  • What do people use this for? Working in bed?

    • +3

I've ordered it and that's exactly my reason, I get calls overnight for IT work and can't be assed to go to a desk for 30 mins work

    • +15

      W**king in bed. Yes.

      • +1

        Sounds like a hard job

        • and it can't stand too long

          • @ntt: Makes you STAGnate

      • +1

        Come on, guys.

*Added punctuation to avoid any possible misinterpretation

      • Masterbation station

      • Also works for casual gaming on bed.

    • +1

I used mine to turn my armrest on my sofa in to a sidetable. Works quite well.

  • +12

I use it to instagram food from my couch. Stops me needing to put pants on.

  • +3

I have one. Wish the desk bit had a latch as when you move it around when legs are folded the desk bit keeps opening and hitting my legs or my door frames

Becareful of your fingers too when folding as you could injure yourself

    Desk is very sturdy

    • -1

Easy solution is just to hold it with your hand on the desk bit when moving it.

  • +1

    Happy with mine

  • -3

Great for either sitting up to work or laying back to relax

In what way is this a "standing desk"?

    • -1

Sitting up in bed not standing up

      • -1

So it is just a stand.

        • Is exactly what it says it is.

          • @PainToad: Check the product name and description on Amazon.

            • @alvian: Now I understand.

Instead of saying it is a stand for a computer/laptop they refer it to as a standing desk in the Amazon Listing.

        • Half the surface can be elevated at an angle

    • +1

Might be "standing desk" if you put this on top of a normal desk.

      • What is this? A standing desk for ants?

        • How can we be expected to teach children to learn how to read… if they can't even fit on top of this desk?

  • If we put laptop on there then we need a separate keyboard, right? Or typing on angled laptop own keyboard is fine?

    • Typing angled is fine.

    • Typing on the angle is fine.

    • No additional keyboard, you can add a slight angle or none at all, typing on laptop keyboard is fine. They angle thing is mainly for ipad viewing etc. I have something similar to this but the mouse tray was annoying. This looks much better. I wonder if lefties can swap the mouse section.

      • Hmm.. so we stand and put the laptop flat on this thing? But the screen maybe become too low and our hand is too high?

  • could be better if the legs are adjustable. sitting a bit too high now for me. but good desk after all.

  • Pro Tip - also really useful if you have grubby kids that want to eat food in front of the TV and you don't want your carpet to look like you just had a Pro Hart ad filmed in your lounge - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qb4n8yc2so

    • +1

      Untill it all tips over

  • I have one of those, but in wood color and made 100% from wood. Also has adjustable length legs (very handy). Was some $20-25 on ebay though.

Quite useful if you want to work or play from the couch. Sometimes we also use it as a high stand for the laptop when we watch something and can't be f**ed to wait for the TV to start up.

    • +1

If you had a link to it that would be super handy, would much prefer adjustable table.

    • ~"made 100% from wood"~
      You sure?
Mine's made from particleboard glue encased within a wood-grained plastic veneer!

      • +1

Yeah, mine is like >97% bamboo. Just the screws and stuff are made of metal or plastic.

  • Fyi this thing can scratch your table quite easily plus a wooden spot on the top just fell off on mine.

    • You must have been working really hard :O

      • Lol nah that spot fell off before I used it.

  • all sold - waitlisted now

  • has good reviews and sturdy build quality as per reviews.

I'm surprised people still haven't worked out that Amazon reviews are untrustworthy. There is an industry devoted to gaming the Amazon review system.

    • +2

Always used Amazon reviews as indicator and rarely have been disappointed.

    • There is plenty of AstiVita deals and reviews on here. Pretty easy to trust them

Surprised it only has 25 ratings.

      • Most AstiVita Amazon reviews are from OzB. I would trust them.
Just look for those with "Verified purchase"

    • Yes, I agree, I take Amazon reviews with a grain of salt after being burnt in the past.

  • Damn missed out can’t seem to join the wait list either oh well, I’ll wait for another deal on one of these

    • +1

Just wait, they often do deals like this

  • I tried using one as a cheap lapboard but found it a little too heavy, mostly due to the chipboard. With the legs extended it was also too high for my use case, in saying that I'm about to try bend the legs further out and see if that works out but I'm not that hopeful.

  • Received mine, comes in the largest box I've ever received from Amazon. As large as an office chair.

    • That's the size they ship my toilet paper in, cats love getting deliveries

    • Mine came today minus outter box.

  • Mine come in a nice compact box today. the height of it is perfect! I'm currently using it in my office before i take it home as a stand up desk :) Bargain for $15

  • Received it yesterday, it is more wider than other similar tables I have owned in the past. Height not adjustable. Build is moderately heavy. Overall, it’s sturdy and good for $15.
