      Actually chortled at this comment…!

    • +1

couldn’t care less if they were racist

      Were?

They were caught…. But I'm sure they are still racist.

Media reports indicate this was a pattern, not an aberration.

    • +2

What does you being Asian have to do with anything? You cant make this statement if you not asian?

  • +8

    Love these deals. Thanks!

  • +4

Racist remarks aside. The only reason I haven’t been jumping on these deals is because of the portion size. Too small, need at least 1.5 to be satisfactory let alone full. So I’m calculating price based on that. ~$9 a meal is too much.

    • +2

Name a cheaper comparable product, and that would be valid. Meal prep sizes are small. The other services/products I’ve used (my muscle chef, chef good, solara…) are much more expensive per meal - allbeit better quality than youfoodz imo. But this is definitely a bargain no matter which way you look at it, definitely not worth a neg

    • -2

Sounds like you've got an eating disorder.

      • +1

Nop. But you do if this is sufficient. At 1200 calories a day (assuming 3 meals) you’re quite under your daily energy requirement intake. Either that, or you’re a child. I suspect the latter.

  • +1

    Great deal.

  • +6

I came for these comments, love it when YF deals are posted! lmao

  • +3

I share the sentiment that the quality might be going downhill a little, though not prepared to give it a downvote

For example, the spaghetti bolognese used to be great but is now mediocre

These days YouFoodz should only be around $5/meal

    • +1

The pasta sauce they changed to last year for the spaghetti and the lasagne ruined what was one of the best lasagnes I’d ever eaten. But the chefs just tweak over time. One thing I like about youfoodz Is their menu changes regularly so I lost the lasagne I loved but I gained the Thai fish curry and the roast pork which is excellent

  • Money doesn't discriminate, if you don't want to buy from them because they're racist that's fine just stop complaining and go back to your eternal bitch corner.
I say this as an asian who's embraced multiculturalism in this fine motherf*cking country,
I don't want to walk through a crowd of vegans just to get into my local KFC to get a feed goddamn

  • +1

Quality has gone down hill. No longer a bargain

  • +2

Portion has shrunk considerably. At least two boxes a meal to be full. Quality now is so so.

  • +2

    Portion size has decreased.

  • +4

Definitely not a big fan of the new portion size and not to mention the news surrounding them around racism

  • +4

    Racist company. Go away

  • +2

    Quality not great

  • +2

Please be aware that the quality control and standards aren't the best in my opinion.

My work colleague got salmonella from one of the chicken options last year, and my dish had styrofoam fragments in it.

I received a refund and never ordered again.

    • +6

How on earth did your mate pinpoint salmonella poison to that certain meal? Did he get it tested? You know it can take days for food poisoning symptoms to show?

  • +3

    Portion size too small!

  • +5

It takes a special kind of stupid to post your own explicitly racist comments on your own Instagram.

    • Where the hell else are you going to post it?
It would be a special kind of stupid to post it on the company's instagram, but his personal one?

People are ignoring the undeniable good an Australian owned company does, like provide jobs, pay tax, and offer a clearly desired product.
Newsflash: Most CEO's are arrogant and self important.
That doesn't mean the hard working staff who actually make up the real company deserve to have their job evaporate on them.

Screw the CEO, he seems like a jerk, but I'm not going to treat the entire company with the same wide 'white knight' brush.

      • The smarter option was not to post the comments on social media at all and just remain a closeted racist. The even smarter option would be not to be racist and make such comments at all.

I'm not going to deny that there is some good out of Australian owned companies like YouFoodz, but such racist comments can have a massive impact on the targeted community of the racism. I know Asian Australian who were highly uncomfortable about the comments and it made them feel like they didn't belong in Australian society. It makes them feel marginalised and excluded from Australian society when people with influence and power make such comments. Australians should take a stand against such comments and the people who make them. We should stick up for the marginalised in our community, not allow them to be marginalised with little repercussions for the perpetrators of racism.

You have to think is supporting a medium sized business run by a racist CEO/founder worth it for the sake of potentially saving a few jobs. For me the answer is no, we can't allow a whole ethnic community to be alienated and treated like second class citizens in the name of potentially saving a few jobs.

