        • You don't know jv???…. darthsparrow lemme borrow this: "Hand in your badge, mate…" :P

  • Use a similar type all the time great for my lower back.

  • You can get these for $50 from eBay. Not the same model of course, but I got my SIL one and it's good.

  • +3

Use it on your muscles after a run or at the gym.
Use otherwise if you're aiming for that punched lasagna look, these aren't gentle.

  • +1

was much cheaper before, although never delivered :/

    • How is that cheaper then? 🤔

    • so cheaper because you don't receive it and get a refund instead making it 100% money back ?

    • Have to admit I got the thrill of getting the bargain

  • any specials on lube to go with this deal?

  • +1

Serious note, are these good for myofascial release?

    • +2

Aaaaand then you go and include the word "release"

    • Myofascial release isn't a real thing.

    • I bought my wife a Theragun for her long term myofascial pain. She tried it for a month and returned it for a refund. She would use it on her upper back and thighs until the battery ran out, about 50 minutes from memory. At first it seemed to work, but by the end of the trial period she couldn't really say if it was helping or not. It was not comfortable to use - when I held it for her the vibration irritated my skin after about 20 minutes. When she held it, it was awkward. It would be OK for it's intended usage, which is something like 3 minutes on a problem area. It's also too loud to be able to watch TV. Not as loud as a Dyson stick vacuum but still too loud. Cheaper brands are quieter but less powerful. No idea about this ALDI one.

Thanks God, finally a serious comments (although I enjoy the troll lulz). So a classic foam roller would still be better than this?

        • I’ve ordered the theragun, it should be here within a few weeks. I’ll reply to this comment to give my impressions and comparison to a foam roller

  • +2

At least it comes with some handy attachments, such as the one on the right

    • +1

I can taste the salt from here.

      • The salt shouldn’t be surprising though.

In December I did a bit of research on the theraguns after there was a OzB post…

In the end I realised that these guns are really loud and maybe underpowered, so I purchased a 6-piece Percussion Massage Tip & Bit For Jigsaws for $22 and a Bosch 18v Cordless Barrel Jigsaw $270.

My tips for people looking to make their own jigsaw system is to find a jigsaw with:
    * Adjustable strokes, the Bosch being 550 - 2700 strokes per minute, but the smaller & cheaper units were set to only a single speed
    * On/Off button rather than press-for-on makes it easier to use instead of having to hold down a button constantly
    * As light weight as possible with the above features. I knocked off 500g by going with a 2AH battery and removing the plate at the bottom

I'm really happy with the unit & it's associated power - on top of that a 6 year warranty as these tools are meant for pro use.

You 'did research' and decided a 90dB jigsaw was a better option than a 65db Hypervolt or a 70db G3p?

      Sweet.

      • It 'massages' the eardrums too…… :P

      • Looks like you are comparing sound pressure level vs sound power level. It's clearly not the same thing.

        • My bad, you decided on a 81db jigsaw. Which is only what, three times as loud as a hypervolt?

          Sweet.

What about attaching a magic 8-ball to a jackhammer? Pros/cons?

      • +1

You 'did research' and decided a 90dB jigsaw was a better option than a 65db Hypervolt or a 70db G3p?

Have you actually used a jigsaw? They're not that loud, especially when there's no blade attached that's cutting through wood or metal.
Or did you just 'do research' on how loud a jigsaw is?

        • +1

…Just had to put him on ignore, as he constantly deluges threads with his bubble views & 'amazing hindsight', telling people what they should've or could've done to prevent their 'errors'.

    • +1

      Thank you for this!

  • I saw an injured NFL player on Monday getting his calves pounded by something that looked vaguely like this. He came back on to play I think. You would not want it hammering around your groin. Or maybe you would but I wouldn't.

They obviously didn't show the cortisone injection

Pounded…. My wife's ears perked up after she heard that word

  • +4

i just wana go there the first day of the sale and watch people pick it up, read it, pretend to think about it then put it in their trolly. and try to look like the massager wasnt the entire reason they they are at aldi and 8am in the first place.
and by people, i mean 50yo women

    • +6

They can cover up the 'massager' by purchasing food for their eight cats.

      • -1

Both the massager, and cats, are more reliable than the alternative. These women can, probably, even parallel park on their own.

  • +2

I honestly thought my eyeballs were going to fall out of my head when my wife used a massage gun on my shoulders

    • +2

And did her eyes pop out of her head when you told her what it was really for?

