[NSW] Free Microsoft Windows 10, Office 2019, Adobe Software to NSW Department of Education and Communities Students

350

Not exactly a bargain as you need to have a kid, but if you obtain @education.nsw.gov.au student email then "All NSW Department of Education school students are eligible to download and licence Adobe and Microsoft software from this website". My understanding is you need to speak to your school teacher/office staff who can obtain the user/pass details for your child via the EMU application.

List of free apps are

  • Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Adobe Captivate 2017
  • Adobe Photoshop Elements 2020
  • Adobe Premiere Elements 2020
  • Adobe Presenter 11
  • Windows 10
  • Office Professional Plus 2019 (PC Only)
  • Office Home & Business 2019 (MAC/PC)

i have 5 kids, how do you get the edu email?

    • +1

Depending on what year they are, they should already have it.
      For my kids it is
      <firstname>.<lastname>#@education.nsw.gov.au
      Password : class name

"#" is if your child has a common name and so you will need to enter a number

      Your class teacher should know

      • What do you mean class name?
        what would that be?

        • +1

class name would be for example: K2 , 4b, 6h.
For our school that is what they have named the classes.. might be different for your child's school

          • @googoogaga: Very likely different; My primary school set it to house color + a random number to boot, but it was highly encouraged to reset the password, and in High School the account just carried over with the different password.

Also I'd like to point out you really only need the emails for verification of account status, and that you still need to create an account with onthehub

          • @googoogaga: would they be eligible if kid is in Kindergarten?

      • would it be possible this email is only available to public schools?

        • +1

correct, will vary but private schools will get at least Office.
Ask your kids for their email address and how to access their portal (usually www.office.com). They will know.

          • @battler: i know their emails are on gmail with no external access, that's only school can email them, and its on school provided ipads. i will check tonight, thanks.

@UncleCheapSteam: It may be the case that the school has dropped MS Office and running 100% G-suite (google apps/cloud).
A bit of googling seems to confim there may well be instances of this, for example (google searched only, no official knowledge/confirmation):
              https://www.sunshineharvesterps.vic.edu.au/page/149/Chromebo…

              • @battler: Would make sense if they are already just paying for G Suite and gapps + infinite Google Cloud is already being paid for and available.
Also I've heard of lots of places moving to chromebooks as well which would also suggest a G App oriented system.

Can you use someone else kid?

    • Sure!

  • you can buy an edu address off ebay, because its usually American you can get 6 months free amazon prime (must not end in AU and be registered on amazon.com) which includes prime video. I'm a student in Victoria at the moment and I got Microsoft office 365 for free for my Mac and you also get unlimited storage in google drive if the institution registered it.
Think its like 5 devices per edu address that can get office 365 (Powerpoint, one note, excel, outlook and word)

  • normal price of these software is still cheaper than a kid

kid is free, only maintenance cost is high

      • Making a kid is the only free part (most of the time). After that is when the expenses start.

So no love for other states?

Ed Qld has a similar agreement with Microsoft and Adobe…based on my experiences.

  • I have a couple of kids in highschool and got microsoft office a couple of years back. But can't get the adobe one…based in Vic.

  • Thanks for this. Just downloaded Microsoft Office 2019 using my Kindergarten son's email address.

    • How did you manage to find Office 2019? I'm logged in with my son's email but the Microsoft program list is empty. Searching for Office doesn't get any hits either.

      • We have the same problem.

  • Microsoft Office and Windows are not available from onthehub. Reported to remove from title and description.
