  • No luck with freebies so far, only the mediocre deals $5 nuggets or $1 sundaes. Not very impressed so far…

  • +4

So far have won a free hashbrown and a McChicken burger. It's super annoying that the rewards always expire the next day at 3am. Basically forces you to go to Maccas ASAP if you want to take advantage of it.

    • +1

Agree. But on the other hand the deals are now daily so there's always a new one coming :)

  • +1

There must be some sort of algorithm behind this game because I have not once gotten the $2 large shake prize of which there are supposedly 153,391 available. Yet I've gotten literally dozens of the free big mac prize of which there are supposedly only 25,565 available. That seems like a statistical anomaly to me, even given the small sample size.

    • I keep winning the $9 nuggets meal (24,000), free mcchickens (25,000) yet I've only won the $5 small big mac meal once (110,000)

      • I get like 4 big mac meals out of 8 accs lol

    • Got plenty of the $2 shake offers, but no free big Macs. Only interested in those.
Only free offers: 1 fries & 1 hash brown in 18 tries.
      Far too small sample size.

  • $5 Small Big Mac Meal with Cheeseburger up for grabs!

Just out of curiosity, what game (hole-in-one / maze / dunk) do you play when you win the freebies?

    • +1

I don't even play the game. Just hit "skip gameplay" and it gives you a prize.

      • I did not know that!!!

        Thank you!!! 😊😊😊

Just tried that and won a Big Mac!!!
But I only want the coffee… Lol..

        • Won coffee today! 😄

  • I keep getting either $2 coffeys or $3 Fillet of Fish vouchers. What a rip

  • Fourth free McChicken today, and had a free coffee voucher too.

I've also had a $5 Big Mac and cheeseburger meal. Pro tip: add the order to your Favourites, and you'll be able to reorder the deal in future at 'full price' which is about $7. Not $5, but considerably less than ordering a small Big Mac meal and with a cheeseburger thrown in too…

  • Well it had to happen eventually. Tried all 20 accounts today and not a single free burger. Oh well, maybe it's a sign lol

  • I have received about 5 free burger and 2 free sundaes. And other stuff from start of promo

  • +2

Late up vote from me for the most underrates deal from Maccas this decade! Been enjoying the discounted / free burgers and coffee / desserts for a couple of weeks now. Puts HJ's shake and win to shame!

    • True but it ends in less than two weeks which is a shame

      • That's why I'm making the most of it this month!

Since no one will read this, I'll say it now. The OzBargain masses are just plain stupid. They absolutely lose it when it's $1 off a value range pizza…for a day.

There have been deals where I explain a superior current deal and no one even challenges it or replies. If it's not low IQ then it must be sockpuppeting or bots.

I don't like to be harsh but I had to get it off my chest. Gosh people are stupid.

      • I think what you're talking about is the auto up-voting of deals posted by specific users, usually from associated accounts (read: same accounts up-voting each time). I won't go onto the politics, but agree with you that some deals are exceptionally better than others, but often less visible due to other vested interests.

        • -1

Yeah, there have been a few forum topics about this. I did a quick analysis myself a year or two ago and the problem with validating these associations was that some people are (or at least pretend to be) reflex voters, so any fan-club-like up-votes get lost in the noise. I didn't want to scrape OzBargain to prove a point via statistics.

The part that strikes a nerve with me is that initiating discussion rarely gets anywhere (reminds me of certain family members and work colleagues). The first and sometimes only response will often be from someone that didn't understand any of the points you were making, so you end up having to reply to sometimes completely unrelated arguments. And then you'll have the majority that don't read any of the comments and continue up-voting and attempting to relinquish deals that have been proven fake and probably cause terminal illness.

You can normally pick the low IQ members because they down-vote but never reply to a comment. The random down-voters. To be fair, they probably can't construct a sentence.

      • There are other factors when voting on a deal:
        - Time of day and which day of the week it is posted
        - whether the deal is accessible or appealing to all (eg. Domino's is much more accessible than Lindfield Butchery)
        - whether it makes it to the front page of ozbargain
        - (and this one bothers me) if there are any referral bonuses.
        - the general ozbargain consensus. Eg. Harvey Norman, and Youfoodz are bad

        • -1

I feel ya. The referral bonus ones are really hard to drown out since everyone with a referral link gets a bit excited and become "silently complicit".

          Here's a perfect example with Transferwise: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/333640

The deal gave you a 500 GBP free transfer with a referral. I mentioned an ongoing deal (recently expired, but ran for years) that gave you a 3000 GBP free transfer and got one upvote. People continued to make comments as if my suggestion was never made. In fact years later.

I have to stop revisiting these old posts before I start yelling at clouds.

  • Wow this whole time I got one free small coffee and one free small fries. This is even more rigged than Maccas monopoly.

    • +1

As previously described - multiple emails on the same phone was allowed.

      I think I must've eaten 8 Free Big Macs.

      • I'd say I got more than my fair share of free big Macs, although there were still plenty of days I felt ripped off lol

Now back to the regular rewards which are "meh" in comparison

      • I only had two, but that was the total summation of my winnings.
One was on the very first day.
