Came across this on HUKD, thought it might be appreciated here too :)

Supposdely a great app to save on expensive mobile charges if you're lost abroad for example. Premium version is better than Pro version.

Steps to get the free pro or premium version:
1) Download the standard version of the app from the Google Play Store
2) Open the app. From the menu, select "Redeem a code"
3) Enter the code PROSUPP (for pro version) or PREMSUPP (for premium version - you must manually enter these codes, do not copy and paste!
4) You should now have pro access to the app for free

  Got it, but what can it do that google maps with downloaded offline data cant?
  The in depth stuff looked pretty rubbish for the areas I checked.

    It's better organised. You download maps per country and they are all neatly listed.

  Found it useful to use overseas especially during the time before I manage to purchase a local SIM card.
  Even without internet access it manages to show your location on the map which is great to find your way around.

  Thanks for the post. I got the app. I find it a bit annoying that you just can't select a whole country's worth of maps to download at once. I live in Brisbane and I can't select "download Australia" or something like that. I have to download Brisbane, then Gold coast, then….etc Then I have to do the same for each city/state in the country, let alone other countries in the world. Am I missing something?

  Edit - I just found the option for downloading each state one by one, which is a little better.

    i did this for NZ… could only find cities but somehow.. in and out found entire NZ map download, maybe keepm looking? :)

  I can't work out how to find addresses (such as my home address). I can only look up public places and can't search for actual addresses. Even touching a point on the map doesn't bring up an address - just an option to save the pin as a place of interest. I also can't work out how to get directions from one location to another. I've got a feeling that it won't do this and the whole app is basically a big map without any of the usual features I'm used to in Google maps.

  Does it show real time public transport options or other transport modes (navigation) like Google Maps? Hope I am not missing anything.

  Also, the tourism articles are quite dated for many cities.

  I immediatelly removed these apps yesterday after they didn't respect my setting to disable notifications but nonetheless got a notification a few hours later about "discovering local attractions"
