Thank you to all of the amazing artists who have helped make this happen.

It all kicks off with James Corden in the hilarious #OneManTwoGuvnors on 2 April at 7pm UK time. Save the date, and we’ll see you there!

Play 1 2/4: Official One Man, Two Guvnors with James Corden | Free National Theatre Full Performance
Play 2 9/4: Official Jane Eyre directed by Sally Cookson

All the plays will be available for 7 days after the broadcast.

Great, so we don't need to tune in at any given time. That's good. Thanks

Aren't we suffering enough right now…..

I have no idea why anyone likes this bloke.

I laughed at his Reddit AMA backfiring: https://amp.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/bqy5zf/i_am_james_cor…

Edit: (saw someone below already posted it)

This performance is from a few years ago, and I think he nailed it.
My opinion is that he is not as entertaining now, but this is worth a look.

  • Thank you!

James Corden's AMA from Reddit last year.

More anecdotes on his character: https://twitter.com/sebpatrick/status/919500140993482753?lan…

I'm not saying he's not a jerk, but Reddit is just as a reliable source of character as Twitter.

That is to say, they're not. Generally just a bunch of people pretending to be perfect individuals and sharing popular (usually negative) opinions so they gain Karma or Clout.

I don't think the TripAdvisor reviews for his show put him in a positive light: https://www.tripadvisor.com.au/Attraction_Review-d8368551?m=…

There seems to be a similar theme to many of the anecdotes.

        • I'd say TripAdvisor accounts are more likely to be accurate reviews as they've most likely actually come into contact with him rather than a bunch of people trying to get upvotes on Reddit by repeating what other people have said to get upvotes

Is there a spreadsheet or some quick view of the various free entertainment options we have? I'm (not quite) a boomer so incapable if setting this up, but I'm sure it would be a great resource for many. There's getting to be so many free options available that it's hard to keep track.

  • Plays are usually kinda crap on a screen.

    • +2

Not when you pay $20 for a ticket and see it on the big screen.

These National Theatre Live performances are filmed with a live audience in the theatre, but not over-produced. The performances are usually broadcast through cinemas globally (delayed in Aust).
They are good quality in my view.

I saw One Man and Two Guvnors and Frankenstein with Benedict Cumbersnatch and Jonny Lee Miller (Double Sherlock) when they were shown in cinemas. Both were great. Definitely worth a watch.

    • Same here. Also saw The Curious Incident of the Dog in the night time (one of my favourite NT Live play) in the cinema. Then watched the live performance in Melbourne which featured the original UK cast.

  • Made my day!! James Corden is the best.

  • Thanks OP, this is great! I saw One Man, Two Guvnors and really enjoyed it. Jane Eyre, the second play out on April 9th, was great too.

  • Is that Chris Farley in the picture?

This belongs in the forums, otherwise might as well post everything from youtube…

  • After the lockdown everyone will be garden experts and theatre buffs

  • When I hear James Corden, immediate thought is to slit my wrist.

  • Frankenstein this week.