  • +2

Has anyone seen "Top Secret". For some reaons this reminded me of the show.

My girlfriend has a similar massager, only hers is bendable and sticks to a wall.

She claims it's great for relieving her.

  • Lol man, the jokes are strong with this one lol.
Honestly, these devices are over kill, I got one of those MIC ones in hope to massage my feet Injures and was told it would be counter productive cause it is not gentle at all. In short this thing can be very strong even in base level, good for rapid muscle relaxation and other trainer recommended tasks, not for gentle massage for healing purpose. Hence for those who think it be useful for other tasks they can think of … consult medical professional before attempting to use it lol. You are warned lol.

There are more mild massagers for specialised tasks out there at different prices, just don’t think this is one size fits all magic wand lol. DO ya research before buying and ALdi better be warned on no returns for bio hazard reasons lol

  • These things are SOOOO 1084 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXqLWqCqDHc

I dropped $85 incl shipping on an eBay China massager. Going strong after a year. I was on the fence between the one I got and getting attachments for my battery powered jigsaw. So very glad I didn't go the jigsaw route!

    • What are the specs of your one?

  • Don’t get the jigsaw attachment. Too loud and gets uncomfortable quickly.

    That’s what she said

  • +1

Great deal. My wife bought two

  • In my local Aldi there are two checkout operators that are very judgmental. They do the whole smile "Hello! How are you today?" change face before scanning. Then they proceed to scan items and look at you at various items with various faces for some reason. When these come out, I hope one of or both of them are working and I can shoot some reaction videos…

  • Butthole pleasures

  • +2

Be careful people. Mistook this for a microphone and it chipped my teeth.

  • Instructions unclear. Now got ear wax lodged too far in my ear canal.

    • imagine what would happen if you tried it in THAT other canal!!

  • Hi, I have nothing to contribute whatsoever, I just knew I had to read the comments as soon as I saw this.

  • Got one for the SO who’s always mildly injured after mixed martial arts. Only three left in the Baulkham Hills Aldi when I got there at 8:45AM! All gone by 9AM. Also picked up the rechargeable blender.

    • why are these things so popular?

    • Went to 3 local stores and all sold out. So annoyed.

    • Quakers Hill sold out in exactly 1 minute.

      • Haha wow I cannot believe so many guys buy this after watching porn lol

  • +2

Got one this morning. Bit disappointing as lacking power. More fit for other purposes.

    • -3

Did you try it tho? I feel like the adult shop is a little more expensive but I'd feel safer using that.

I know in the Japanese videos tho lots of guys using power drills

    • thanks for the feedback. I have a theragun on the way (hasn't been shipped yet), and I was contemplating canceling my order for this massage gun. Was worried about lack of power that this massage gun could produce, and your comment confirmed that view.

      • -3

Thanks man but to be clear I've only seen them in the Japanese videos online. Can neither confirm nor deny the amount of raw power

    • @laser

Are you able to provide any other info on the massage gun from the packaging, instructions or warranty info?
(ie. RPM/Hz of the 3 modes? dB levels? battery capacity?).

I missed out on getting one and was just trying to compare them to the ones on eBay.

      Thanks in advance :)

  • Sold out by 9am in Lidcombe and Chullora.

All sold out in all Sydney stores by now I’m guessing.

    • North Sydney, waterloo, and eastlakes all gone

sold out everywhere within 5 minutes.

  • Sold out Aldi Melbourne Airport WESTFIELD. Sold out Parkinson QLD. Sold out Garden City QLD.

I made my own massage gun a number of months ago by getting buying a cheap ozito jigsaw from bunnings (wired ones) for around $40 and bought some massage attachments for it from AliExpress back then for about $50. I had to take apart the jigsaw to remove the guider as the attachments didn't fit with that in the way.

Anyway, in terms of use, it's only "ok", you get a lot of pounding and it is quite powerful, probably way stronger than these Massage guns, but it was way too loud and would probably cause damage to your ear drums over a long term use! I ended up selling it a few months ago.

In conclusion, I didn't find the pounding that great, and I still prefer my foam roller and lacrosse ball - with the lacrosse ball, I can get quite deep into the muscle in contrast to the pounding I get from a massage gun. So save yourself some money and don't get it is my opinion!

    • -3

haha i tried that once too

but when I used it on my girlfriend she started screaming. I couldnt tell if it was screams of pleasure or please stop… maybe both.

      We shall never know
