    • What really?

    • Are you sure about it? Is the price without a plan?

  • Can anyone confirm if Vodafone phones are or are not locked?

Thanks OP got a Google Pixel 4 XL 128 :)

    • Unlocked

    • +1

unlocked confirmed and no in built logo bs in the phones like they use o

  • No fingerprint sensor is a deal breaker from me. Don’t want to login with PIN into every second app… most app developers haven’t supported Pixels facial recognition.

    • +4

I was sure you were incorrect about the pixel 4 having no fingerprint reader… Wtf were they thinking leaving it out?!!!

      • +1

Yep..! No idea. It’s a no from me.

  • OW Price match possible

    • is that a confirmation or a question?

      • +17

        That's correct

        • in store?

          • @Lionking48: So should we call office works hq and tell em to beat it over the phone? (The deal)?

        • +1

How is that possible when it requires a Month to month plan? Have you purchased with price match at office works? Receipt ?

      • Like with Oppo Reno Z from Optus, some OZB's managed to priced match it with Officeworks. Sorry forgot to put question mark.

      • I can confirm that I'm waiting for a confirmation as well.

    • +1

I called to Office Works and they don't price match from Vodafone

    • How?

  • Thanks OP, great deal. Will cancel after a month.

  • I did check with Vodafone regarding cancellation of Sim within 30days. They mentioned there won't be any cost if you do so. All you need to pay is pending Pixel phone cost and no exit fee.

This seems to be a very good deal. However, Pixel 5XL or 4A will be out soon 😭

    • They do not pro rata so you would pay out the one month of the sim plan also.

The new pixel is coming yes which is why the RRP on this device has dropped.

  • +1

RRP has been changed by google apparently.
    (Call centre)
Expect other retailers to drop pricing soon

    • +2

May be others will drop the price but won't be cheaper than Vodafone price. In that case why should wait for others to drop when you can get it now?

Just me trying to convince not to buy it🤣.

Plus you get $20 off from this purchase with a code and you can cancel within 30days and they will refund the plan cost without charging any exit fee.

  • Can you cancel immediately and pay it out?

  • Ahhhh

Buy and flip for maybe a 100 bucks more…. Man

    • +5

If you are buying this to flip, don't expect many bites.
This was such a flop noone really wants it.

  • Confirming the price of Pixel 4XL 64gb through the chat:

"Absoutely, if you want you can purchase phone with outright cost at nearest store
    It's cost is $639
The outright purchase option is at store only
and be rest assured, you will get the phone on same cost tomorrow as well
    The price will not change"

    • How are you communicating them via Chat? They are closed right now. I want to cancel my order and save the hassle purchasing it outright now lol.

      • +1

I was in the website and show me to enter in a chat if I had any doubt, I entered in a chat, I just put any name, number and pin, after that I waited some time and I spoke with the attendant, it happened 20min ago, but at the moment all stores are closed, so I cannot confirm direct in a Vodafone store

      • +1

I tried to cancel no luck. It's a commitment now
        Oh well only $20 more

        • +1

Just on this. I was able to cancel eventually as it was still in the credit check process.online chat confirmed I can just buy it outright at Voda store tomorrow without the month to month plan

  • Good timing. Can sign up for this and get off Telstra with a couple of weeks left on contract. Wait a couple of months for a nice JB gift card deal to flip right on back.

  • What the…

Thanks OP - grabbed the XL 128GB. Perfect timing with my Telstra contract expiring as well so needed someone to jump ship to temporarily.

Regarding code above, didn't work for me but I kept playing around with the promo code box and eventually the pop up showed up for me with a different code. Not the most sound logic but it worked!

    Cheers all.

To all the people commenting negatively about this phone.. its HALF price!!! and has below:

    • IP68 Rating
    • Snapdragon 855
    • Decent build quality
    • One of the best cameras
    • 90hz
    • Stock Android device and always first to receive updates

Its a nice phone for that price that would last a couple of years.

    • True but this vs the new Mi 10 pro beast right around the corner?… It's getting so hard to choose

      • +1

Mi 10 is a good phone, but pricing is uncertain no doubt it will be rigged along with most imports and weak AUD atm. Also It doesn’t have IP68 rating. I do go beach and swimming pool so it’s quite important for me.

