Cheaper at BingLee and the last time I ordered it, it was also digital download and activation key sent via email within an hour

Great value subscription, and I hate subs…but i usually pay 80something/90 at bing lee or so with a 20% ebay code.

  • +6

This is normal price, not a deal.

  • fyi - BingLee on Ebay - $96 - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Microsoft-Office-365-Home-Digita… - POOL3 promo code will be $93.12, or spend $4 to use PICK100 to discount $10 effectively $90. OR… you can wait for BingLee ebay to have those 20% off deals to bring it down further.

  • +3

Always been cheaper at Bing Lee. Even cheaper during their eBay sotre 20% discount

    • Agreed. Better deals out there.

Remember its free if you're in education.

      education isn't free…

      • My workplace is loosely associated with a university. So free for me!

It is if you vote Labour

        • Lol

    I've always paid around $80/$90 the last 4-5 years…

I've been using this mob if I can't get the Bing Lee discount:
    https://www.saveonit.com.au/product/microsoft-office-365-hom…

$92 - still cheaper than OPs

    • +3

      $87.40 with OW price match

      • Yep, done both recently.. TGG match too if u have a $20 concierge voucher it’s even better

  • How can I buy a key?

  • There is also the online version at office.com https://products.office.com/en-au/free-office-online-for-the…
Not all features but might be enough for some people.

  • I look at it as, 6 x 1TB cloud storage is worth it for that alone - and get office for effectively for free

    • 1tb per person though right? Not 6tb for one person. You can get 2tb Google drive for $120 a year with no discount.

      • yes 6 lots of 1tb. So my son's account does certain types of data, my wife's account does another etc.

        • you can have 6 users accounts in 1 computer, just need to switch between them

  • Most people would be better off getting office 2019 rather than be stuck on yearly subscription for ever.

Main benefit with 365 is onedrive storage.

    • And the updates. It's much better value long term not having to worry about document versions etc.

      • -1

        I think updates are overrated.

        • +1

Then why not pick up a 2011 version of office for cheap?

    • The ability to install on up to 6 devices is the main value here.

    • i only use the 6x1TB one drive …. i dont install the office

    • +1

its the 6 licenses for me, also its often tax deductible. I think the official RRP is $139 and we use 5 of the 6 licenses, given i pay less than $100 a year that $20 per year for office before tax.

Who needs Offices from MS if there is a free one from Google? If you don't like online, there is also free standalone analogs like Open Office.

  • I would never pay a yearly subscription for MS Office, or any other office suite. I wouldn't even spend $100+ once.

I use TextMaker/Ashampoo Office, which is very cheap and does everything I need. Unless you actually need to use Outlook, then I would say that for most people buying MS Office is a waste of money when there are number of cheap alternatives, many of which are free.

Like many have commented that for us it's the cloud storage that has the dollar value and the office stuff is therefore a nice side bonus.

      • That makes sense, but personally I would never use either MS or Google for cloud storage.

        • Depends on the needs.

You can use it alongside your NAS for a encrypted backup storage.

        • Can you recommend someone better for cloud backup? As others have said, approx $90/year for 6TB seems like a good deal?
My NAS provides one level of backup, but it's not off-site.

@CacheHunter: It's a very good deal. I just don't want Microsoft or Google having my (not encrypted) files.

          • @CacheHunter: Backblaze is pretty good as well.

I pay around $1/year for storage there.

  • just the concept of paying for office confuses me

  • For those who bought from Bing Lee for 80/90, do you pay that amount annually for however long you keep it, or 80/90 in the first year only and then pay an increased amount in later years?

    • by default Microsoft will try to bill you $129.
Need to shop around every year

      • Thank you that is helpful, what a bummer that is
