one are you looking at?

        • +1

they should be consistent with each other after few times of recharges, but to me, i am referencing with the levono one.

by the way, i am stuck to figure out how to transfer my files between bluetooth-paired devices, tried to send pics to t520 from samsung tab and keep getting failed even they are paired……

  • +1

Nice find OP. This will suit me perfectly, thanks.

    • +1

      sharing for win-win ^^

  • Any reason not to get the L420 instead of this model? Its the same price includes a display port, faster processor including vt-d support and 8GB memory.

Only downsides I can see is 14" screen and 1 year warranty instead of 3. Am I missing something, to me it seems like a better deal.

    • +1

The reason this one is getting so much attention is rather than just looking at specs, it's the quality and rollcage that is getting people. and on top if you can get education rebate it's a free laptop (ignoring the time value of money), not the case with the L420.

      • I wasn't aware the l420 doesn't have the rollcage.

I just checked the lenovo website again and it also lists the T520 as having a display port (its shown in the picture gallery). I sent an email to centrecom to try and confirm that it does.

        • it does have one

    • IMHO that's a much better machine/deal for the money, if you're mainly going to use it in one place with an external monitor. Far superior CPU (faster at stock and turbo boost, marginally faster integrated graphics, VPro, vt-d, AES acceleration, Trusted Execution, and all at the same TDP) and double the memory.

I'd imagine that the smaller screen and faster CPU (for same power) add to battery life too.

See comparisons of the two CPUs here:
      http://ark.intel.com/compare/52224,52229

Reviews seem quite favourable, and note cool running, great keyboard and "exceptional build quality". Probably rugged enough for anyone not offroading it!
      http://www.laptopmag.com/review/laptops/lenovo-thinkpad-l420…
      http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=6142&review…

      Anyone know if:

      1) you can buy without Win7 for a discount? I already have more Win7 licenses than I know what to do with.

      2) You can use the VGA and DisployPort outputs simultaneously (two external monitors)?

      • +1

Why on Earth would you buy a laptop if you plan only to use it in the one place with an external monitor? You might as well buy a desktop.

        • I said "mainly" not "only".

The display isnt good enough for principle use, so if you're one of the many who mainly use an external monitor, with the internal display for occasional mobile use, then it seems a better machine all round.

Sorry if I didn't put that clearly enough.

  • +2

Great build quality, good spec and no graphics card chewin up my battery life!
50% back from lenovo, 50% back from ETR
    AMAZING BARGAIN!
    Thx OP!!