        • No s20 then? If U have access to educational portal it's around 1024

But I'm figuring out what the best way to get this. 128gb white xl is the way to go with the $20 off code and cashback for first month

          • +1

@agalea101: Your not comparing Apples with Apples if you are wanting an s20. Even at 1024 that's 300+ more. But yes if you have the $$ then go for it.

            • @cent88: Hey all good my friend I like the pixel . I just got one now to have a muck around with and prob sell it later when s20 goes down in may or so

              • @agalea101: For camera quality can i trust this?

                https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https:/…

It says 4 XL camera trumps S20.

                • +1

@Bargain-er: The S20 has one thing everyone forgets to mention, OneUI 2.0. For one, i much prefer the plain android experience and find functions like the squeeze to google assistant as invaluable.

This is a decent deal especially for someone looking to offset their tax (can't do that with an import)

Mi 10 Pro is a better choice, but will be $1,000 grey import (if not more) and cant produce a GST receipt for tax offsetting either unless you buy direct from Mi, at a higher inflated price.

                  • +1

@Susp3cs: Yeah, i prefer android vanilla experience as well. That's why i'm using moto X4 atm but i'm lusting a phone with nice camera. :)

        • +2

Technically nobody warranty water damage even if their phones are IP67/68, not even Google. My Pixel 2 has IP67 and I had an episode with the water, so I wouldn't be so sure about going swimming with phone in my pocket. More often than not, IP rating is just for "Oh shit" moment rather than taking photo underwater.

That said, there's no way Mi 10 will be $700-$800. They starts at $600 US? I think.

    • +1

Great phone for the price, but too bad about the poor battery life (GSM Arena shows its endurance rating is 73hrs, and the Nexus 6P has an endurance rating of 74 hrs) and no fingerprint reader (not a fan of face unlock).

Also not sure why they didn't opt for the SD855+ or UFS 3.0 storage when other phones that released just before it or around the same time had these. Plus their motion sense feature was a big fail. Only worked half the time, and really the use case for it to exist in the first place wasn't a really great selling point.

And I really wish they didnt take away unlimited Google Photos and also had larger storage options (at least 256GB). This phone is just a perfect example of either Google being really lazy and not caring, or Google getting greedy.

  • -1

I just bought a pixel 3a for $497 from OW using pricebeat (Tecobuy $524). Haven't picked it up yet, should I cancel/ return and get this or nah?

  • Is this a single sim or dual sim model?

    • -3

Single. Dual only for the international model

      • +1

Wrong. You can have an eSIM and a physical SIM in it, so it’s dual SIM.

Source: own a Pixel 4 with an empty SIM card slot and an eSIM from Telstra

        • oh that's good to no. my bad

    • Blurb specs say dual…

      Dual SIM (Nano + eSIM)

  • +3

Cannot buy the Pixel 4 with a 2800 mah battery that is just crazy.

That leaves the 4 XL but with no expansion slot 64 is not enough, leaving the 128gb as the most viable @ $720

  • Application is underway.

  • +3

Just buy it outright from a Vodafone store tomorrow, save the hassle of a credit check application and then having to cancel the plan.

  • OP - How'd you get $599 for the XL?

    64GB is $639 and 128GB is $714.

Shopback or CR? Their T&C shows you need to stay connected for 90 days. IMO outright is the way to go.

    • +1

He didn't, his title says $599 for the 4 128gb not the 4XL

  • Couldn’t find anywhere to add esim for Apple Watch??

  • -1

Does that mean Upcoming Pixel 5 (Half Price) 18/02/2021?

  • Just to confirm the outright prices for the XL

Yes, this device is in stocks at all nearest Vodafone store

    • If can purchased outright, should be able to do ow price beat? Kinda hard without the outright proof in website tho.

    • Tried some stores they refuse to sell outright

      • Yeah they refused to sell outright , I just got a month on month plan added to the phone and collect the phone on Friday ( instead of waiting for 2 weeks )

  • If your gna spend 715 on a phone why not buy the rog phone 2?
I saw it here for 680 and it's twice the phone of the pixel 4
Only the camera is better on the pixel and you can download the gcam app.

