    • +3

But but it's an iPhone !!!

      • +2

slow cpu, crap camera …uh ..wait … let me guess your reply: "I don't care" :)))

      • +11

This was clearly sarcasm, how can you not see that ?

        • +2

they really need to create an sarcasm font

      • and u can jailbreak it for kicks too! :D lol

    • +6

it has the gbs and the wifi

  • +19

It is scary how many people will buy this just because it is an iPhone.

    • +8

Yea. Totally unbelievable that this crap can still be sold above $400 and labelled as a bargain…

      • A bloody dumbarse who idealy shouldn't be on this planet is born every second. And Apple caters for them all. Number one choice!

  • +6

Not a good deal. You would be crazy to buy this over some of the sub-$400 Android alternatives.

    • +2

      mmm…

iPhones have and always have a price premium over other smart phones, and on the face value, and if you want a iPhone. This is a deal.

    • -4

Why? If the iPhone has the applications or whatever the buyer wants then it's quite possibly the right choice for them.

  • +6

steve jobs legacy. it'll be worth a gazillion billion dollars in a few years. i'm getting 5 and keeping it mint in box

  • +11

For those ignorant people, please watch this. Kthx. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FL7yD-0pqZg

      that was so funny xD.

      Thanks for sharing!

  • There have been many rumors this week about a cheaper iPhone 4 8GB to be released "within weeks".
    http://www.itnews.com.au/News/267857,apple-building-cheaper-…

    • 8GB is way too small. 16GB or higher otherwise it's mostly useless.

      • I had my 16GB 3GS for almost 2 years and probably filled it with less than 5GB. MY GF has a 8GB 3GS and it wouldn't even have 1GB of stuff on it.

There are heaps of people that use these as communication devices, not media players. In our house we have "proper" devices for music and video, and media is streamed from the network anyway… we'd never bother storing it on our phones.

Imagine the PAIN (trying) to sync 16GB through iTunes… that is the stuff of nightmares!

        • I have about 22gb of 32 gb free on mine

  • The phone alone is 399 but you have to buy the $30 optus recharge. =S. Its an OPTUS PREPAID bundle deal everywhere . Whoever wants an iphone and doesn't mind to be with optus its certainly a bargain.

  • +2
  • not a good bargain.
Can get 16gb iphone 4 for $600 on ebay.

  • -1

    • +3

      • +13

including a bride with ping pong skills?

      • -2

$200 or less and then you can buy an iPhone ;)

        • -2

:( Nobody ever gets my jokes. :Foreveralone:

        • +1

          So stop making them…

      • -1

u can even buy a bride who owns an iPhone 4 in thailland for $200 or less

      • Yeah but its always a knock off. SAME, SAME BUT DIFFERENT

  • +2

    "If you don't have a iPhone…"

    • …doesn't mean you have an Android.

  • well quite a good price considering a used 3G still sells for $350 and 16gb about $400..

    • +1

what planet are you living on?

      • earth

        • +5

          Therein lies the problem.

    • -3

      It's a sh*t phone though, and this isn't a deal, and shouldn't be posted on OzBargain…

Anyone who gives this deal a +ve vote shouldn't be on OzBargain…

    • same price different store not technically a dupe

  • +1

Optus stores sells the same thing $429 with bonus $50 recharge voucher

  • what do you guys think of second hand (very good condition) ipohne 3gs 16gb for $250 ?

    • ripoff

    • bargain because a 16gb 3G still goes for $300 regularly on ebay

    • $100 + I'll throw in another 20 Maxibons on the top of that

  • I wouldnt pay a dollar more than $99 for this considering its old.

  • +1

Why are iphones so expensive? Just get an ipod touch and gaffa tape a cheapy $50 mobile to it and you've got exactly the same functionality at half the price.

    • +2

      $50 - say what?

I got the Huawei for $1 from the recent Australia Post deal. That'd do!

The gaffa tape's gunna cost me more than the phone LOL

  • +3

I paid 380$ for my LG 2x (new). Dual core CPU, 8 mp camera, hdmi out…. Yea I think I know what a bargain is… no deal

      • -4

that's only talking about sales in the last 12 weeks…. doesnt count total sales, and puts ALL android phones from different companies against apple iphone. its great that android phones are doing better, but its hardly a cause for celebration.

also remember that iphone 5 coming out soon. sales numbers are going to change a lot when apple releases that. but total volume??? its not even close- apple by a mile.

dont get me wrong, i never said android is crap… just saying that there are many thousands more owners of iphone than android. apple do what apple do best… spend craploads telling people how good their 'new' product is, and just wait for the cash to roll in. the competitors then copy the market leader, hoping for a slice of the action. nothing wrong with that- but dont go complaining when apples market share dominates the market.

i got an iphone not because I love apple (i hate them). its just that its so damn easy to use. when it first came out, there was no android. and now that I have all my thousands of songs on itunes (and dont want to have to import them all again), i'm 'stuck'…. but im happy.

    • I'm guessing you're waiting for the iPhone 5/4S.

