    Won't kill a virus though….

"Given the structural similarities of the COVID-19 virus to the coronavirus strains tested previously (SARS-CoV, MERS-CoV, Human Coronavirus), and based on the evidence available to us, we would expect our Dettol products (listed above) to be effective against the new strain. Definitive scientific confirmation of this, as with all other commercially available virucides, can only be provided once testing against COVID-19 Coronavirus has been conducted, following release of the strain by relevant health authorities."

Well if we're gonna base our opinion on expecting, believing, feeling how something works, then we could actually use anything and believe that it does the job…

Love marketing play and wording, I'm just lovin' it, it's always in line with the law so you can't hold them accountable for anything. Till they get it so call tested shares have gone 1000% up sky high 😂

        • If their shares have actually sky rocketed, it's because their product supply can't match demand.

Take it or leave it. If you want to wash yourself with a soggy old sock, dipped in dog crap (or as you say "anything") … have at it.

I'll vote for you at the next Darwin Awards …

CDC says "less effective". If you're vulnerable to this you're better off assuming these do nothing and use soap. Relying on these to destroy the virus as a certainty would be…ill advised.

        https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/hcp/hand-hygiene-f…

    • Logical fallacy, penalty box. "Antibacterial" doesn't mean it kills a virus, but it doesn't mean it doesn't either. Many antibacterial things do work against most viruses, but not necessarily all viruses.

    • why we bothering to wash our hands with soap then

      • What does soap have to do with it? There's no debate over the efficacy of soap, it works with pretty much everything.

    No good against the Coronavirus?

    • Apparently it works to a degree, but:

      https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/hcp/hand-hygiene-f…

"However, available evidence indicates benzalkonium chloride has less reliable activity against coronavirus than either of the alcohols." (i.e. ethanol, isopropanol, mixed with water, as used in hand sanitisers)

Can be a bit hard to find alcohol-based products at the moment though if you didn't already have any to hand.

This is not cheap. $5 per 120 is usual sale price

Yeah ok try finding one for $5 each these days. I bet you wouldn't be able to find stock to begin with. Remember the stock shortage from panick buyers due to Coronavirus.

      • i just dont think rrp is bargain despite the circumstances.

        • Some how i don't think $19 is the RRP.

And hey you're paying $3.99 for just a 45 pack of these from Chemist Warehouse. That's if you can even find it in stock. And RRP on that is $4.19.

          https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/85180/dettol-surface…

So $6.33 for each 120 packs is a bargain in comparison. Especially in this climate these days. Remember that these wipes are made in China and the lack of these imports from China due to the Coronavirus event make these hard to get means the price tends to increase with a high demand. It's called supply and demand.
