Mercane Wide Wheel 2019 Dual Motor 1000w Electric Scooter $1095 @ Scooter Hut

110

2019 Mercane scooter sellout at scooter hut. Decent price went for a test ride but I think I prefer electric skateboards but someone else might be interested. They had 7 in Brisbane last I checked in the weekend.

  • Love to have one for getting around the gold coast but wary of the attention from the cops

  • Shipping $10 Australia wide.
I can't comment on this scooter but I did buy a Ninebot Max from Scooter Hut eBay store about a month ago.
Scooter arrived quickly, I had a few after sales questions and spoke to a staff member at the Malvern/Melbourne store. (I think his name was Josh).
Anyhow he was really helpful and more importantly knowledgeable. I would have seriously considered buying this scooter if it was $1,095 a month ago.
The newer 2020 model has recently arrived in Australia and now the 2019 models are going on sale. This Mercane scooter has solid tyres so no punctures, but the wheels are only 8 inch diameter.
I watched a few Youtube reviews on this model and was generally quite positive, though the 40km max range was quite optimistic.

    • Are these legal to ride in Victoria ?

      • +1

Victorian law stipulates that a motorised scooter cannot travel faster than 10km/h. Additionally, a motorised scooter must have a maximum power output of 200 watts or less. Electric scooters that do not meet these stipulations can be used on private property, but not in public.

10kmh is very slow, Qld got lucky with no power limit but only a speed limit. Good if theirs a hill and your not a small person (40-50kg)

    • Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Could you say what’s new in the 2020 model over the 2019 one?

  • 8" wheels makes it pretty dangerous. I'd go for nothing less than 10"

    • 10" is def better.
but for portability, speed and build, this is probably one of the better 8"

    • For reference what size wheels do the Lime scooter have? They seemed ok to me when I was on hols in Brisbane, but I'll admit I was keeping an eye out for any lips and offsets in the footpath.

      • +1

        There's a couple versions now I think.
        I think they're mostly 8"

        • Cheers for that.

I work 5ks from home, wife works 5ks from home the other direction. We are both waiting for the law to change. Big savings in car maintenance and 2 less cars on the road. And before you say walk. We are very time poor so walking, as much as i would love to, is not an option.

That is definitely cycling distance, and a very easy electric bike distance.
As always feasibility depends on traffic conditions/bike storage etc.

      • +3

I do ride during school holidays, as I have more time to shower etc, wife would not ride for a million dollars :-). have no room to store the electric bikes either. The thought of electric bikes has been on my mind for a while, just not feasible atm.

If you can borrow or rent one for a bit I would highly recommend it. I clocked in over 2000km's on mine and it has been a game changer.

Folding electric bike is easy to store, and will save big $ on dental and hospital bills compared to a 1000W scooter.

  • I have an ES4, good mate has the Mercane dual motor. All I can say is it's an absolute beast and has only dropped in price due to a new 2020 model coming out. This model is only $200 more regular price at iScoot which are based in Fortitude Valley as a good price reference.

  • Lol. Just watched the delimiting video.. I think this thing will be insanely and dangerously fast without that limiter..

  • 5km doesn't even need an ebike unless there are some nasty hills or the OP has a disabilty/aged etc.

  • Can the batteries be taken out of these to charge elsewhere (upstairs in my case) ? I have an underground car park , no power in my carpark, so I'd need to charge it upstairs in my apartment.

Got one last year in Nov when it was $1299, so this is a pretty good deal.

    2020 version has:
    - Dual disk braking
    - Speedometer and battery display
    - Larger battery capacity, more range
    - Better frame

    Personally, I'd get the 2020 over 2019.
