Do a Google search "Yamaha Tyros 4" and you'll find plenty cheap options.

I don't know if those are legit but I saw prices starting from USD $1300, I can think of two options: or they're stolen or Yamaha has only recently dropped this keyboard model so shops like BHphotovideo cannot match the price because they already had it in stock.

Nevertheless, it seems unusual to me that a local store can beat US based stores.

Here is just one link: http://www.cmather.com/classified/16/posts/9-For-Sale/34-Mus…

    I guess they're gray imports?

    • It's the same ad as I posted above, just on a different classified site. It's likely a scam, as is common on free classifieds sites.

Would you honestly be willing to send that amount of money to a stranger through a bank transfer/Western Union/PayPal without being able to see and pick up the goods in person yourself?

      • Well I don't need to buy this item but if I needed it, I would investigate more.
They also accept Pay Pal same as Ebay and almost all China and HK shops around.

        • I would investigate more.

I have investigated more. It's likely a scam.

Same "Roy Matheus" as in the ad you posted.

They also accept Pay Pal same as Ebay

The other ad I posted by "Roy Matheus" says they only accept PayPal for "large orders". In any case, PayPal buyer protections aren't particularly strong for off-eBay transactions, and at the very least you should pay by credit card with PayPal to give you the option of a chargeback.

Seller only has to provide a tracking number to PayPal, and you may have a hard time claiming (https://cms.paypal.com/au/cgi-bin/?&cmd=_render-content&cont…):

"If the seller presents evidence for an Item Not Received claim that they shipped the goods to your address, we may find in favour of the seller even if you did not receive the goods."

          See also:

"Where we are unable to recover the whole or any part of your payment from the seller we may in our absolute and sole discretion, decide to make an ex gratia payment. Please note payment by us under the PayPal Buyer Protection Policy is at our absolute and sole discretion. You have no automatic entitlement to receive any payments. The PayPal Buyer Protection Policy does not indemnify you for loss which may incur and it is not a contract of insurance."

        • Using paypal forfeits all credit card protection schemes.

Paypal specifically excludes your bank from doing anything. The only people that can do anything are paypal. And they are a PITA.

        • "Using paypal forfeits all credit card protection schemes."

really? never knew that, damn it!!! thats pretty dodgy!
          got a link?

Really? Would appreciate a link as well. :)

I had no issues getting a refund through a credit card chargeback (Citibank Visa Platinum) about 3 months ago. This was after PayPal rejected my PayPal dispute after the eBay seller provided them with a tracking number — the tracking number didn't indicate the item had been delivered, and I never received the item, but nevertheless PayPal sided with the seller.

        • yeah ive also seen some pretty dodgy paypal activity… maybe its just something paypal tell you so you dont try… also thats how most credit card/paypal scams are run… change back on credit cards.

I have bought from Davis Wheeler before! (not keyboard though) Ivan does great guitar setups and the shop is always really tidy and well laid out. they have a pretty good soundproof room for jamming amps loudly too.

    @jump22 I think you're right, it's so suspicious.
I previously found many more links on Google but then those links just disappeared.

But again, it seems unusual to me that a local shop can beat a US based megastore!

  • I remember these things, back in the day before soft synths and logic audio.
