I just left them after 3 months. Unless you need the 100GB, i've go elsewhere.

    • Where did you go?

Boost 12 mth/240gb for $240 deal. Thought i would circles to watch more on phone but never happened and reception made it harder to do that anyway. Even loading instagram stories had delays when i never had that issue with Telstra before that.

Same thing with me, thought I would use more with 100GB. Gonna move to Boost! Maybe the 40GB+80GB @ $150. Cheers.

    • +2

Wow I did the same… realised 100GB is too much and also the speeds were actually bad compared to boost.

  • What network are they? And is it 4G?

    • Optus 4G but it seems slower and more dropouts when i did a comparison with an actual Optus sim.

    • Optus 4G

Logically it should be Optus if offer is to port from Vodafone or Telstra :-)

Don't they charge per MB, instead of KB? I remember someone mentioned this, hence why they used up data quickly.

    • I probably would not have signed up had this been the case, hmm. I tried to confirm with their chat if that is the case for these current plans. I do see in the T&Cs that excess data is billed per MB.

For whatever it's worth this is an extract from the chat; I am getting the impression from their wording that usage is measured per KB … Time will tell.

CL: to answer your 1st, question we calculate per mb
ME: Ok thanks CL. so if I used 10kb, i will be billed 1MB of data from the 40gb allotment ..
CL: the mb is for how we charge you
CL: if you used 10kb only this is prorated charge
CL: you'll pay the exact kb you'll use
ME: Okay, I think I understand. Can I give one more example?
ME: So, from the 40gb allowance, if I use 10kb then that is all that is deducted, for example
      CL: yes that is correct

Note: I asked about the 40GB plan that WoodYouLikeSomeCash posted as I wasn't eligible for this 100GB plan; but the detail should be similar as the wording in T&Cs is the same.

I did try to find out a few months agoz
        , but they're very unclear.

From my experience with chats, the chat person may not be completely knowledgeable. But save this conversation, and you can use as evidence if data is billed per MB.

As an example, i asked dodo if they allow call diversion (as in, not being charged). They said no it won't. So I was about to port, when a little voice in my head said no, just browse and take a closer look. Luckily I did, but the information was not in their CIS; it was in a separate document. And i found out, yeah you had to pay extra for call diversion.

I'm only speaking from what I have heard. The fact they bill per MB is just too suss for me to join.

Yes, data gets consumed at double the rate of others. I also had lots of delayed SMS and MMS issues. Ported out to Boost, problems solved.

    • Was the port out process easy? Did you have to contact Circles Life by phone or chat? Cheers.

      • +1

To port out to Boost, you simply activate the Boost SIM card and follow the instructions.
Boost will automatically deactivate your old Circles Life and bring your number to Boost.
Once your Boost is activated with your number, simply make sure you're not charged by Circles Life the following month (only dodgy telco would do this, I'm about to find out soon)

It took 5 days, Because Circles use Alpha-Numeric customer numbers (which no other Telco uses) I had to online chat with both companies at the same time as each one was blaming the other for the porting delay as the Boost sign up process didn't allow alphas in their webpage so manual intervention was required. My port out also happened on the 31st of the month, so of course Circles tried billing me for an extra month as well which I refused to pay.

        • Thanks. Called up boost and they processed it manually as they cancelled the activation due to the details not matching in their system.

It is due to the alpha numeric account number and/or date of birth.

It ported over about 7 hours later

    • How long did it take to port out to boost after you activated the boost sim? Did you have to contact Circles with a termination request as well? I activated my boost sim this morning about 10am and it still hasnt ported over. Porting to Circles took about 1 hour. Dont want it to go into next month as Circles dont give refunds and will charge a whole month if it gets ported on 1st March.

      • +1

        Should be within 4 to 24 hours, don't worry~
NEVER contact old provider with the termination request, you will lose your number.

        • Yup, I've ported a few times before and it has always taken less than 4 hours. As long as it doesnt go into March, I'll be happy.

I meant contacting circles after my number has been ported to confirm cancellation. Seems like 0jay is still getting billed despite porting out

        • +1

You need to contact boost to process it manually as they cancel the activation. Probably only applicable when porting from circles.

          • @8azinga: I thought this was the case, my friend (Voda) and I ported our number across 7 hours ago. His went through in 45 mins, mine's still Circles.Life!
Thanks for the heads up! I just did the activation again with the Live Chat! Hopefully it's ported by 12pm tomorrow otherwise I'll be charged for March T_T

    Great Job OP :)

These guys never got back to me after notifying them of network issues (I'd get constant disconnects regardless of location). I contacted them twice in an attempt to find a resolution, never heard back though they assured me they would follow up.

After giving up and porting out they continue to bill me in spite of several chats on the issue with reassurances the problem was resolved. These guys are incompetent at best.

Go with Amaysim for 2 bucks more, much more reliable, and when you go to leave, they won't drag their feet for ages until you finally snap and threaten ACCC'ing them.

Service dropped a tonne on the 4 month free deal for me and I'm in the inner suburbs of Melbourne.
Their customer service was barely existent, and shit at that.
Call quality was terrible, I couldn't have a call for more than 4 or 5 minutes without regular drop outs.
Tried TWICE to send me a bill when I was on the free deal, and the second time was after I complained about the first one.

    Trash.

    I signed up to Circle's on a 100GB for 6 month deal.

Had no issues, speeds were fine/as per usual optus. Data was counted as per my phone's usage meter. I have decided to move to amaysim via Telstra for a month simply due to only 3 months remaining on my 6 months on signup. Porting to Telstra happend almost instantly this morning.

Been with circles for a few months now. Never had an issue… Get 50mps - 100mps no matter where I've been in Brisbane

    Maybe I'm just lucky

    • Yep, same. In Brisbane and haven't had any issues. Although I do suspect that the way they count the days is a lot different than other telcos. I seem to consume it a lot faster. Maybe, thats just my partner smashing her Spanish Telenovelas on Netflix though.

  • Circles has no VoLTE or SMS/MMS delivery receipts either (for Android) due to the Optus network.

  • Using a similar package from last deal from November as home internet on my router, no issues yet and happy with the service

  • optusfail is a thing.
