We are feeling a little heavy-hearted and hope you are all doing OK.

Our retail stores are open with measures now in place to deal with our new reality. Staff only assisted honey tastings and heightened hygiene protocols have been implemented.

Our online store is open and we will continue to deliver direct to your home as long as it is safe for our staff and community to do so.

As a heads up to our amazing online community, we are getting our ducks in a row to offer you free shipping for orders placed next Wednesday from 6pm to midnight Thursday 26th. Outside of this, our regular postage flat rate is $15 and orders over $100 always receive free shipping. We deliver in Australia only.

Please stay safe and look after each other. A big hug from us.

Thanks OP, do you mean it ends midnight tonight?

    • Also would like clarification.

      • yes, midnight tonight (26th, thursday)

      • Thanks OP! :)

    Love beechworth honey!

  • +1

    Is this honey raw?

    • +1

      Yes, except WA orders.

      Found this in their FAQ:
Honey needs to be gently warmed to enable the honey to flow when being extracted from the frames and to strain out hive matter eg bees legs, beeswax etc. We do not pasteurise our honey except where it is a legal requirement to do so i.e. to send it into WA.

I bought Beechworth 3KG Billy several times from online store in the past. it was free shipping over $100 so I use to order 3x for $35 each to go over $100 limit but now they have increased the price of the 3KG billy to $45. Don't think it is worth it anymore.

  • +5

    Their products are very pricey

    • +3

That's probably why they have a heavy heart posting this here on OzB

      • I am not associated with Beechworth Honey even though I posted it here

        • -2

Probably should make that clearer in the original post

          • +2

@cheesecactus: It's as clear as night and day. I see no Associated tag infront of the OP's name.

    • Classic Honey 1.5kg Billy is $24.5 on their website, which Woolies only sell for $22…

      • I’ve never seen a billy in woolies.
        Probably fresher from them

  • I've bought from them a few times, very very good honey, Best one is their red stringy bark.

Although I noticed they raised their prices on their 1.5k by 2.50$ and their 350g by 1.50$. But with free shipping, the 1.5kg is a deal!

  • +1

    Free shipping but increased price…

    • +1

Indeed, but if you go for the 1.5kg range, theyve only increased by 2.50. Better than shipping cost.

I went to Beechworth while on a camping trip in Year 6, can confirm that this honey is some of the best honey I've ever tasted. Generally from what I remember is that the darker the honey, the sweeter and stronger the flavour is.

    • Have you tried Leatherwood honey? That stuff is heaven.

      • So glad the bushfires this year didn't devastate the Leatherwood like it did last year. It's the only honey I eat.

  • -2

That type of honeys great for the immune system and winter, and overall substitute for sugar.

  • Thanks, glad to support a local got 1kg (and i need honey).

  • +1

Anyone else getting declined from shipping to WA for all products?

E.g. "Unfortunately, "Bee Fruity Yellow Box Honey 1.5kg Billy" is not eligible for shipping to Western Australia. To complete your order, please select an alternative shipping State / County, or remove "Bee Fruity Yellow Box Honey 1.5kg Billy" from your cart."

    • +3

Probably because WA only allows WA produced honey . Can't import honey from any other state or territory here.

      Quarantine restrictions, rather lame tbh

Crap… I just ordered from them last week…

Btw, these will be delivered using Fastway Couriers… I've been having issues with their deliveries. Maybe just my area.

If you have issues with Fastway, ask Beechworth to deliver using AusPost instead.

    • Just hope they don't use star track… They card me when I'm home, never ring the bell, AND take it to a post office for collection at a post office that is NOT my local post office!

Beechworth are great though. I love their dark honeys and my wife like the lighter ones. I eat it every day.

Aussie bush honey is just so fantastic

  • Ordered some regular and creamy, haven't had honey in my pantry for a while but i found its better pricing on woolies.

    “I’m shopping for -
    a) for myself
    b) for women”

    lol.

  • Thanks OP! Gotta get me honey!

Just made an order for some pretty awesome looking stuff I haven't seen in shops yet :) More than happy to support Beechworth as they're ethical honey suppliers!

