    K. Doesn't really help other people much if it's not an advertised deal or at least a receipt/proof that everyone can get it.

  • better put this in forum I suppose… not really a deal by itself

    • +1 unless somebody else can get the same deal.

  • Please tell us the details how do you get it? More info is needed!

  • +5

Does such a good price balance out the fact that you're stuck with Vodafail for two years?

    • +3

That's what I thought too. I have a friend who signed this phone with Vodafail for another two years because she can get the deal as OP mentioned. But she can not use the mobile network, and sometime call drops. Even if did not drop, the call quality is always bad.

    • -1

If it helps, you can complain to them and get a month free. I've done it 3 times over the course of 14 months on my 24mnth plan.

So maybe with enough complaints, they'll waiver the exiting fee and only have to pay for the remainder of the phone?

      • +6

The only thing worse than getting a month free on Vodafone is getting three months free on Vodafone

  • +2

Not worth being on the Vodafone network for 2 years.

    • -1

Not a decent reason for the neg.
And also the S2 is a 850/900/2100 phone - so can use all of voda's networks.

      • +3

Everyone I know who signed up to Vodafone wishes they hadn't with bad reception and missing texts. I don't class that as a deal, but that's just my opinion.

        • I am using just prepaid which is voda and so far so good receiving calls not data.

Just wondering when people said that which state and area they are in?

          I am in Sydney.

        • Does anyone you know uses 850 band? Reception is not the best but nothing to neg about either.

        • +2

Screw the texts. The Galaxy SII is a powerhouse. You'll want to use it for data. The Vodafone network is so bad in Melbourne, it's appalling. My friend got the SII from Vodafone on a 24 month contract. I am on Telstra no contract, bought the phone myself. Just the page loads and apps that use Internet work so much faster on NextG. On Vodafone, most of the time, the loading times out.

It's a horrible network. Your mileage may vary but I've got 4 colleagues and a friend using SII on Vodafone (all went with Vodafone because it was cheapest) and now they regret it. Not reason enough to neg the deal but 24 months on Vodafone will be a pain.

        • +2

Yeah data on Vodafail is a coin toss between it not working or it working so slow it almost doesn't matter, no matter where you are. I have about 1-2 months left on my contract then I'm heading to Tel$tra or Optus.

        • im on voda 850mhz. And i can get good speeds at home and at work (i live in melbourne). I consistently get 200-300kb/s when downloading files. And i find the connections speeds to be instant (browsing internet on laptop while wifi hotspotting is as quick as wifi internet on telstra cable at home)

        • Either your statement is BS or Telstra Cable must really suck. I'm on NextG and WiFi Hotspot is still MUCH slower than my ADSL from TPG.

        • lol. Ive run tests. On my vodafone hotspot I get around 250KB/s and on home cable i get around 2.5MB/s with ethernet cable (and 1.2MB/s with wireless g). Latency for both is really good. Yes there is a speed difference, but for browsing I can barely tell.

I know ive forgotten to switch to my wireless telstra connection at home and instead continued to use the phone's wifi hotspotting for an hour or two when browsing (even youtube in SD). I only realise when i start downloading a file or watch youtube in high definition.

Dont know why your connection is slow… maybe where you live. As you said, mileage may vary.

Horrible reason to neg….with that logic then every good valued Voda plan that comes up gets the neg. Sorry..but if I choose to be with Voda.. that's my choice.. please vote based on value of the deal..not because of your own personal opinion of the network.

There is a reason some of us are with Voda.. they just cost less/most of your friends are with Voda now for various reasons.

At least neg because you know that the value is also available at other networks hence nothing special..or you can find something cheaper elsewhere.

In saying that..there really needs to be more details/proof of this 'Deal'…can't even tell if its legit.

  • I got it on $58/mth for 12 months

  • +3

good deal but I'll stay away from VF network, still have 4 more months to finish the current contract.

  • -8

Lol.. Thats only to existing customers of three or vodafone for upgrade.
3 days ago my friend got an iPhone 4 on $59 cap plan for $10 monthly instalment - and the contract was only 12 months - would you believe that.

So which one is better the galaxy (over 24mnths) or an iphone (over 12 months)

    • Get the iPhone 4 for 12 months. Sell it as soon as you get it on eBay. Buy the Galaxy SII. Win win. You won't be stuck on a shitty network for 24 months and you get to use a newer generation phone. OS is personal preference (neither is better; just one is better for you) but the hardware is indisputably better on the SII.

      • -4

Also he was given an option to go for Samsung Galaxy S2 for $5 monthly installment.

And on both the plans - the current and next months Monthly cap and phone inst waived off.

        • +1

Do i care if u neg me. Go ahead - This deal is not a bargain for a general public - and am just giving my opinion…::::: droolll

      • The problem for some people is that hardware specs for every manufacturer changes with time, its also the interface you get used to or the software you have invested in. Simply using hardware specs only is a geek thing….

        • -1

Neg voted you by mistake. Anyway, I already mentioned that the OS is a personal preference. Neither is better. I got Android because I was heavily invested in Google services. It made more sense to me. But creeps_bay was comparing a year old phone with a current gen one. So, from a hardware standpoint, the SII is superior. Which is what I was pointing out.

          It's like me saying:
Lol. 3 days ago my friend got a Nokia E72 for 200 bucks and signed no contract. He's paying $14.99/mth with TPG. Would you believe that? So which one is better? iPhone 4 over 12 months? Or Nokia E72 and no contract?

He's comparing a year old phone to brand new tech. OS is debatable (personal preference) but SII is superior in every other aspect. His statement was just fundamentally wrong. It's no different than saying, HMMM should I get a PS3 or a PS2 that's much cheaper!

  • +2

200MB/month data on Voda network for 2 years for SGS II and paying $39/month? Are you serious? Are you going to use your Android for games only?

    • +3

On the bright side the network might be so bad for you that you won't even reach 200MB/month.

      • +1

May be not, they may still count usage when the phone try and try to load the page :p

  • It is still showing $20 on cap 29 on the website, OP needs to clarify on how he got this deal.

    • I think voda called him.

    • I called three…then the customer service told me, go with vodafone then got me this deal…two of my fds also got this today…

  • i terminated my nexus s contract after 3 months.

now im waiting for my s2
    49cap + $5.. but i get 3 months off.

29cap is not enough.. $180 of calls. pffff it bloody includes GST
you'll b paying more than $1/min if you're calling some1 on another network.
rates on the cap is ridiculous! its worse than the prepaid back in 2000!!

also.. im only seeing $20 on 29cap.

    • That's on a 24 month contract right?

      • yep

  • Decidedly if you are an old customer you can negotiate with them. Deals on the site are just for prospective clients.
