I'd be more inclined to say go learn, go google, go read haha

  • Many thanks OP, girlfriend was looking at one of these last night @ Officeworks.

The C340 is an amazing 2-in-1 chromebook. It will not disappoint.

  • -3

Still not sure where I can find this "Google" everyone keeps harping on about. So should I go for the extra two and a half incher or for the one that I can finger. I'm constantly being told that size does actually matter.

For anyone interested just came across this deal so cancelled this one and ordered the HP.

    HP HP14-DB0006AU 14" Chromebook (32GB) $239.20 with Bonus $100 Gift Card @ JB Hi-Fi

    • +1

Its not a better chromebook, it just has less features and costs less.

      • +1

Buying one each for mum and dad for just normal browsing, email, YouTube etc. No doubt these Lenovos are better but going by reviews on the thread the 14" HP sounds decent enough :)

        • +1

I hear you man, the HP is amazing value for what you're paying. I love my Lenovo C340 for the 2-in-1 capability, it works so well in tablet mode. I love being able to fold it in multiple configurations depending on my needs. I even use it on a desk in portrait mode sometimes.

I am however considering the HP for my kids to use for Playstore games and Netflix etc. It would be perfect to take on trips to keep them entertained. The low cost means I won't be upset when it inevitably gets damaged.

          • @Arcticfox: How is gaming on the c340? The hp doesn't have touch screen so not sure how that would go?

            • @Jackson: Unfortunately I haven't tried any games on it yet. Mainly use for browsing, MS excel/word, youtube and Netflix/Disney/Amazon etc.
Guess you could try k/b and mouse but that could be very hit and miss depending on the game. If you have to have touchscreen, I guess that makes the choice easy.

              • @Arcticfox: The only reason I asked was you mentioned you were thinking of getting one for the kids. The other thing it's probably missing is a gyroscope which some games use

            • @Jackson: I read in a review that the C340 is really good for games on Googles new Stadia service, but it's probably going to be quite some time before Stadia launches here due to our sub-par Internet speeds.

Good price, credit offer is disgustingly poor form though.

Added to account when the chromebook ships, expires March 16. So you get 50 days to use it. Not even 2 months. You wouldnt even get 2 months if you bought when this started on the 17th - 58 days.

Can only be used on items sold by Amazon AU, not Amazon US Or other sellers, even when fulfilled by Amazon AU. Can't be used on any digital purchases either.

Disgusting t&cs from Amazon, they're turning into the new fee-bay.

Avoid unless there is another current Amazon deal you'd use the $100 on immediately, else chances are you won't be able to use it or will pay too much to use it or buy something you don't need to use it.

    • Just get JB to price match it and get a JB $100 coupon or gift card instead.

If you get a coupon, it will expire in June but don't worry, there are easy ways around that.

      • Will you still get coupon if you get it price matched?

        • I'm not sure to be honest, but I would at least try it to find out.

      • Great idea in theory, some jbs are anal though and won't match anything online only.

        • I've done it with JB before around Xmas last year. Amazon were selling the PS4 Pro for $349 and they matched it.

They said they cannot match it if the item has limited stock or if it is a lightning sale. They should be able to match this. I don't know if it will break criteria for the $100 coupon/voucher though.

          • @Arcticfox: I've tried a few jb hifis im canberra and they refused because there was no store in Canberra, in direct opposition to their price policy. Even got a manager, no difference. I just don't give jb my business anymore, it's not worth my time to argue with them.

            • @Wilburre: Yeah, I hear conflicting stories from posters in here all the time.
My store must be one of the good ones.

              • @Arcticfox: It's really annoying because they have a policy, in writing on their website, and some stores think they're above that.

To me it's really simple - if you have a policy, stick to it. If not, don't have it at all because it's worthless if they don't adhere to it.

    • I'd also warn others if it's a promotional credit (rather than gift card) which it sounds like (since it can only be used on Amazon AU purchases), you may NOT get it back if you do a refund of whatever you purchase with it. This stung me before when I got an Amazon AU promotional credit with the same T&Cs around only using for Amazon AU stuff, and then when I went to refund something they don't refund the promotional credit so be careful what you use it for (if you are inclined to be an impulse buyer).

      • They do usually refund promo cred automatically with refunds from my experience. If that's not the case then go to help chat and they should be able to apply the promo cred back into your account.

        • I tried and they said they wouldn’t. So I guess YMMV but at this price it’s a really good deal for the C340 IMO.

          • +1

@jace88: Yep still best price for this model ever before credits/gift cards. Best deal overall was when it was ~355ish at bigw with $100 gift card. Being able to use wish giftcards at woolies for groceries is the best gift card option. No expiry, no pressure.

            • @Wilburre: Yep I got it at the $355 with a $125 gift card from big w on Boxing Day. Even better was paying using 5% off discounted gift cards to begin with (net outlay around $220)! Assuming you were happy to use amazon credit and had stocked up in discounted cards previously, this deal is pretty close (within $5-10 range).

              • @jace88: I actually tried to get it on that deal but it was "out of stock for delivery" in the ACT, and the gift card was only available for online orders. Really pissed me off and I suspect the ACT stores were trying to screw us, because they had "stock in store" at every ACT store, yet "out of stock" if you tried to deliver to an ACT address or click and collect.

Getting really sick of stores thinking they can shaft me for living in the ACT.

    • Can you share what products we can actually use the $100 on? It sounds like the $100 is simply a gimmick

      • I believe these are the terms of the coupon (posted by another ozbargainer in the $239 HP chromebook thread)

        https://pasteboard.co/IRffe7P.jpg

        • Says Item Not Found; if it isn't a mistake, it's definitely ironic!

          • @OzCheapo: Sorry, It was actually for the JB $100 coupon anyway. Have been browsing the Chromebook deals so much that I missed this was for the Amazon deal lol.

  • Is this expired? T&cs don't come up for me and nothing on product page about promo

    • Appears to be over. Think the promo ended everywhere on Jan 31st.

  • Hope my Purchase on the 31st qualifies for the credit as it hasnt shipped yet

    • To answer my own question
Had to go through chat and because it was out of stock since i purchased had to go around in circles with old mate Until eventually got the credit resolved

Got the Shopback 12% +$2 so pretty cheap way to make the missus happy

      • +1

        Winning ;-)

  • I purchased this s340 and contacted amazon and was told it was not one of the cash back models ?
Has anyone received their cash back ?
    I purchased on the 31st.

    • +1

The S340 was definitely included in that offer. Hopefully someone has taken a screenshot and can post it here.

The offer was for $100 Amazon credit so it won't show under Gift Cards in your account. To check if you received the credit, add an item sold & shipped by Amazon AU to your cart and the credit should be applied automatically at checkout.

I would just return it for a refund if they don't apply the credit, it's still within 30 days of purchase so should be hassle free.

  • Thank you.
I did screenshot it so hopefully they will honour it. I’ll try to check something out.

  • +1

It has been applied now. Thank you

    • Still haven't received mine (C340 ) but was assured that i would have it by the 10th - which was the arrival estimate (although it came on Thursday )

I have the chat transcript thankfully
