      isn't everything? :)

      • +3

        I wasn't.

My girlfriend was but I paid extra for the premium model. No return policy though.

      Made in China

Didn't stop you from posting a deal for a tv made in China?

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/500926

        • +14

Actually that's what YOU made it sound like…

    • +23

I can not believe you got downvoted for pointing out that these are made in china, which is very important information when it comes NiMh rechargeable batteries (because anyone with a clue about rechargeable batteries would know that all Made in Japan low self discharge NiMh batteries are made by FDK, the same company that makes all the good Eneloops and all batteries from that factory pretty much share their performance with them)!

        Let the upvoting begin 🙂

Absolutely correct man, country of origin for batteries really matter. Especially when it comes to amazon basics, since they switch their suppliers often. Made in Japan quality is quite different to made in China.

      • I can believe it …..

    • +2

iPhone made in China as well

    • So are some eneeloops. When Panasonic bought eneloops they started producing them in china

      • When Panasonic bought eneloops they started producing them in china

That was case a few years ago, but Panasonic resumed production of regular Eneloops and Eneloop Pros in Japan since the BK-3MCCE (AA) and BK-4MCCE (AAA) generation.

All of the Eneloops I've bought in the last two years are made in Japan.

  • Need another $4.20 item, anyone?

  • +1

These were rated the best value for money among many other batteries. I think it was project farm who tested it.

    • +5

Well Choice liked Coles batteries which makes me cynical of those sorts of exercises.
I'd trust mid-long term OzB user comments instead if anyone happens to have feedback on these!

    • I doubt most ozbargainers know who project farm is but I have seen a few people mention Ave on here.

  • +2

Despatched within 1 to 3 months

  • Are these rebranded eneloop?

    • Not a chance.

      • -5

Actually almost all NiMH batteries are made in the Panasonic factory in japan, and if they say made in japan then they most certainly are, so likely these are eneloops that didn't pass the capacity test and thus were binned as atleast 2000mah and sold off to amazon.

        • +12

I wasn’t joking when I said Made in China.

  • How good they are compared to Eneloop? any reviews?

      • +4

I am reading comments from Amazon US. It says the ones made in Japan are good while the one made in China are not as good as. And people are reporting the green lable could be made in China or Japan.

  • Can't make out where they are made. Found these reviews.

    https://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-rechargeable-batterie…
    https://www.batteryfocus.com/best-rechargeable-batteries-rev…

I guess take their views with a grain of salt but there are a few goodish reviews around. Don't really need any batteries right now but will keep an eye on these.

  • Only has the 2400 ones but a good starting point https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0A1GvQ40j0Q&t

  • I was wondering whether these batteries are LSD, since the listing doesn't say, and according to wirecutter they are.

    • Must be lsd. How can they be pre charged otherwise?
They ain’t gonna be some guy charging these just before shipment!

      • +2

Pretty sure there are a bunch of kids charging these just before shipping somewhere in China.

    • +2

I’d eat them all if they were.

  • Will definitely not as good as Envelop, but considering its price and quantity it's not bad at all!
At least it's Amazon and not something that is used and re-packed, or stated 2000mah but only 800mah… lol

  • The 2nd review posted above says Eneloops have double the recharge cycles.

  • I'd be willing to give a go if a smaller quantity could be bought to try/test first like even some simple Lii-500 test cycles which is how I found the "new" Aldi batteries are crap compared to their older ones.

  • Not much of a saving over the Aldi ones

  • +7

I'm not sure what these are like, but the Coles branded rechargeables were very good when I tested them. They work out cheaper, you don't have to wait literally months for them to turn up and you can just buy what you need as you need them.

Also, you're not supporting a company run by a mega rich guy who treats his employees like utter crap and tried to make himself look good by donating an amount equivalent to the average American donating less than $1 to the Australian bush fire appeals.

    • But Australian retailers treat customers like sh!t. So we choose to support either the companies treat employees or customers like sh!t?

