I have a 2018 Sony smart TV and the smart interface was clunky since purchase. After the most recent update its been a bit better but it's still way clunkier than I would expect from any interface in 2020.
Would love a good dumb panel with CEC at a fair price…

Could you not just connect an external device and utilise it's OS and features? You'd only be dealing with start up of the TV, whilst the external device should stay quick and responsive.

So many confusing model names with Samsung tvs.

The Q75R is referred to as the Q70R elsewhere.
Also, some models may be slightly different to the US model e.g. The Q80R in Australia comes with the One Connect Box whereas in the US it does not.
How does this compares to Hisense 65R8 which is going for around $1200-$1300?

I've been running the latest firmware available over the air for a few months tho called Hisense today who emailed me a link to a new version supposedly about a week old. Fingers crossed as its pretty bad
Isn't the R8 an edge lit QLED display whereas this one is a back lit QLED display? The Q75R should be a big jump from the R8.

I had the good guys price match appliance online over the phone, they then sent me a link to my phone to pay. I noticed they had to separate the delivery so i tried my luck by walking into jbhifi and showing them the link the good guys sent me. The boss had to sign it off and said it was a steal of a deal. Bought in November last year got $2k, great tv for the price.
Only negative comment would be that setting it up with a samsung soundbar was not as easy as I would have hoped. Still can't figure out how to get the soundbar to turn on with the tv remote.
im currently trying to work this out also, it can turn it off but wont seem to turn it on when the tv turns on.
Try in the settings so HDMI CEC is linked up. Then you can control main functions with one remote.
i reset my tv to factory, when through and set it all up again and its come good

theres a code FEB2020 which reduces price to 1592 and they beat by $10 of their own volition.
Bad news for everyone that ordered via appliances online, they don’t have enough stock to fulfil orders so have started issuing refunds. I ordered on Friday and Just received my cancellation email now.

Maybe a crazy question but the last two smart TVs, LG and Samsung were great when I bought them, but the smart bits slowed wayyyy down after about 1.5-2 years. Are there any great Samsung, LG, reputable brand TVs at this size, 65”, that aren’t smart smart so I can just plug in an Apple TV? (Which has stayed silky smooth for years).
Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks!
