Gold Coast to Bangkok, Thailand from $290.48 Return (Apr-May) @ FlightNetwork

160

Weird fare to come up, not sure how long it'll last, but hey! Cheapest return I can find anywhere else for these days is $420ish return (Scoot both ways)

But Flightnetwork has this hack fare where you can fly there on Scoot, and back on Air Asia, for $290.48 RETURN!

Both are low cost carriers, and there are stopovers, but if you're a cheap flight hunter and don't mind stopovers (Hello, backpackers), this is a great price to get to Thailand.

There is also a fare for $317, if the $290 goes.

  • How is this a 'hack fare'?
    It's two single leg tickets.

It's a term I got from kayak - normally people search return, but kayak does a multiple one way search, and if it finds it less than a return, it promotes it as a 'hacker' fare.

Not my term, but if you don't like it, I apologise :/

      • I can see the logic behind that.

      • from your username, are you a rep from beatthatflight
        out of curiosity

        • correct. Link in my profile :)

          Just like finding the deals!

      • Well sir… Changed to remove the sales hype.

      • @beatthatflight Since you use Kayak, do you only use the Aussie site, or use multiple nationality sites (linked back to Aud)?

  • did you book your return flight as a one way ticket?
or 2 or 3 separate legs, because I notice that you have a 1.5hr stopover in malaysia,
they are both air asia but if they are separate bookings, and your first flight is delayed , and you miss the connection, you are boned???

    • I didn't book it, just found it, but if they're on the same booking, you'd be ok. And usually if it's the same airline they'll try and help you out.

Saying that, Air Asia is my favourite LCC, and are usually on time, but that's the downside of cheap flights sometimes, they come with risk.

    • This is why it is called a hacker fare. Normally multiple single legs that line up (time wise) between one or more different carriers. It don't allow for time to clear customs etc, and travel insurance may not cover it (this one they might if it's the same airline / same booking). You need to be smart with these type fares. I took one to NZ with Qantas, Emirates, AirNz, but it had 6hrs between flights in Syd… I had a nice time in the Amex lounge.
