Good for kids?
i have the ipad mini 4 and works great for the kids both sizing and price wise as long as you get a case/cover.
so no doubt the 5 would be just fine.
I've had refurb mini 4s for my kids and they have worked a treat. Perfect price to performance and they still get iOS updates.
i must warn ipads are hit and miss. i have bought through ebay and amazon quite a few, one was bent anothers battery failed after a week.
I've bought quite a few products from Greengadgets and Excellent condition always checks out. Battery usually 90%+ too.
I bought the exact one from them long time ago. It has been great.
Agreed, my experience from greengadgets buying 4 different iphones and none of the them were accurately/truthfully described, all in worse condition with scratches/chips/etc that werent shown or mentioned and were immediately obvious with even a cursory glance upon receiving them… sent them all back and bought elsewhere.
Refurbished
My experience with these guys was disappointing.
I bought an excellent condition phone, it literally looked brand new, but the battery was horrendous.
I took it to Apple to have the battery replaced and they said the phone has likely been rebuild with parts from a number of phones and the battery cycle statistics did not correlate with the health.
Their guidance was not to fix it as clearly in their opinion the phone had been tampered with.
Anyway, I called greener gadgets to ask and was offered a refund in about 7 seconds.
I returned the phone to them over 3 weeks ago and the cash has not come back to me.
Be careful.

Regarding your return, once the tracking number shows it has been delivered they have like 3 or 4 days to refund you. If it doesnt happen for some reason, a quick chat or call with eBay will sort it out.Thanks mate.
Mine was via everyday marketplace and I reached out to them. They’ve opened some case because they said GG said it was all done.
Honestly I think with the refund it will be fine and it’s just a bit unlucky. Phone experience, less so.
i don't trust refurb batteries with devices this old
They can't really refurbish the batteries, either it will still have it's (possibly original) used battery in it, or they will replace it with a new third party brand battery.
Still have our iPad mini 5. However battery life is quite bad. Better pickup iPad 7th gen and above rather than this. Save your save from your kids frustration.
Nah bad battery life means automatic device curfew when it runs out lol
The iPad Mini 5th gen and the iPad 7th gen were both released in 2019, so a second-hand device of either should have the same/similar battery health.

That's true, although it also has a bigger screen and is powered by an older/less-efficient CPU.
Apple tech specs state that the expected battery life for both models is the same:
