        Wrong. It's on anything.

Anybody know the ETC for 12 months plan?

        • Half the cost of the plan is Telstra general rule

        • you sure, going by op's description: "I can confirm that this weekend its $700 gift card. NO requirement on the type of phone you want."

          • @RogueWolf: That could possibly be that normally for that plan you get credit that must be spent on the phone.

        • It's half.. $390.
This amount reduces pro rata each month.

I think it's about $11 reduction each month based on my last bill.

    • Thanks DigitalJade
      Just 1 correction….on 24mths plan you get 80GB

  • my 12mth almost up…
whats the best way to port out and sign up again to get another GC…

    prepaid optus?

Yep, this is what i did. Happened to find a $10 Optus sim on my last few days of the telstra contract. Im heading in today to start my new telstra contract.

Looks like there is a $10 amaysim deal still active.

  • Since we're on the topic of JB Telstra Plans…

I'm guessing the answer is no, but does anyone know if the JB Plans include 5G access?

As they're genuine Telstra (not an MVNO) I'd think it could be enabled, but not sure if it works with these plans as well as the normal BYO Telstra ones.

    • +1

went on a telstra plan yesterday and i get 5g (jb hifi deal) i also was told to come back after firs bill to be put onto the 45 plan from 65 12 month so i got the 400 giftcard

  • +2

the page shows it's not a gift card but phone credit. "Phone credit can’t be used on any other items in store. "

  • Got this deal at Westfield Chatswood yesterday

Can confirm its $700 and is a gift card (doesnt have to be used on a phone)

They also had signs in store advertising the offer

    • And is that 24 months contract?

      • Yes 24 mths

  • -2

    No 5G on these plans.

    • They are on the proper Telstra network so do have 5G.

      • 5G is a trial included on plans listed on the Telstra website but don't seem to be included on JB Plans.

If someone could test would be great.

        • Im on the JB plan and have 5G

The JB plan is still a Telstra plan, is billed through Telstra, etc

          • +1

@doomguy: Fantastic good to know :).

Yes but wasn't sure if the 5G trail was enabled on the JB plans.

Whenever I speak to Telstra they tell me to speak to JB…

  • That's alot of extra steps to pay ~35$ for 24 months.

  • Is it possible to take advantage of this deal if I am with Woolworths Mobile (uses Telstra network)?. Thanks

    • Woolworths is OK

      Belong and Boost are not

      • So if I am on Boost, I cannot take this deal?

  • Can confirm this deal just signed up for it. Only downside is telstra online chat/phone chat is out of action so not able to try and get the $10 port in credit.

    • did you ever get success on getting the $10 credit? if so please let me know, i’ve been looking for someone with transcript of them negotiating.

  • +3

Wow I posted this deal 2 weeks ago and everybody said it was still a bad deal because of 24 months lol

  • Can someone please confirm this SIM card has wifi calling? I currently have a iphone 6 with an Optus SIM and this is deal is appealing to get the new iphone that was released yesterday, but especially at the moment working from home, I am making a lot of phone calls. Mobile reception is fine outside (in ACT) but for some reason is very poor in the house. The wi-fi calling makes it so much better so wouldn't want to lose that feature.

    • I'm not to techno based but if that's VoLTE then yes it does.

    • Yes it does.

  • THe deal only mentions 500 GIft Card? Not $700?

Also, can i use it on the same purchase?

  • +1

So… is this going to be the best deal for an iPhone SE 2020? Hmm, hold onto the GC until stock arrive and pay $49.

    • Unless a better deal comes out

  • +2

it looks like the 12 month $45 per month with $200 gift card is also available in-store only until Sunday (not advertised on-line)
    I much prefer it to the $65 plans if you don't need the massive data allowance (12 x $45 = $540, less $200 = $340, or $28.33 per month)

    • Exactly. I don't think I've ever got close to my monthly limit with so many other wifi options available.

  • Does anyone know if this plan would not allow tethering/hotspotting?

