you can use it 4/5 times.

for who with monkey or donkey?

    Are these Corona proof?

  • Which variety is the best?

    • I tend to use the powder free ones but I have no allergies.

Finally I can look like a tattoo artist

Use these for anything/everything. Avoid extra contact & extra cleaning when working with kitchen, garden, cleaning, garage… oils, chemicals, fuels etc. From mixing mulch, to prepping a roast turkey.

    • +4

you had me at roast turkey

      • +1

        That was the end 😁

    Two types listed.

    1. Latex - good all rounder gloves, stretchy and comfortable for kitchen and garden. But some will develope a sensitivity to it after prolonged use. (After a couple of years I developed an allergy to latex)
    2. Vinyl - for those who are sensitive to latex, they are Oki to use in kitchen, they are very weak and easily rip in garden, just a slight snag on plants and pebbles will rip it.

Shame they don't have nitrile on sale

More landfill. What's wrong with just washing your hands?

    • +36

Nothing wrong just preference. What's wrong wiping your ass with your hands then washing? Nothing! Just wash your hands.

      • +9

Life hack and save 36c a roll! You need to wash your hands afterwards anyway so no additional expenses on soap. Thanks for the tip

      • Can't have that sort of preference if someone is working with food though.

      • Do you wash your hands after wiping your arse or just use disposable gloves?

    • +1

I use these because I have sensitive skin which gets agitated by dishwashing chemicals. Also means I am not afraid to touch dirty things since I’ll throw the gloves out afterwards.

      • +5

Making even more waste than we already have…..

      • +11

Don't you use the thick green reusable ones for dishes? Seems like a waste throwing a pair everytime you need to wash

        • +1

I've tried those but they also caused me to itch.

The other benefit I've found to using these types of disposable gloves is because they feel cleaner (shrug), I also use it when I'm washing/sterilising baby stuff in the microwave steamers and then putting them out to dry on the rack.

Anyway don't get me wrong, I'd rather not have to throw a pair of gloves out everytime I do the dishes and baby bottles/etc… but after having really bad skin and trying every cream/steroid/etc I could find, the gloves seem to have done the trick.

          • +2

@jace88: Cotton gloves perhaps and reusable ones on top?

    • +2

I use them for airbrushing warhammer mini's lol

    • +1

No matter how thorough you wash your hands, skin always shed, under finger nails are almost impossible to wash. When prepare food that how we get salmonella and e-coli poisoning.

As the saying goes, the dirtiest place on your house is your hands 😁

      • That's called extra seasoning.

    • +3

Are you really so sheltered that you don’t know why people might need gloves?

      • -1

        OP said kitchen not bedroom.

    • Was my first thought as well. More disposable junk for the environment.

    • No thanks, I would rather wear gloves when changing the oil in my vehicles. You can't wash carcinogenic off…..

    • +6

You'd know whats wrong if you have marinated meat or veg with a spicemix that has turmeric using bare hands

      • -2

        I use a brush which I wash.

      • Exactly this. Tumeric!!

        • No need for fake tan then

          • @buckster: It looks like that is what our Commander-in-Chief uses.

    • +3

I think for regular use this would be bad for the environment. But. I use these for 2 things: dealing with hot peppers, and cleaning up after sick kids that puke (in case it's gastro). I don't use them often, but boy am I glad when I do.

    • I use them when cutting up and gutting chillies. Don't feel like having tingling fingers for hours afterwards, or risking touching sensitive bits.

    • Do you say that when you go to the doctors? Dentist? Hospital?

    • Are you saying that you wouldn't bother with gloves if the guests were not watching?

  • +4

My wife is an in home carer for the elderly and disabled, she goes through a pack of these every few weeks.
Many more uses than just food and dirt protection, shame those complaining about extra waste in the landfill can't see that.

    • +5

Exactly. When looking after frail or sick people, gloves are vital.

In dealing with spread of any flu virus, gloves are a major line of protection. Thousands can die from the seasonal flu in a year in Australia. Most of those will be the vulnerable old & young.

It is possible to pick up a virus through touching surfaces with your hand & then touching your face, or spreading to others.

      Thank goodness for carers!

    • +1

Except 95% of consumers are using this to cut onion and garlic because they can't be bothered washing their hands.. if your wife is a carer her work should supply medical gloves regardless..

      • +2

True. The point was there are other worthwhile uses for gloves. I'd rather smell of onions than of gloves!

As a past carer for a frail family member, I needed to buy gloves to limit my potential spread of viruses to him - primarily after I went into public spaces. And have spares in case a carer had run out of theirs.

    • +1

Agree that there are tons of use cases for gloves, just not general at home food prep as suggested in the op.

  • Great for doing engine oil changes :)

FYI, $5.50 is the normal price for these at Bunnings.

These ones are just creating rubbish for animals to choke on and future generations to clean up. Get re-usable ones or look for solutions to minimise waste if you must go with "one use" gloves.

You might downvote this post, that's fine, I am not worried about myself, but about these guys that are having a hard time due to our choices:

Two thirds of all Australia’s 28 million shearwaters have ingested plastic in the stomachs, the lead analyst of a three year marine debris research project says. link

IAN HUTTON: We did find a bird with 274 pieces of plastic in its stomach and it was the equivalent of a human carrying 12 kilograms of plastic in their stomach. So it was 15 per cent of the body weight of that chick. link

40% of Laysan Albatross chicks die before fledging. Necropsies of the chick's stomachs found them filled with plastic trash link

  • Agree with JetBombat. I am surprised by the upvotes and number of people buying and adding to the rubbish.

  • Why do they only come in medium? I've only got an average size hand and they are too tight. Will not buy again.
