About Kewpie Sriracha Mayo, since I hadn't come across it before.

Using 25% Sriracha and Kewpie Mayo (which is exceptionally creamy because of its unique yolk-only egg mayo makeup), this slightly spicy, velvety smooth sauce is great on sandwiches, burgers, over hot chips, as a dressing, with sushi and seafood. It’s pretty fantastic used in pretty much any way you’d use regular mayo.

Kewpie Mayonnaise Wasabi Flavour has an unique taste and good for dipping with surimi, sushi, deep fried / grilled food, veggies salad, fruit salad etc.
Wasabi Flavour: Wasabi Oil (1%), Horseradish (0.6%), Mustard

I make a Coleslaw to go with my ribs and I use the Kewpie as the mayonaise. It works really well.

          • @foxes28: Will try it - finding so many new products to try @Woolies in this Deal!
            But am getting very hungry!

          • +1

@foxes28: Mine too! It's cheaper to buy the 1L bottle from the Asian grocers

        • Sounds like worth a try. Thanks.

      • Used some Kewpie with Wasabi in Coleslaw today - gave it a nice bite.

    • I also find that Kewpie + Tabasco goes well together. It's a very versatile sauce!

Woolworth's is also now ranging Otafuku Yakisoba and Okonomi sauces. A little pricey at $5.50 per 330ml bottles though.

      Yakisoba is quick & great👍
Add some Kewpie Mayo on top.
Usually buy cheaper at local Korean shops.

    • Lots of Japanese products I wasn't aware of @Woolies.

      Shimiya Bonito Soup Stock 50g

But amongst the suggested Japanese products was Homebrand Fish Flakes 50g - food for goldfish!

My Woolies shopping list has turned Japanese this week!

    • These are 300ml.
Checked regular price $5 at Hanaromart Korean groceries in Brisbane. At one outside a Woolies.

  • Are these from Thailand or Ni Hon?

Has anyone tried using this to make those egg sandwiches that you can get in Japan? Those are seriously addicting.

      • It's a spicier Kewpie mayo.
Not bad in egg salad, but I prefer the Wasabi.

I followed this video and used kewpie and it was great. Didn't bother making the bread though, just bought a loaf from Breadtop.

      • Interesting video - just to make egg sandwich!
But making own bread takes hours! Might try with brioche loaf from Aldi.

I find that this recipe is close to the tamagosando ( 卵サンド ) you get from konbini.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JH4zEVrGzOc

7-11's and Lawson's tamagosando versions are a little sweeter due to the added sugar, while FamilyMart's version are less sweet so you may leave out the sugar if you prefer their version. The difficulty is actually trying to get shokupan, the texture and flavour of the white fluffy bread can make or break the sandwich.

      • Breadtop or other such non-branded Asian bakery usually has the good fluffy bread.

    • Eaten quite a few egg salad sandwiches at Konbini in Japan. Having been fed endless egg salad sandwiches as a child here, I don't feel any real attraction to them. They're just a quick snack - among so many other great foods there.

Still, made up a batch last week - won't be a regular thing. Will try with the other Kewpie flavours next time.

Tried with brioche loaf - wouldn't recommend as too soft.

      • Works well with the Wasabi Kewpie. Enjoyed it more than the Original.

i believe the version made in japan has higher egg content than the version made outside of japan which we typically get in australia , probably as it’s cheaper from thailand than japan, also some countries have regulation in regards to uncooked egg products.
so it might be worth reading the label if you are a kewpie aficionado.

  • I also saw this in Merrylands Aldi on Sunday night for $2.98

    • I think a few Aldi stores will still have stock. My local stores do. $2.98

      • Yeah mine still has heaps. Seems to be the standard price there.

        • It was a special order for sale. When it's gone, may not return for up to a year.
Really like the Wasabi Kewpie for $3 @Woolies.