      • +2

my 3gs is still going strong.

when that dies, i'll buy an iphone 7 or something. i'm sure they'll keep pumping them out like they always do. sad I know, but you stick with what you know and what works. itunes/apps/music/podcasts etc…. it suits me fine to stick with apple (even though they get to control everything).

    • +3

I guess it pays off to actually verify your facts :P. And no-one thinks Apple is the 'devil,' - people just think it's stupid to watch money burn when you can buy a product that is 2-3 times superiors (technically speaking) than an iPhone, for 1/2 - 1/3 of the price. If people love like the iOS, and are too lazy to adapt to the more cost-efficient Android, then obviously, by all means stick with Apple - it just doesn't make you a bargainhunter, since all that's happening is that you're paying many, many more $$$ just for the ease of not changing.

      • +2

I think 2-3 times may be pushing it. Apple has a few things going on for them which gets them a big fanbase.
        1. Ease of Use, I have seen soccer moms and aged folk struggle with android while iOS is much easier for them
        2. Retina Display, need I say more?
        3. App Store, although you'd be hard pressed to find a similar app not on android. Exceptions exist like Omnigraffle[iPad] and Instagram.
        4. Existent fanbase like UFO

BTW I own a Galaxy S2 and envy the 960*640 display

        • +1

2-3 times isn't pushing it at all when you compare similiar spec items.

          1. Ease of use - Android's aren't archaic bricks that are difficult to use. Sure, it's different to Apple, but a lot of the functions are similar or exact same. So just having minor tweaks here and there that make it more accessible (to some) doesn't warrant the insane price difference. If you can use an iPhone, you can use an Android.

          2. Retina display - not limited to only Apple, http://www.engadget.com/2010/10/04/sharps-is03-android-phone…. http://www.gottabemobile.com/2011/07/25/lg-to-unleash-retina….

          3. App store - You'll also be hard pressed to find apps in itunes that only appear in the Android marketplace. The app stores shouldn't even be an issue since both had many, many apps that can substitute for ones missing from the other.

          4. Existent fanbase - as if that's a reason's to save $$$?!

      • dupe

  • My 3GS is still going strong, jailbroken now. Still, not really a bargain until it's $299.

How many of you android owners are 100% happy with your phone? Most people hate theirs that I know of, with the exception of Samsung Galaxy owners.

    • +2

I have an iPhone 3GS and an Android Samsung Galaxy Tab. I bought the Galaxy Tab to "assess" android as my iPhone contract is up for renewal & I want a new phone. I have to say that they each have their strengths and I will find it hard to give up the iPhone for a number of reasons. The 3GS is much smoother running (consistantly) than the Tab which is just not a pleasure to use. I plan to root it and install another ROM which is supposed to fix this but I shouldn't have to.
I listen to heaps of podcasts in my car which has an Alpine deck with apple docking connector and I just plug it in, start the car and the podcast starts where I left off yesterday. When I turn the car off the podcast pauses ready for the next day. I also have full control of track skipping and fast forwarding using the steering wheel controls and this is all without ever even opening the iphone case/cover. I am not aware of any Android phones doing this (I am happy to be corrected). There are also some key apps (like Pennytel VOIP) which Android doesn't have. There are ways around it but none that just work out of the box.
Android has many advantages such as true multitasking, widgets, direct dump of data over USB and others. I really want Android to be "killer" but there are just some things that iPhone (yes even a 3GS) does better. It is mainly in the areas of simplicity, smoothness, availability of accessories, accessory integration, apps, pollish in general.

I am about as techy as they come and my house is filled with gadgets so it is not that I am a low tech user. I find that most of the people that say how crap iPhones are have never actually owned one. I like to be well informed on both sides of the fence and I will still find it hard to ditch the iPhone for an Andoid phone beacuse of some key functionality I will loose.

I am not suggesting this is a bargain at this price I just find it annoying with so many people touting how wonderful Android is without having experienced the "dark" side. I am still undecided.

      • Sorry but the tablet isnt really a phone. Try the Glaxy S 2, HTC Snesation or simlar high end phone and let me know what you think :)

        • Yes it is a phone (has SIM card and can make calls) but I do agree that there are faster models out now. They however probably make up the top 5% of Android phones available. The rest of the Android range would be similar or lower spec than the Galaxy Tab. And this was only one of of many points I made.

  • +6

People should really stick to the point on whether this specific post is a bargain, not whine about apple and their love of inferior android try hard phones. Can you get cheaper android phone? yes, that's not the point. If you were after this phone is it a bargain?? There is a reason the iphone and ipad are the most popular, they work and are easy to use, regardless of specs. If specs matter to you fine, don't buy apple. But preaching about android and the five android apps that are available is getting boring.

If you don't like apple, then buy adroid, but please stick to whether this is a bargain or not based on price for this product.

    • +1

      amen ;).

  • the phone itself is good.
(yes I know the 3gs is 2 years old and iphone 5 will be out next month)
I am using one right now (with all my fav apps and more)
it's the apps + the phone interface that kept me happy, not the physical phone.

The physical phone itself doesn't worth much.
I would not spend more than $200 for it.

one has to remember that after you buy the phone, you need money for the apps too.
