      • +1

sweet, am going there in 2 weeks.

    • What is a JR pass.

      • Japan Rail

  • Is the additional 8% from Shopback possible? Since needs to be in the Klook mobile app

    • +1

Yep if you have both the ShopBack and Klook apps installed, just click through too Klook on the ShopBack app and it'll redirect you straight to the Klook app.

Note these are the following cashback rate tiers as not all is 8%:

      • Tours, Sightseeing, Activities, Experiences, Food & Dining 8.00%
      • Transport and Wi-Fi 6.00%
      • Attractions and Shows 5.00%
      • Special Activities 4.00%

And Theme Parks, JR Passes are classed as Special Activities.

  • I just got 14 day all japan rail pass. Only got $22.22 back (4%).

    • I got caught out on this too. JR passes are considered Special Activities (see their terms & conditions)

      • Cheeky but free money still

Just saved $50 on universal studios japan
    Thanks!

  • Anyone independent can verify how it works and how many hassles one possibly encounters as previous reviews were not exactly favourable.

    • Bought this late last year (all bought on website) and it worked fine. They mail out the Exchange Order (like a voucher) via post and you then take it to a JR office in select train stations in Japan, where you’ll be given the JR Pass itself.

Buying from Klook was fine, but cashback takes forever. I would consider the cashback as a bonus.

      • Thanks! I am getting hungry for onigiris.

        • No worries. There pretty cheap too in convenience stores!

Most important tip about the JR Passes: treat them like your passport, as you can’t get them replaced if lost or damaged.

    • Postage is also very fast. Received mine yesterday.

I guess first time booking means you can register via referral then do your first booking through the app from Shopback?

  • Does anyone have a good resource to explain JR pass?
Going to Tokyo, osaka, hakuba in march and have no idea how to get around best.
    Cheers

      Many sources online.

Depends on how long and what your itinerary looks like.

Rule of thumb is if you travel to different cities often during 7-14-21 period then JR passes may pay off. But if you stay in Tokyo for 5 out of the 7 days then they won’t pay off.

      • +1

Also depends where you're going as well. If you're visiting a place for a day it may pay off to get a smaller pass like the Tokyo Wide Pass.

Use JR pass calculator and see if its worth buying one.

  • Looks like only works til end of April. Gf going in May couldn't select the dates

  • We are in KL now. Saw advertisements 10% off for 100 MYR. I believe I saw another for 25% off for 250 MYR spend. There are discount codes to be used for these discounts to apply. Wonder if one could buy using VPN for better discount for lower spending.

  • Still pays to shop around. I went to kidzania KL the other day and the tickets on wonderfly.asia were cheaper than klook (and there was a 6% or 8% discount code depending on the spend)

  • When it asks for "date of departure to Japan" should I put my actual date or the day I plan on activating the pass?

    • The date you will exchange the voucher

      • Customer support said to put in departure date to Japan

        • I don't think it will matter either way. They are probably just ensuring they don't send you the pass too early as they have to be exchanged within 90 days.

  • Nice, good find mate.

    • Then + vote the deal :)

  • Great find, Thanks OP!

  • Anyone having any issues booking dates for universal? when I try and select the date it is not available.

  • Just bought the All Japan JR Pass for a 21 day trip in April 2020. Getting a discount through Klook and ShopBack is awesome ! Saved enough money to buy many beers and such at convenience stores 😄

  • I just rang support who told me that any pass I buy today has to be exchanged within 90 days (around April 25) when it will expire. I am going to Japan in mid-May. Is there any way around this?

    • +1

See this comment, I'm also going mid-may and just purchased tonight.

      Also from the app:

      • You may book your tickets 6 months in advance
      • Please note: Your exchange voucher will be delivered to your address 3 months before your departure date
      • +1

Too late now as discount code has expired but too much contradictory information from Klook. Please post back with your experience, especially when you have received your exchange voucher and when it was valid to.

Hopefully there will be another offer prior to my trip so I don't have to pay full price.
