why do reps think small discounts are always "PRICE SMASHES!!!@!"

come back when you have more HP touch pads… that was a price smash!

    • +1

      lol

    • +1

I should be fair, given that the next cheapest F750/02M is 200 more, … 20% price smash?

just saying they always come on here trying to over excite the deal…

also please link to the bargain, there is nothing on that facebook page…can't find any details about it!!

    • +2

Maybe they should call it "Price Planking" since it gets people interested to see what's going on, they have a bit of a laugh, and then forget about it and move on… :)

    • -1

The laptop prices ARE pretty bloody good.

but yes… more HP Touchpads please…

      • +2

        …but it's Acer.

    • I would think the thought of posting a deal by HN is worth the credit !

  • +4

don't think it is a bargain, particularly compared to HP sale and thinkpad sale. these i7 laptop are over priced.

    • +1

the i5 for 536 is decent… given its an acer though…
doesnt say what graphics cards they are either… guess you can assume bottom end graphics… slightly better than integrated if they dont specify.

  • +1

    F750/02M comes with a 1366 x 768 resolution screen.
When will hardware manufacturers start putting decent screens in their laptops?
No laptop screen should be 1366 unless it's a netbook.

    • +1

I have no problem with 1366x768 in a 15.6" laptop. Perfect dot pitch for general use IMO.

      • Someone hasn't been eating their carrots..

    • no clue why 1366 x 768 is such a big deal..
      Got a 14" with it :|
      I don't see anything that's bad

  • +4

Arn't HN the mobs that bump up the price prior to a sale?

  • +1

What's the battery in Acer 15.6" 5750G-2414G75? I read that their standard battery lasts only about 2 hours.

    • yeah, same… 2.5 hours…

though given for the price its pretty good, im going to have to plus for the acer… even though it is an acer…

apparantly according to google graphics may be: (check before you buy)
      NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M

  • Good to see someone from Harvey Norman is at least on here looking at deals.

no freakin way, that makes it an AWESOME deal as this model is on that list!

    • Just rang the store, the attendant said there was no cashback on the acer?

  • +4

    Any cheap HP Touchpads ???

    • was about to ask the same question :)

    • For the most part so good… then they piss all over it with a rubbish display…

    • +1

For this price range, it might be a bit difficult to expect 1080p like display.
However, it is a valid point I think. A quad core i7 with hardware which can handle 1080p blu-ray decoding with ease… and everything pretty much just right, why put a rather average screen?

Apple's 15" laptops will have a better display (but they cost more). However, had this laptop got the 1080p display… a lot more people will be giving it a +ve vote. It is interesting to include a blu-ray ROM but a screen that is not capable of 1080p.

I think the promotion team at HN always forget to add a few words. It's supposed to be 'We get PRICE SMASHED by every other retailer'.

But then again, think about why they never have decent prices. HN have huge overheads, pay quite decent wages and commissions to their salesmen, they put a lot of cash into the promotional material and other things. HN just target a different group, mainly the technologically uneducated or rich group, but they still manage to make sales by doing so. Tell me how good MSYs website, store, satisfaction guarantee and customer service is, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to know that's why their prices are set so low.

    • -1

Before you go off doing a spiel how about actually commenting on the prices above? Eg, that Toshiba is actually very good value. The closest laptop from MSY in price & value is a Lenovo, but that doesn't have BluRay and relies on $150 cashback. Even from staticice the closest in price for that model is still $200 more.

    • another comment that make me lol :))

    • +1

MSY.. website (too much info cramps together)
      store (not in fancy mall)
      satisfaction guarantee (long queuing)
customer service (you'll be lucky if they smile with you!)

    Out of interest

Do Harvey Norman salesmen get paid a commission for sales each calendar month?

My experience has been they are more prepared to offer you a deal on say the 2nd last day of each month than they are on the first 20 days of a month….

  • They have the Acer @ OW, price match makes it $509, less $99 Cashback - makes it $410 all up!
But I can't get to OW until Friday, makes this deal even sweeter!!

  • Watch out for the Qosmios. They have been getting a reputation for their graphics dying. I just dealt with a Toshiba warranty repair on one and it took a MONTH! I'm not surprised they're trying to get rid of stock.

  • How can this be bargain? I got my HP core i7 for $550 (599 - $50 Amex discount) or $570 @OW, that IS bargain. This $1000+ for core i7 is definitely NOT a bargain, just normal price.

    • +3

RE: NOT a bargain, just normal price.
For Hardly Normal, being normal is a bargain!!
Why? Because they are Hardly Normal.

      • lol good one bro hahaha

  • The Acer 15.6" 5750G-2414G75 on sale for $536, according to the Acer Cashback claim site (http://www.shopacer.com.au/ecprod/ACA/Projects/CashBack/Load…)is eligible for $99 cashback until 31st October 2011. If I am not mistaken, it is the 8th computer listed from the cashback site but I am unsure if the "Bnkk" suffix makes a difference or what variation it makes to the model.

harvey Norman rep, can you clarify if the laptop you are selling is part number/SKU LX.RAZ02.121?

    • Model is LX.RHZ02.014 Not on Cashback list

  • Thanks, raginghomer, for the notification and the deal. I bought two of the Acer 5750Gs for a friend and am dead impressed with the quality and the value for money.