      • +4

Australian retailers treat their staff a lot better that their American counter parts. I'd rather be a little more inconvenienced for the time I'm shopping than wishing the hell that is American retail onto my fellow Australians.

    • Plus Jeffwit Bozos had a huge hissy fit when he was told he had to pay GST on sales in Australia so he threatened banning Australians from buying off amazon thinking it would make the government cave in it. Now the predatory sale price to match anyone having a sale in Australia that basically killed off a bunch of eb games stores and probably more in the future. Of course all aimed at elimination the competition so prices can be jacked back up at amazon in the future. Anyone noticed the price of books on amazon these days compared to when they went to war with borders book stores etc. I'm all for Australian stores and Australian jobs in this matter over this guys dumping practices aimed at killing competition, similar to what the USA is trying to stop in China.

      • +1

My local Woolworths also tries to match the prices of the fresh fruit stores within the same shopping centre. Same goes for OW with its price match policy. So this killing competitors strategy is commonly used here among Australian retailers too. The only difference is if paying higher prices to support Australian retailers means our money stays in Australia to hire Australian employees and pay for the rent etc or not.
Edit: by the way, EB Games are operated by GameStop from US.

  • Someone on OzB mentioned a good charger but I forgot the brand. What do people recommend?

    • +4

LiitoKala can be had cheap, Nitecore is another OzB favourite. Maha makes good chargers but cost a bit more.

      • Thanks to you both. The Nitecore was the one that I was thinking of but couldn;t remember the name. That seems like a good price cornbeef.

        • +1

Yep good price heal, local supplier great to deal with, legit product.

  • Panasonic is now making Eneloop cells in China and have been doing so for a few years. My mate spoke to a Eneloop engineer and they said Panasonic will move all production to China long run. The engineer also said the Chinese cells will improve over time. At this moment all the good equipment is still in Japan.

Also the only FDK cells are the pros which are the 2400mah cells.

    • +1

Sad they're moving the production to China. Now we won't be able to differentiate the good batteries from the bad as easily.

    • +2

The engineer also said the Chinese cells will improve over time.

Just like Japanese electronics were known as JapCrap back in the 70’s as it was cheap and poor quality.
The same has happened to China.

    • Panasonic is now making Eneloop cells in China and have been doing so for a few years.

Panasonic resumed production of regular Eneloops and Eneloop Pros in Japan since the BK-3MCCE (AA) and BK-4MCCE (AAA) generation.

All of the Eneloops I've bought in the last two years are made in Japan.

When Panasonic acquired Sanyo in 2009, they initially did move all production to China but eventually they returned to producing them in the former-Sanyo, FDK factories in Japan.

Are you saying they're going to switch back to China again?

    • yep, the 2400 mah are the japanese ones, hence higher price.
i haven’t seem 1900 mah or 2100 mah made in japan for a long time, all the non pro i’ve seen in the last 4 years are made in china.

      • i haven’t seem 1900 mah or 2100 mah made in japan for a long time, all the non pro i’ve seen in the last 4 years are made in china.

Nonsense. I've got 4 unopened packs of non-Pro, AAs (BK-3MCCE) and AAAs (BK-4MCCE) that I ordered last year and they all say 'Made in Japan' on them.

This recent deal from last month was for a BK-4MCCE 4-Pack. If you click on the deal link and then look at the product photographs on Catch's website, the reverse of the packaging clearly shows 'Made in Japan' on it.

Same goes for the BK-3MCCE 4-Pack and the BK-4MCCE 8-Pack that Catch are selling.

  • Bought Panasonic Eneloop Tropical Rechargeable (Made in China), both AA and AAA, some years ago, in regular use in all sorts of devices, never had one fail, never disposed of even 1 of a few dozen. Recharging with Pure Energy charger (also Made in China). Totally satisfied with both batteries and charger.

    • My colourful shiny MIC ones have developed high resistance according to my MAHA charger, which refuses to charge them, so I had to use a dumb charger to charge them. These batteries still work in clocks and remote controls, but I suspect they will struggle in more demanding situations.

  • At least the printing on the battery is still in Japanese lol
