I've got one of these, highly recommend it. Perfect for pet owners during hot summers!

  • I have a centralized air conditioning system and not split. Can this be used with that and how easy is it to fix.

    • +1

All this does is blast IR commands at the device. So if what you have has an IR receiver then it should work. Afor for installation… it just sticks to the wall. easy as!

I also have one and love it

      • Ah, thanks for that and i see what you mean. But, the thing is it does not have an ir interface

  • +1

    Also not a great deal

  • Will it work on brivis nc6. Can't find any that is compatible, besides brivis wifi.

    • No. Because the Brivis ducted heating/cooling systems don't have remote control so no IR.

I don't get these. Why not just get Kmart's Genio Universal IR Blaster for $29. Does the same stuff, just requires maybe 5 more minutes setup.

Plus it will then allow you to control your TV and anything else that works with a remote.

    https://www.kmart.com.au/product/mirabella-genio-wi-fi-smart…

Your trouble of having multiple remotes for various appliances ends here with this Mirabella Genio Wi-Fi smart remote controller.
    Universal remote control
Remotely control air conditioner, TV and more
Works with Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa
    2.4GHz Wi-Fi enabled
A full list of IR brands saved in IR codes library
    DIY IR code learning capability
    AC/DC adaptor operated
    Setup:
    Download Mirabella Genio App
Install sensor and pair with App
Control IR appliances via your smart phone

    • Sensibo has temperature sensor. So you can set and turn on & off based on room temperature. However, still think their RRP is bit expensive than competitor.

    • does the kmart stuff show up as a thermostat in google home? I have broadlink mini beans, while i can say 'hey google set the study climate to cool 20*' the google home just works as a bridge once its blasted that command it doesn't store it and work back. I had one setup through home assistant which reported as a real thermostat in google home and you could ask google what the study was set too and the interface on a screen was heaps better. If you want the nice screen interface for the broadlink you have to use their app which is ok if a little glitchy.

      • No. But you could get a ZingBee or even Bunnings new Smart Home Sensor Pack (in a slow rollout) for $80 that would allow you to do that.

      • Actually, in Genio app there is Automation (kind of rule sets, if temp > 20 then do turn AC on/off). I think the Genio can read the temp from your mobile phone/whether app.
Of course its not that accurate if you have the real sensor

Sensibo has more features, and also the simplicity / "it just works" factor (getting "learning" IR blasters to work with some HVAC systems isn't easy - obviously brand/model dependant though, with some it's very simple).

Agree Sensibo is a little on the expensive side (especially at RRP), but they are very good at what they do. FWIW I'm completely capable of getting a generic IR blaster to do the same thing, but still chose to buy 4 x Sensibos (2 x original "pods" years ago, and 2 x Skys more recently), and am completely satisfied with that choice. Just comes down to how you personally value features vs simplicity vs price.

      • +1

Ditto. I could set up a DIY solution with a blaster and temp/humidity sensor, but that's two devices and two power bricks, and possibly up to three or four apps to get them talking to each other and setting schedules etc. But with non-tech people in the house it just isn't worth the hassle, the "just works" solution is worth the extra cost.

  • Has anyone got a harmony hub working to do something similar?

    • They are supposed to but my harmony hub just doesn't work!

  • +1

    What are some cheaper alternatives?
    Broadlink RM Mini?

  • How does this compare to the Wi-Fi add ons you can get with new Daikin, Panasonic ACs

    • +1

Compared to the daikin wifi add on and app it's way better. Simple and easy to use, much quicker to respond.
I 100% recommend this over the daikin wifi and app.
      Can't comment on other brands.

      • Thanks

      • Do you have a Daikin ducted system with a wireless remote? I've got one with just a wall panel, hoping there's some way to add this to my house…

  • Not perfect, and not cheap, but works well enough for me to strongly recommend with very few hesitations. Support is responsive to issues. Works with Siri, and that's all I want - I setup basic presets like "hey siri, turn the cooler on". Or as my brother has his configured "hey alexa, turn on the weather wizard".

  • I've got a Daikin ducted system in my house with a wired control panel… I'm thinking this limits me to purchasing Daikin's Wi-Fi controller, right? Is there any way I can somehow gain Google Home functionality?

    • Yep, most central ducted systems come with wired wall control panels so this is not use to them.

  • +2

The one thing I really hate about Sensibo is it doesn’t support all wifi password. If your used extended characters you’ll have to change your wifi password (to an arguably weaker one) … which then means resetting every other device in the house. This also isn’t made obvious in the setup but something you have to dig around to find out when your stuck in a loop. If you’re going to make a wifi device it should at least fully support wifi standards.

    • It also doesn't support hidden SSID's

  • Looks like only the grey is available for this price. If you select the white version from the same listing it is an extra $10 :(
