  • I can’t understand how two people get to walk out with their xs phones and i also went through the same manual process less than 45 minutes and i have to wait until Wednesday or a later date smh.

It’s called life, you may miss Corona virus - they may get it.

  • Anyone know of a store with stock in Vic?
Called around a few and they are all out :(

    • Still can sign up and collect the phone once back in stock?

  • Maybe a silly question but….
I'm currently with Kogan - do I need to port to Telstra for this deal or do they arrange the port when I sign up at TGG?

    • Port in In-Store, The Good Guys manage the application for Port In, then Telstra actions the Port In.

  • +1

Thanks OP! Got the last XS 64G from TGG Chadstone. The manager was also nice to bump down the price slightly after asking. All in all $167+390=$557. If I'm allowed to travel in the next 2 months it'll be additional $140 off.

    • Well done!

    • Have you already cancelled the plan? If so, can you explain it to me, I’m just not sure how it works. Cheers.

      • +2

When you sign up you install Telstra app (or can log in through Telstra.com). You will set up your account. Once done you can cancel online. Takes around ten minutes. The longer you leave it the more you have to pay of first months pro rata bill ($65/no of days).

        • Thanks for the info Fancydancer.

  • So it turns out if you need to use a plan for 24 months and don’t mind paying $65 for 80GB from Telstra the next best deal after the $199 IPhone XS is actually going for the IPhone 11 64GB at $499. With TGG 700off deal ending 22nd of March. Just confirmed the deal in TGG Maribyrnong .

      it's different promo

Newbie question - how do you cancel the plan straight after signing up? Do you just port over to say Kogan pre paid and Telstra will issue the ETC of $390?

  • These comments confuse me

A few years back I was with Telstra
There was a deal for new members so I went to Optus got a 2 dollar sim
    Porter my number to Optus
Half an hour later walked to JB and ported back to Telstra and got the deal

This time I’m currently with Telstra $49/60gb peace of mind

How can I make this deal work for me ?
Do the same again and do a Telstra/Optus/Telstra port ?

    • If you are currently with Telstra you have a couple of methods:

Method A involves porting out of Telstra to a non-Telstra network for 30 days, then port back in once 30 days in complete. (I have also heard it can be less than this if you pass a billing period..)

Method B involves buying a $2 sim (new number) with a non-Telstra service provider, then porting that number to Telstra, followed by transferring your existing number across to this new service. (would be great if someone could confirm this method)

I cannot provide much more light on the matter than that unfortunately.

I got one XS 64gb from GG Gepps Cross on this plan, I just wanted to know what are the early cancellation fees? Is it just $390? The staff there said Telstra may claim back the discount on the phone that originally dropped the price down to $199 (~$1200).
When you go to cancel on the Telstra website, it says:

    "
The cost to buy out devices and end this plan today will be at least $390.00

    ADDITIONAL COSTS
If you have an Accessory Repayment option, or have redeem a Telstra New Phone Feeling add-on, are on a Lease plan or if you received a bonus when you signed up, you may need to pay additional costs associated with those too"

    • Keen to know how you go with cancellation go too!

Signed up this afternoon for the XS but can’t collect phone until tomorrow.
Apparently they need some confirmation from Telstra for it to go through.

    • They did the same with me (yesterday afternoon Tuesday) and said they’d get in contact with me (sometime today Wednesday) to come in and pick the phone up as they need confirmation from Telstra and so far i haven’t heard anything from them.

  • +2

Signed up today & picked up the phone 2h later as everything had to be done manually. Will keep the contract for the 12 months - if you account for the phone $199 + cancellation $390, you end up paying $32.50/month for 60GB… not bad at all!!

  • Hi

I called GG today and they said they wouldn't be able to sign me up for two weeks but they have they phone in stock (because of Covid-19).

Would anyone be able to give me details on how to do it manually?

    Thank you!

    • +1

TGG need to do it manually by entering the details through the Telstra system. I signed a paper contract. Wouldn't wait 2 weeks…

      • Thanks, I called up and they said they could do it manually but clearly couldn't be bothered. Sold out.

  • Great deal on the XS - signed up today from GG Alexandria NSW. There was only one left in stock at lunchtime today. They had to manually process due to the Manila call centre being down due to CV-19.

  • If you go on https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/telstra-mobile-and-broadband-… you will find that only the XR offer is online - the XS phone link has disappeared.

  • Call a few stores in Vic, no Xs Max in stock. They have pulled the deal and only XR is available for discount now.

    • +2

Nunawading has XS Max in stock (confirmed minutes ago) and are still offering the deal.

      • Thanks mate, I called them as well. They pulled up the deal from their website, and told me it was no longer there. Only XR is available for discount

  • do you guys know if this deal is still on in Victoria?

  • If you can successfully cancel for $390 and pay no more

The XS 64GB would be 199+390 = $589 in total

Would you ever see this as an outright price or is this as good as it gets?

    • Best price atm is $999. Give it another couple of years and it may get to $500

      • Thank you looks like this is a bargain then

      • Won’t ever get down to $500 as the phone is discontinued. This is probably some of the last of the stock.
Apple doesn’t discount the flagship OLED phones.

Called GG Brighton and was advised there are no XS 64GB in stock in VIC.

  • Gg the Goodguys in Port harbour has stock for iPhone xs but I'm not travelling 4 hours up there lol

    • Out of stock everywhere I was told at my local Victorian store. You can order the xs on backorder. Who knows how long that would take to arrive tho

  • Has anyone been able to upgrade the plan to $80/M for 100GB?

    • Due to new COVID-19 restrictions in the Philippines, there are currently no chat team members available.

  • Picked up my 64gb XS yesterday.
It took them three days to do the port as Siebel was down.
None left in Sydney but there are a few around SEQ.

    • Can you remember where in SEQ?

      • This is four days old but there were 1-2 XS space grey 64gb at Robina, Bundall, Oxley and Morayfield.
        This includes demo units.

  • Has anyone been able to successfully cancel the plan? I am having trouble porting it from Telstra to Kogan .

  • Any stock left in NSW?

  • The billing is so confusing. I received my 1st bill on 19 March 2020 for $65 for "advance charge 17 Mar - 16 Apr" and if I check my account, the billing period is for "18 Feb - 17 March". I just got a 2nd bill for $65 for the billing period "17 March - 16 April". But I signed up for the deal on 16 March?

    • The discrepancy between March 16 / 17 is likely that although you signed up on the 16th you were likely not active till 17 March maybe?? Cannot comment on the Feb 18 till March 17 bill, do you have an existing Telstra service at all??
