  • 85$ for delivery to WA…

    Great summary Rapt0r!!

  • What's the price/performance sweet spot for 65" or 75", with regards to R6, R7 or R8?

Anyone got a decent link to an idiots guide comparison?

(Thanks for the brief overview OP - just chasing a little more subjective comparison beyond the specs)

    • +1

No worries! What kind of content do you plan to watch on the TV? For example - free to air TV won't be able to take advantage of dolby vision/atmos, but if you use Netflix or purchase UHD Blu Ray titles then you would be able to. That would form some of the criteria for your decision

      • +1

R7 and R8 also have local dimming though apparently its not true local dimming like the higher end tellys. So basically if you watch Dolby vision/atmos content and need local dimming for well lit rooms go R7/8

      • Mainly Foxtel HD Sports and Movies with a bit of Netflix thrown in.

        • +1

The R6 would be sufficient, but if you care about better picture quality, it wouldn't be a bad idea to future proof and go up to the R7 for the local dimming + Dolby Vision/Atmos support as more streaming platforms and titles support it in future

        • +1

I have both the R6 and R7. The R7 refresh rate is far superior when watching sports

    • +2

      All I remember is that R7 and R8 use a 100Hz panel, R6 is 50Hz.

      • +1

No it is 100 and 200 ( R6 vs R7/8) claimed though hisense is known to not state accurate figures with refresh rates

        • That's why they stated the panel refresh rates, not the fake Smooth Motion rates.

        • +1

The panels are 50 and 100. The software 100 and 200.

  • Weird the R7 65 not available for delivery to Adelaide but the R8 65 is.

  • Noob question, so R8 is the best our of the options?

Which are the best value for money for just Netflix and Playing PS 4?

    • Yep the R8 is the top of the line in terms of their 65-inch panels. The value seems to be at the R6 model - VIDAA 3.0 OS but without the extra bells and whistles of Dolby Vision/Atmos (R7) and Quantum Dot (R8). 100 motion rate on the R6 should be sufficient for your needs versus the "virtual" motion rate of 200 on R7/R8. R7/R8 would have better contast and picture quality though with the local dimming

  • Hi guys is R8 better than this one SONY KD65X8500G 65" X85G – manufactured refurbished from ebay for $1,399 ?
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SONY-KD65X8500G-65-X85G-LED-4K-U…

  • Compared to 65P1, how does r8 fairs?

  • $85 delivery kills the deal for me on this one.

  • Any deals for the 75r8?

  • How would the 55R7 stack against the RU8000?

  • Any reason why VideoPro will ship their 85" model TVs to Tasmania but won't ship anything smaller?

    • my guess it's not worth shipping smaller packages by cubic dimensions/wgt, just a guess

  • So doing some research on R8, found this comment on a jbhifi review:

Had this tv for a week before i had to return it. Picture and sound was great, xbox one x performance fantastic. Unfortunately any streaming application such as netflix suffers from a glitch where the bottom of the screen tears intermittently. This is confirmed to be a common issue based on reports online, hisense do not currently have a solution.

    Anyone else experienced this issue?

    • +1

Interested to hear about this also.. had a few hisense tvs in the past and their OS let them down

    • I saw this as well and im glad you brought it up! Pls comment if you have any experience with this guys :)

  • i want the r8 65 inch for $1000 delivered? who wants my money?

    • +3

Yep, I want your money. No idea about the TV though. :)

      • ur money is ready, send the tv first, and ill western union you the money.

        • Sorry. I was joking. I meant to answer your second question only. I do have a 6 year old Sony 8500B you can have for a $1000 . pickup. :)

  • All i can say is the R7 has bad ghosting/jittery issues with smooth motion.

    • do you have one.

  • I have the 55R7 but it says HDR10?

    It's not real HDR right?

  • +1

I went the 50R7 @ $547.60 pickup. Actually a couple of dollars dearer than the 55R6, but fits my space better and R7!

  • Where's the R9?

    • None in Aus as far as I know.

  • Videopro are sold out of the 55R7 and Appliance Central have now jacked up the price
