Telstra Prepaid - HTC Wildfire ($149) / Samsung Galaxy 5 ($99) @ Target When Buying $50 Recharge

80

I'm looking at going from Optus Post-Paid to Telstra Pre-Paid, and also need a second phone. Was considering the Telstra Smart Touch @ $99.00, but came across this offer starting at Target on Thursday.

Looks to be good value if you buy the $50 recharge…The Telstra Pre-Paid Cap + plans are surprisingly great value for money as well.

Can't comment on which phone would be best value from the three (happy to sit back and watch) but looks great value to me if you want one of these two!

  • The HTC Wildfire is definetely the best phone to get. It often rates as one of the best budget-range Android phones around, next to the HTC Legend (Priced $100 higher than the Wildfire though)

Nice find! Usually the Wildfire goes for $199 so you're essentially getting the $50 recharge for nothing.

I use the Weekend cap plan with mine. Unlimited talk and text over the weekends. If I have a call I want to make, I usually leave it until a Saturday or Sunday unless it really can't wait so I can maximise my credit.

    • Err http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/50081 and it can be found online for $250 So not $100 more!

But I would also get the HTC

Legend back to the normal price at DSE.

If you weren't so lazy and followed the link in the EXPIRED Ozbargain deal, you'll see the price has returned to $349. $200 more than the HTC Wildfire

  • good find. thumbs up

Is there a way to unlock the locked telstra network on the htc wildfire phone?

    • It says in small on the online catalog 'network unlocking fee applies', so i guess…u can

    • Telstra can unlock it, I think it was about $20 to get my Wildfire done.

  • +2

Seems like a good deal for the Wildfire. But… (and don't flame me for asking this) but what's so good about the wildfire? I bought the Huawei Sonic for $189 unlocked at dick smith.

It has a 3.5" capactive screen with a higher res at 320x480 opposed to 240x320
It has a better processor at 600mhz opposed to 528mhz
It has less RAM at 256mb opposed to 384MB
It has a worse camera at 3.2MP opposed to 5MP

    Thoughts?

    • The Next G capabilities might be the dealmaker.