CEOs and business leaders should be smart enough to realise that their actions and comments impacts more than just themselves; it impacts employees in their business as well. Of course when you make such racist comments and post it on social media you clearly aren't thinking about your employees or the target of your racism.

If YouFoodz does go out of business because of a boycott and there is really a demand for such a business, a new business will arise and take its place. Jobs will be created in this new business, meaning that there will be little/no net loss in overall employment in this area. The only person to have lost their job would be the CEO/Founder; this would be the optimal outcome.

  • +3

Small portion. Like a baby meal

  • Waistist

  • -5

honestly what was racist about the videos?

    • -3

Ok 2 downvotes… Still waiting an actual answer..

    • Trying to figure it out as well….

    • +1

Are you sure you've seen the right video? I mean, the link + discussion is here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/494589

  • +1

    Small sizes

  • +1

    Smalll

  • +1

Sorry OP, youfoodz is my nemesis. But in all honesty, their food just too small and shite. You better off buying cheap takeaway during food court closing times. Still cost you less than 6 dollars.

    • +1

      nemesis
      /ˈnɛmɪsɪs/
      noun
      "a long-standing rival; an arch-enemy."

      …Interesting.

  • -1

Seriously people, just cook your own food, it's not hard!

    • +1

Really? It's 2020, next you'll be saying drive your own car, do your own: homework, laundry, spouse, etc, etc. The list goes on and on.

      • -1

Yeah and wait more than 5 mins for something… you're right, what was I thinking.

  • +1

Wow a YouFoodz post! Better get the popcorns ready =]

  • Don't care about any 'omg dats rayscist!' claims. Least of my concerns really. The serves are just no longer good quality, taste or size.

  • +2

Just get Hello Fresh and learn to cook yourself!

    • +4

Not everyone in this world is physically healthy enough to achieve this.

Also for me personally, I'm time poor and would rather this than fast food.

  • +4

I just upvoted because of the irrational neg party that lacks consistency

  • Owners and business practices aside, I'm noticing that these deals are getting way more common. After all the other costs I can't imagine they're collecting much off the top at this price. They used to be roughly once a month, then fortnightly, now they seem to be weekly. Will be surprised if these guys see the year out at this rate.

    • +2

It’s been weekly for a very long time, I’ve never paid full price and I have been ordering almost weekly for two years at least. The discounts have usually been much the same so I assume they are merely discounting to the profit margins they expect selling to the retailers. The same delivery drivers deliver the retailers orders too so I guess there’s some economy of scale if they can maximise the deliveries their drivers do each week. Honestly their customer service has been second to none I really can’t fault them which is why I keep ordering

      • I used to order youfoodz near weekly and no way were these deals as frequent. They definitely have constant 'deals' on (buy x, get a bunch of protein balls or something) but the reason I stopped ordering from these guys to begin with was because I couldn't find any decent deals for awhile (decent being <$7/meal). Going back through the promo history in my emails, it's definitely the case too.

        • I stopped getting the emails for a long time and had to rely on frugal feeds etc for the codes as the emails seemed to be less frequent but obviously some were still getting them, I still don’t get the emails much now and rely on ozbargain now people are posting here. But I do agree I’d never pay over $7 a meal, which is why I rarely use my muscle chef because their promos aren’t as good (plus I find them way too reliant on sauces)

  • +3

Trying to cover their blatant racism and toxic workplace culture with a glittery curtain of deals and coupons.

You can see for yourself here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/494589

  • +1

These are tiny not even worth the price

  • +1

taste really bad. stayed in my freezer forever… dont buy!!!

    • +2

Your comment implies that you store em frozen before eating. You should store them fresh instead of freezing. Freezing them will obviously lower the quality.

If you want frozen food, maybe grab em from Coles freezer aisle instead.

      • +1

Just a snowflake that has never purchased from them.

    • +1

What meals did you buy? I'm interested in your reviews.

  • I used to find YF great especially when each meal was under $6 with discount vouchers. I even bought their products at full price few times. I did notice that their portion size and taste started to get smaller and worse. My partner and a housemate all agreed and we stopped buying from them.

  • +3

    Thanks OP!

I called youfoodz as well to confirm they’re not racist, and they said they’re not.

Not sure why everyone else is so concerned :/

  • +2

Unworthy company to support who not only holds unacceptable behaviour on personal level but also company compromising food quality, unwarranted debt and substandard quantity on their serving portions.

