[Switch] Pikuniku - $1.48 (Was $19.50, 92% off) @ Nintendo eShop

1250

I have no idea why this game is so cheap, but it's an absolute gem!

This game isn't challenging or long, but the humour is top-notch for a game that is accessible for people of all ages and wacky enough to hold your attention for the full 3 hours or so that it takes to beat.

Metacritic has it at 76 and 7.6 respectively, but I'd personally say it deserves an 8.

Also has a short hour(ish) long co-op mode that you can play with a friend, significant other, child, parent or roommate while you're in lockdown to help past the time and get a few laughs.

Highly recommended!!

From the site:

Pikuniku is an absurdly wonderful puzzle-exploration game that takes place in a strange but playful world where not everything is as happy as it seems. Help peculiar characters overcome struggles, uncover a deep state conspiracy, and start a fun little revolution in this delightful dystopian adventure!

A Vibrant Adventure for All: Explore a colorful world at your own pace, help quirky characters with their unusual requests, and solve clever puzzles that will challenge both kids and adults.

Charming Cast: Meet a cast of memorable characters on your journey, each with their own problems and eccentricities to accommodate along the way.

Cooperative Mode: Join up with family and friends for local multiplayer fun in custom cooperative levels and challenges.

I bought this game day ONE on impulse because of how silly it looked and wasn't disappointed. Also, it's a Devolver Digital game. A publisher known for their quality Indies.

Recently came to PC gamepass the other day too (along with Ori Will of the Wisps and Surge 2)

    • Can you play that on Switch?

        • +14

So what you're saying is no

          • +2

@Ninternet: Lol yeh I don't recommend it and I don't think it's possible with newer switches from memory.

          • -7

@Ninternet: I’m just technically discussing the possibility. Sorry if it hurts you.

      • +11

This came across ruder than it was meant to. My bad

@[Deactivated]: Okay thanks for letting me know after I'd already apologised

              • +4

@[Deactivated]: Right. So if I presented the idea that you can actually get free food just by walking out of the store without paying for it, I shouldn't be criticised for that because it would be rude?

                • -6

@Ninternet: You didn't criticize, you were just rude.

                  • +2

                    @[Deactivated]: You got rekked son.

                    • -1

@ensanguined: Well I wasn't rude lol, ninternet often comes across as rude and abrupt so nothing new. I should have opened by saying that I was a Nintendo fan, I'm sure I'd have done better :p

                • @Ninternet: Well, modding your switching is not necessarily means you HAVE to install pirate games, like having Internet at home doesn't necessary you have torrenting pirate movies.

F2P on Steam if anyone is interested.

    • +2

It's not F2P, it's the full game playable for a limited time (2 days in this case).

      • +2

Which being a 3hour game, is more than enough time.

  • nice one. looks like a bunch of stuff is 90% off right now

    • +1

Lol … usability is really an issue on this site… how do I browse other games?

@Kerrby: I've lost all faith in anything published by Forever entertainment. None of their games I've played have been fun, they all review very poorly and they're always on 90% off sales every few weeks.

They were meant to be publishing the Panzer Dragoon remake that got announced a year or so ago and haven't said anything since the reveal trailer about its progress. My guess is the developers are seeking another publisher.

            • @Ninternet: What annoys me about Forever Entertainment is that half the games go 79% off, even when they have previously gone 80% off!

There is one game of theirs (Qbik) that I am actually interested in buying - but I have a personal rule to not buy a game unless it at least matches the lowest previous price. But because they switched from 80% to 79% off (for god knows what reason!!), that means I can never buy that game! ahaha.

And it’s extra annoying because it’s one of those games that is on sale every second day, so I’m reminded of this stupidity every time! aha

But yes, I agree - aside from Qbik (which is pretty niche), all their games look pretty average. I wouldn’t waste my time on any of their games even at 90%/79% off…

(Yes, I know the difference is only 7c, but it’s the principle! And I don’t want to support a shifty publisher!) :)

highly recommend this game for a laugh in single player and more ridiculous in co-op mode.

  • On to the back catalog it goes.

  • Great game - played a bit of co-op with the wife the other day, and I just played through the single player campaign today. Short, but well worth the $1.48!

  • +2

Anything else on sale worth a pickup at a great price?

    • +2

In terms of quality verse price, nothing as good as this.

There are some other games for decent prices at the moment such as Freedom Planet, the Shantae games, Bulletstorm, etc.

But they're all in the $10-$20 range.

Blazing Beaks is fairly interesting if you're into Roguelikes for $3 I think.

Alternatively, there's the 1-9c games I've posted in other deals recently, but they're on the US store.

      • Thanks

  • Been playing this on and off all day with the kids - what a great game! thanks!

    • Glad you enjoy it :)

Definitely has a broad appeal in terms of age

Love it, thanks OP! BASKICK IS LIFE.

  • +2

Thanks OP. Bought on the recommendation here and was engrossed for 3 hours and loved every minute. Reminds me a lot of Tombi or Swordigo.

    • The story is good entertainment

Did you get a chance to try the co-op mode?

      • Not yet. It's on my todo list.

  • In order to continue, please access Nintendo eShop on the Nintendo Switch console linked to this Nintendo Account.
    :-(

  • Thanks heaps for the tip on this one. We bought it with our coins that we had in credit and are loving it.

  • Just finished it now, got all the trophies for the single player mode. Good fun, music was fine, all round worth the dollar and change I spent.
