  • Wow is it also the one with the Aussie plug? I know these landed in Australia just last year.

Edit - nevermind, these are definitely the ones with the au plug. The aus IP website is actually run by Corelle so these are legit and the discount is instore only it seems!

may 2019 .corelle bought them ….. they had them on special in december, then put price back up …..guy in store said they were selling well enough at rrp in lead up to boxing day …..now christmas urgency is done seems they are on special again ….
the 8l is tempting but knowing they got down to $199 on amazon and free shipping always removes the buzz if you pay more , but at $215 , hey ….you need to cook, need to eat …..will get one if promo on at the weekend.

These are the best. I got a USA version years ago and it cost me way more. It's a pain too because I can only use it with the big 110V transformer I have in my kitchen for this and other 110V devices. At this price I'm tempted so I can take it on the road with me.

  • Are these that much better than just a plain standard pressure cooker?
If using as a slow cooker they must use a crap load more electricity by not having a thick ceramic pot to hold the heat.
    Explain the benefits to me.

      Explain the benefits to me.

Probably can't explain it as clearly as this link does.

    • I’m not trying to convince you to buy anything - you might want to look around rather than demand proof, traditionally people say please when they want assistance.
      however,
https://blog.constellation.com/2017/04/21/instant-pot-vs-cro… (the internal stainless steel pot sits in an insulated outer “pot”. )
An electric pressure cooker is a set, and forget, thing. You program it, it gets itself up to heat and pressure, cooks for the set time and then depressurises itself; unlike a standard pressure cooker. The instantpot also does a pretty good job at making Yogurt.

If you like “moist” cooking soups, stews, risotto, etc these are pretty good. If you prefer direct heat cooking like grilling this isn’t your bag.

  • Yes. These are the real Instant Pot products now distributed by Corelle Brands Australia and available in their Factory Stores. These products look like the DUO range which is different to the Duo Nova products sold on Amazon. They are both great products but I believe the Duo Nova product has more features and comes with an extra sealing ring etc– found the info here – hope this helps ? www.instantpot.com.au

  • picked up the 8L at moorabbin today. Only saw the 3 and 8L ones left, think they're going to be out of stock soon.

  • I enquired before, Corelle still has these on special @ DFO. Couldn't find an online link.
Do You guys reckon the Nova version is worth the extra, the extra sealing ring and quick pressure release button could be good, safety and would save letting it sit for 10 mins (but usually do with the rice cooker anyway. I noticed Amazon AU had the Nova version cheaper in the past could be worth waiting.
    Cheers

I didn't realise they were different. I don't know why they would have one on the Amazon website and have a different one in the stores. Personally I think the extra ring and quick release are worth getting the Nova version. The thing to watch is the quick release will send steam, everywhere, and if you have something like soup etc this will come out as well. However, for things like Corned Beef, where you want to make the vegetables using the same pot, it is worth steam releasing and then making the vegetables whilst the meat "rests". The sealing rings do get a bit "smelly", even if you do clean them, so having one for savoury and one for sweet/yoghurt is probably worth it.

      • They are just different models but tend to agree, it's probably worth the extra. In addition could release the pressure and stir etc.
I suppose you could put something over to catch any splatter like a perforated microwave lid/tea towel perhaps, but would need to look into it.
        Cheers,

        • They recommend you don't use a teatowel to do get the splatter as you risk blocking up the release valve but a structured thing, like a mesh food cover with the teatowel on it would probably work. What I do know is it scares the bejesus out of the cats when I activate it.

  • Also duo Nova on sale bought 5.7l for 215$

Just give a local DFO a call about stock
