a creative way to stay out of touch?

  • Blast it.

  • Creative Aurvana SE is just the CAL with a new coat of paint, isn't it?

    Seems good value for $70.

    • What's CAL?

      • Creative Aurvana Live!, a modified pair of Fostex over-ear, closed back headphones that people loved as a budget recommendation (some still do).

I'd personally get the Takstar Pro 82 V2 from TakstarAudio @ AliExpress when on sale (~$75 with 15% cashback and vouchers) over these, but they are two different sound signatures.

        • Thanks, which fosteks are they thought to be?

          • @Punkboy: Apologies, it's a Fostex driver, but the original model was the Denon AH-D1000.

Fostex's usage of this driver tends to be much more expensive (and more refined). The current Fostex offerings would be the TH610, the TH900 series and the Drop TH-X00.

            • @jasswolf: Yeah I was trying to imagine a $60 Fosteks equiv:-)

              • @Punkboy: TBF, the Denon versions were typically not cheap either. The CAL is a solid warm headphone, but I would rather spend that money on the Pro 82, so long as you aim for the v2, as the older batches tend to have enormous QA issues due to being discontinued, not to mention tuning issues. It's not a warm signature, but it is sweet.

If you need something warmer, there's probably better options these days, if you're willing to deal with international stock.