    • +1

The rog phone 2 is grey imported, may not have a warranty. Why not pre-order a s20 from samsung epp store? $1029 with a free wireless power pack.

  • Over chat / phone they offer one month free..

    • Jus ask for one month free straight up?

    • They are not offering anything free on this promotional offer

  • Doesn't work in the store, their POS did not update the outright price.Sad.

If you read through this comment, VF are saying it will be available in store for this price tomorrow.

      • +3

that comment is from yesterday! lol

  • Not working in store for me either. Has anyone had success buying outright from a store?

    • -3

If you read through this comment, VF are saying it will be available in store for this price tomorrow.

      • +4

That comment was posted yesterday. Today is tomorrow.

    • I just bought it but with a plan. Read my comment below.

  • +1

At Vodafone Murray St Perth Store right now, they aren't able to sell it outright at this price so I ended up signing up for a plan.

EDIT: Just walked out of the store with the phone. It was the last stock for Pixel 4 XL 64GB (Just Black) in this store.

The rep said I should probably call up and cancel it on the 10th March to be safe.

    • What was the plan you signed up on?

      Are there any cheap plans?

      • The normal $40 Red plan (Month to month). That's the cheapest one. The rep at the store said she will apply the $20 coupon (as mentioned in the OP) on my account which would reflect in a couple of days.

        • when I applied the $20 discount on the online order, it will be shown on the first month bill.

  • Does anyone have a recommendation on where to nab one of these cases cheaper and recommend a reasonable price screen protector?

  • So interesting update..

A Vodafone representative called me about my order and told me that I wasn't eligible for the phone at the moment and could only proceed with a sim only plan and to try again in 90 days for the phone. I asked if I failed the credit check and they said "no, you just are not eligible for the phone".

Sounds a bit fishy to me. I obviously then cancelled the entire order. Might try some stores to purchase the phone outright but doesn't sound like people are having much luck.

    Anyone have a similar experience?

    • Did you tell them you intended to cancel the plan and keep the phone?

      • That would be an odd thing for me to tell them - I did not.

        • have you bought and cancelled with them before? blacklisted? lol

          • -1

@Poor Ass: Never dealt with Vodafone before.. I've been warned to stay away! :)

    • Just try another store. Also just tell the upfront that you're only interested in the phone outright for $639. Read my comment above.

    • Yeah same here. They couldn't process my application. I think its because there CC team is sitting in India and has been given tight instructions to reject all apps if the credit score is below "excellent". Maybe in the past, the have done something stupid to report high sales figure or something.

      • Same thing happened to me
        What phone did you choose?

    • Was your order at the "Order received, Ready to go, Your order is being prepared for delivery." stage before they called?

      • +1

I'm not sure of the stage to be honest. I did the digital verification this morning and then received the phone call at lunch.

        • +1

          ok, thanks for the resposne.

    • Yeah just had the same thing, they advised I passed the credit check for the plan only not the handset. Not sure why, maybe because I just refinanced my mortgage. I said I can pay for the phone upfront as part of the plan, he tried to add the phone and charge me upfront but it wouldn't let him. He said I couldn't purchase the phone because I hadn't passed the credit check so he couldn't add a phone to my account as part of the set up….
So basically they can't sell me the phone because I didn't pass a the credit check of which I'm not applying for any credit….
My local store doesn't have any in stock so might have to go in somewhere else during the week and see what's there.

  • Guys what would be the protocol in the case where one is int he middle of a Boost 1 year prepaid plan?

Sign up to this Vodaphone plan for 1 month with a new sim, and then cancel the plan after 1 month and discard that sim, all the while using your current sim?

    • Yeah that's what I would do.

  • Apparently my order has shipped, I was expecting this to turn into some sort of debacle with lots of cancelled orders. Thanks, OP!

    • Not sure why your comment got negged. Fixed.

  • I got partially approved and had to give them a call.
During the call i was told i can get a sim-only plan (which means NO PHONE, just the sim).
    WTF?
