    Good price.

How does this lens perform? With me replacing my EF 1.4 50mm with this on an RP?

    • +2

RF 35mm works well for me, also has 1:2 macro. I did have the EF 1.4 50mm but replaced that with a Carl Zeiss 50mm. Review for 35mm here https://m.dpreview.com/reviews/canon-rf-35mm-f1-8-is-stm-mac…

Putting the diff in focal distance aside, the RF has 5-axis IS and the EF has none, so that's ~3 stops benefit. Considering the RP body has no IS, getting a lens with IS is strongly recommended unless your shooting is primarily on tripods.

    • I have the RF 35mm Macro and the Ef 50 1.4. I find the RF 35mm super sharp compared to the 50 1.4. I do find the 35mm sharper than some of my EF L series glass. One thing to note is you can get some darker shadows on the edges of the frame which are easily fixed with a lens profile correction in Lightroom.

have they got the lens profile correction for Lightroom? i was looking around in some reviews about this lens and noticed that they don't have it yet…

  • Loving this lens. Currently running around Vietnam and it’s a cracker!
For that price, 100% worth it!

35mm is a weird focal length on crop sensors, most shots are 18mm, 24mm or 50mm

    • +6

There are no crop sensor cameras that use the RF mount though.

      • Ok, I stand corrected

  • What is RF mount? I only know about EF, is this compatible with old EF mount cameras?

    • Seems it is not compatible with EF cameras

    • RF is the new mount for Canon's mirrorless cameras. It is not compatible with EF bodies, although you can get an adapter to use EF glass on bodies that have the RF mount.

  • $407 at georges of that suits people looking for it.

+9.95 postage, which works out identical to Amazon (unless you can pick up from the store), go figure :-)

      • good find, the Sydney buyers will save some more money with this deal!

$399 at DigiDirect + $9.90 shipping or free click and collect.

    • I could swear that Amazon is reading this forum. They have also dropped their price to $399 free Prime shipping, with the caveat "Usually dispatched within 1 to 2 months."

      • Nah - hey just monitor heaps of competitor prices and match the cheapest one they can find (even eBay promo code offer prices)

Just fyi, if any of you purchased from Amazon for $416.95, they are able to credit back the difference.

I just did that on mine.

          • @meong: Can you explain how you do this as I paid the higher price on Tuesday night

            • @ireciel: oh, what I did was just simply chatting to them via the Help section.

I told them that the price just changed last night and straight away asked them to refund the difference.

They took a minute just to confirm everything and without further ado agreed to refund the difference.

They are usually happy to entertain such request cause they do understand that if they don't do that, there are chances that I may just return the item and buy it again (typical Ozbargain style haha).

In addition to that, I can just simply buy from Digidirect which is available for me in Melboune anyway.

              • @meong: Didn't work for me. They just quoted their policy, which is to actually cancel/return and reorder haha. Guess it depends on the chat person you get. Just found a cheaper price at CameraPro deal, so cancelled my Amazon order anyway.

                • @unknown: thats weird… they should have known that they are losing business to you…

are you a Prime member btw?

                  • @meong: Yep, have been since they launched here. I usually find their chat support pretty good with these kinds of things, not this time it seems. Oh well, their loss.