  • +1

poor deal, I used to like them now they food is low quality, small portions and quite expensive for $6. I mean, I get a better feed at mcdonalds

  • +2

    Racism

  • +2

    Unethical company.. No deal !

  • +1

    Just not a good deal.

  • +1

    Portion sizes are a joke.

  • +3

These posts always crack me up. The virtue signalling is off the charts. Yep, they seem racists. But do you hold companies like Nike and Apple to the same standards? Probably not.

    • +2

For the vast majority of people there is no “probably” about it.

Cherry picked SJWing at its most ridiculous.

    • +1

I wonder how many people have an iPhone and are screaming 'racist'.
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zdh7_PA8GZU

Same video; but here's the 'jump to' you'll be interested in.

      https://youtu.be/zdh7_PA8GZU?t=2500

This is one of the most fascinating documentaries I've ever watched, and while it clearly has an agenda, it's a positive one, and some facts can't be denied.

Its just a fact that the world isn't equal, we just need to try get along.

  • What are expiry dates like on these?

    • +1

Generally 1 week. It’s (at least marketed as) fresh. You can freeze them but honestly it’s a bit of a gamble if they taste good upon unfreezing.

  • +2

Wowee!! I did not know ANY of this before I decided to go and post this deal.

I mean, I still think it's somewhat a deal but I don't think I would have posted it if I knew I was gonna cop this many negs.

    • +5

Don't worry OP. For many of us <$6 for a meal is a BARGAIN. Good stuff!

Most of them are just a negative vote band wagon. I'm surprised they are not outside their local council office with pitch forks as well!

      • +3

Thanks mate! :) .. I mean, I think there's a good chunk of us who would do the same to their partners, but wouldn't do it publically and aren't actually racist.

    • +4

Keep posting. Don't worry about the snowflakes.

      • +3

        ahaha yeah cheers! :)

    • -3

Yeah it’s because this site is dominated by asians that bitch and whinge every time a youfoodz deal is posted. They can’t seem to get over it.

  • Small meals now. Not a good deal

  • +1

Though I agree the portions are small; I have been getting this every time there has been a deal on because I just supplement the meals with brown rice and it's more than enough.

  • Awesomely. Thanks

  • Aside from the racism etc. I just don't think the meals are good, tried them for a while, never really enjoyed it. If you're looking for meal prep options My Muscle Chef is fantastic, and you can get $20 off with ZTCOATV3. I think in the premade food area they are the best I've tried personally, by a long shot.

  • +1

Maybe it's just me, but I am never sated if I just eat 1 of these. I think the quality has declined slightly too.

You can get a boxed meal from colesworths for $5-7, calories usually around 400-600 and way more filling.

Also I find it hard to support a company that messes with its staff's pay.

    • Agree on quality/quantity…

Re: staff pay, you’re going to go hungry real quick. Have you seen woolies, coles, all the banks, all the petrol stations… pretty sure every company in Australia has either inadvertently or knowingly messed with some staff pay…

  • +2

    Small portions and bad food.

  • +6

I just think people eat too much… I'm 6ft, a bit chubby, and I know these are the right portions! (for me anyway, even if it leaves me a little peckish, still)

It's supposed to be weight loss / maintenance food. Not "fill me up" food…

    • +1

For a 5'4" woman, it's perfect for me! Too many meals nowadays are 1.5 or double portion, so I'm glad there are some options for me

  • When's the expiry for this code?

  • Too small. Low quality, shitty company.

  • -6

God the amount of asians whinging every time a youfoodz deal is posted is hilarious. Wah racist. Wah small sizes.

I’m 6 foot. Meals are fine. If you need to eat more than 400 calories per meal you’re a pig.

    • 400 cal per meal, then it is 1200 cal per day. To maintain your weight, you need 1600-2000 cal per day accordingly to google. I personally think there is nothing wrong if people wants to eat 400 cal or more per meal. Also, I think pigs are lovely and I am not sure why you involve pigs into this.

    • +2

So you think people calling out racism is hilarious? Glad we don't have you who decides what is racist or not.

  • Good Deal, Good Food, Winner!

  • Can’t get this to work, has it expired? Summer meal pack o lt has 6 meals and is $49? Do I add 2 more meals etc?

    • This should work again