    • Most of their honeys never end up in shops. A lot of them are just too limited in supply availability to ever end up on a supermarket. And so many of those varieties are so good. Oddly some most surprisingly interesting tastes I've had are Buckwheat and Lucerne. I love all the native tree ones, but those two, particularly buckwheat, is so distinct they are of a league of their own.

      • I'm looking forward to trying the honey sodas and the creamed honey is just going to be delicious - I grew up eating my grandfather's since he used to have beehives.

      • Dunno what you're talking about Mobe - I've seen quite a few of theirs at my local Coles

It you login to their account they give this book free

Cooking Tasting Living Honey Cook Book

  • Bloody best! These guys never have free delivery

  • +2

Thank you for the post. I am going to order, but first I had to make an account (no guest checkout), and second there's no paypal option. I rarely purchase this way. If anyone from Beechworth Honey is reading this, please consider guest checkout and paypal option. I was almost put off by the fact that I had to make an account, and I had to enter my credit card details.

  • +1

@Melbournian please update the post to write that nothing can be sent to Western Australia! The point at which you find out is after you've carefully selected a product AND entered in all your credit card numbers :-(

    • Well, now it says: Free Shipping on All Orders (Except WA) 😅

  • Had the 3kg Classic Honey in cart, was umming and ahhing about other flavours and it went out of stock! :(

    update: back in stock

  • Thanks OP, bought a red bark billy

  • Thanks got some.

  • Can anyone recommend which honey to go for? perhaps for breakfast, drinks and baking. Thanks

    • +1

Ordered a red stringybark billy and 350gm buckwheat based on recommendations here

      • Thanks for that!
will try red stringy bark and another variety

  • Great stuff just ordered a few. Thanks

  • Since this was posted on the 27th am I correct in that postage is $15 now?

  • How come their honey is cheaper at Coles and Woolies?

  • Placed an order on 26/03. When can I expect the delivery?

    • Me too. Still not shipped. Understand there may be delays, but would be good to get an update.

  • Anyone had their order shipped?

  • -1

nothing, nothing, think i got scammed.

Just got an update, probably overwhelmed with orders:

Thanks for your recent order. We received an incredible response to our Free Shipping event last week. We are most definitely feeling the love for Beechworth Honey far and wide.

Our team is working as quickly as possible to get your orders packed and sent out to you. It may take a little longer than expected due to staff safety protocols and the high demand our freight partners are experiencing. We hope to have all orders shipped by early next week. Your patience is appreciated.

Once your order is packed and dispatched you will receive a message via Shippit. This will allow you to track your delivery.

Thank you for your support and for choosing 100% Australian Honey.

    • Received the same email today.

      • Got the following today:

"Great news! Our worker bees have packed and despatched the items you ordered below. Enjoy!"

        :)

  • Received my order in Country Vic on 02/04 .Great products as always .

  • This is our first post, so be nice.

    Have just discovered this thread.

You may start finding good honey at your local shops as all the farmer markets are not operating as the markets are usually the only avenue for beekeepers to sell their honey.
Taking honey to the shops to sell sees us get a lot less and the consumer pay a lot more. It usually sells on consignment as well. They only pay for what sells, and then only many weeks later.
Raw honey will usually cyrstallize ( go hard ) very quick. It shows it's the real thing and hasn't been heated. If you want it runny again, just place it on the dash of your car a couple of hours and it goes runny again.

Getting free delivery is a bonus, but at $12 to send a parcel, this makes the honey way too expensive.

As for honey coming in from NZ, you'll find it well heated to kill all the incoming bugs, and all the goodness. Best stick to a beekeeper local near where you live. The closer the honey to where you live the better. If you suffer from allergies buying a honey from local will have all the antibodies, as the bees are taking from the pollen that's giving you issues.

As someone mentioned previously, West Australia (as well as Tasmania and King Island) doesn't allow honey products into the our state, as we don't have the bee pests found in the eastern states. They'll eventually get through.

Another myth is that West Australian honey isn't allowed to be shipped over east. Remember, our honey is allowed out but honey can't come in.

If you order honey from from outside the state, it'll get confiscated. The seller should know this>

  • My delivery has not yet arrived.

Probably still in NSW for all I know.

As per advice here, requested Auspost, but they still used Fastway. Uggh.
