First batch sold out in 60 seconds or less. I saw it on a bus shelter in Sydney today. 100 units - this shouldn't be legal to advertise.
it would be a waste of money to advertise if you're only dropping 100 units. Those will be sold even without advertising.
The whole point of the ad was for brand awareness, not to sell Sony earphones.
fair enough. But if they want brand awareness for ebay, they shouldn't wait till they have 100 unit drops to advertise it. They should just do it regularly.
By drawing this much attention to a 100 unit drop, they're just maximising the frustration and disappointment of people who see the ad and think they can get $199 XM3s. This is close to bait and switch.
What they should have done is run the ad when they have a global 15% off sitewide. That way, everyone wins.

@shaz0316: It's definitely not silver. Not white either. It's somewhere between beige and gold, close to the beige end. Some might call it "nude" colour (popular colour for women's bras). I think 'nude' is the closest fit to its actual colour.
It looks more discrete in your ear from a distance.
The same colour is available in the WH models if you've seen those.

these cost twice as much as the air pods deal. The airpods were a bigger % discount. I would say the demand is equivalent with respect to dollar value.

I'm really regretting my Bose Wireless ones. I was thinking of getting the Samsung buds at around $175. Are these worth it over the buds?
The buds are tiny, small carry case, good battery, cancels out a lot of ambient sounds on the commute and fit into my pocket comfortably.
Will the Sony's come close?

The opposite of everything I wrote above. Plus they hurt my right ear. I can't just use the left one without the right. If there's a bit of wind, forget phone calls. If I don't use it for a few days, the batteries on the case and the headphones drop to zero. I have to turn the volume right up to hear what's going on in the train. Terrible!
i think a more important factor that you left out is the call quality. How good is the call quality on the Bose? By that I mean, how well can the person you're talking to hear you?
The battery drain does sound like a big issue. It doesn't happen on my Sony's. I am waiting for the Bose 700 TW ANC Buds, but now I'm a bit concerned due to what you've described above.
@lostn: If I'm indoors, no ambient noise, it's fine. I still need to have the volume turned up 60-70%. If I'm outdoors ,70-90% depending on traffic on the street, I can hear the caller, but they struggle to hear me. On the train, they can never hear me, too much ambient noise. And I can't use the left one by itself. So that's sad. The passive noise cancellation is crap. I'm going to sell them if I get a Sony from here and like them.
@lordra: the Sony does allow you to use one bud if that helps.
Call quality is no better. It's just really hard to make good voice call quality for something this small and far from your mouth.
@lostn: If you want good call quality, go the jabra elite 75t. I have the Sony's and ANC is awesome but call quality average. Had no issues with calls with the 75t.

I have the Bose soundsport one with the wire between the 2 earphones (might be a bit smaller and lighter than the full wireless). It works well for running because of the concha hook.
The Sony are very large and are only held in place by the tip inside your ear. It falls out easily while running unless you shove it in deep, which I can't do.
Can't comment on their noise cancelling.
Both of those are gigantic. I've never tried the galaxy buds but they look smaller and seem to have a rear concha protrusion to help the fit.
