    Just looked and I got 300GB 😳

    That's on top of the 30GB bonus already received, on a 35GB SIM which I got paid $11 to have (after cash back)!!
    I'm lucky to use 10GB per month, let alone 365GB. I'd donate some data if I could…

    At the top of my plan page it says "Promotion - Unlimited mobile data for 3 renewals" … it's a new account but I don't know where that came from.

      There was a promotion back in December for 3 months unlimited..which they extended to march and gave current customers another 3 months unlimited I think which they've now extended to July and given current customers unlimited until then. I've been sitting on unlimited data for $40 a month since then. Could be that perhaps?

    Perhaps, since everyone's staying home, they're using their home internet connection, and mobile data usage has dropped markedly so mobile operators have data capacity to burn and are giving it away?

    Mobile data is heavily throttled these days… If you are at home it makes almost no point using Mobile data unless Mobile data is the only option for you

    I purchased 5 months ago on 6*28 renewals from Groupon…cost $10-groupon- cashback around $6 bucks and they have been giving me 100gb every month since early January…..really strange marketing, I don,t know what are they gaining out of this?? have like 150gigs in my account…

      Incredibly strange marketing. They’re actually running competitions where each GB you use, you get an entry to win a phone. They’re encouraging everyone to use their data. Sure, some people will go over and they’ll make some money there but most people won’t and surely they have to pay Optus for this data. It’s weird, but awesome.

      Also I used to work at a Telco and we certainly didn’t have capacity on the network to be encouraging people to use as much data as they could.

        So many must have landline internet with unmetered streaming at home so there just isn't much demand for the phone data?

        If the network is going to waste it costs them almost nothing for, at worst, a bit of PR.

        Seems like a good way to encourage people to use their phones data more. Maybe a few will upgrade to bigger plans later down the road. Works for crack dealers.

    This is insane! Woke up to 100 GB added on my Unlimited 2GB Plan! Anyone knows what is the expiry date of the bonus? Usually amaysim sends an email, but nothing yet. I think the email would come later during the day today (9-Apr).

    anyone actually got an email from them about the increase to their data plans? it's usually better to have a bit of a confirmation in case they eff up and charge us for 100GB of data ($1000).

    I THINK that since everyone's at home using their home internet so now Amaysim has a crap load of data that they pre-paid for as spare so they might as well just reward the people who stayed by them since Amaysim already paid for it.

    That or Optus has migrated over their new 5G network since it more 5G towers was meant to go online in March so it leaves the 4G network unused. Maybe it will be truly unlimited for a while like the old 3G network was for a bit before they shut it down.