    • +1

Creating a mobile hotspot is a phone feature/ability, network providers cannot stop it.

      • +1

        Thank you for your reply.

Might be wrong here, but I've heard of telcos with t&c against hotspotting. But I'm not sure how they might enforce it.

        • But why?

        • +1

As mentioned above they can't stop it, but to confirm I msgs the 12 mth plan and I do hotspot and tethering fine.

  • Tried to port in from Optus (after porting out 1hr prior), rep @ Bondi wouldn’t process it. Reckoned he wouldn’t be able to print the voucher, tried another rep and he confirmed the number showed as disconnected but wasn’t comfortable. Both were parachuting from different stores due to the closures in city so not sure if they were reluctant to rock the boat? Will try another store tomorrow.

    • Just been given the same line at Eastgardens, moral is porting out is hit/miss. There must be something about my acct (i’ve got nbn and another mobile service) that’s slowing the disconnect process. Guess i’ll have to give this promo a miss and hope something else comes up after 30 days!

Was at JB this afternoon. Saw they also have the iPhone 11 ($1199) advertised in store for $599 outright, on a 12 month $65/month plan. That's a $600 saving. Only a 12month contract too. So if you are after that particular phone, it might be better that a 2 year contract.

Think smart and cover the remaining costs with a discounted JB Hi-fi gift card so you get 4% or 5% off (depending on what memberships you have to get discounted JB Hi-Fi gift cards)

    • Which JB was that?

      • DFO Essendon

    • Gonna head there today to see if I can confirm, if so seems like great value

      • Look for the blue piece of paper (printed in black and white) - they leave it on the table of the phone displays
I should have taken a picture, but I wasn't eligible as I'm with Boost at the moment and they said I needed to be with another network for 30 days :(

      • Could you please confirm once visited the shop @cruiseronroad? A photo of the flyer as mentioned by @camtg would be great.

I called JB Gepps Cross (SA) and have been advised that the iPhone 11 promotion is real but it is actually for 24 months and not 12 months.

        • Interesting. I didn't read the fine print - only took the word of the sales staff when I asked if this deal was still going.
I'ld be interested to know too. Porting out today. Optus Sim card bought .

        • +1

Too good to be true, it probably is.
          24month plan confirmed in store.

          Still similar value to a $400 12 month or $200 12 month

          • @cruiseronroad: Thanks for confirming. $700 one is better in this case.

Sorry to get some of you excited.

  • I got a 500$ voucher for 55$/month on a 12-month contract.
Used it to get the iPad pro last year.
Was 65$/month but got a 10$/month discount for opting into Telstra via JB Hifi.
Just do it via the Telstra chat app.

    • can you please send a photo of the transcript?

Use the $700 to preorder the new iPhone SE 64GB

$49 upfront for the phone, $65 per month with 80GB data? Good deal?

    • Personally not for a phone, but if you need an iPhone and want ease of plan payments, then yes.

I got s10e for $680, and optus 365 prepaid, $67 a month over 12 months. Next year can drop to $11 a month.

  • Anyone know what is the expiration of this gift card? Is this a normal 24 months?

    • Not sure about the $700 gift card if they have special terms and conditions

But regarding the "normal 24 months", my understanding is that they have increased this.
I bought an JB egift card about a week ago, it was sent yesterday with the expiry date as 17/04/2119 - I have 99 years to use it :p

  • Just signed myself and my partner up for the $45pm, $200 gift card option
    Coming from this deal myself.

(Ported out to Optus 2ish months ago)

  • It doesn't look like, but is anyone able to confirm is any international calls included on the $65/month plan? Looking to sign up for my old man, but international calls a must for him so he can call my Grandmother in Singapore

    • No international call for Telstra as far as I'm aware

      • OK cool thx mate

  • Has anyone got $700 gift card this weekend?
    If so what store
    TIA
    Mark

  • I signed up to this deal today. JB have this deal and another for the new iPhone SE on the same 24 month plan but the 64GB version included (instead of the gift card obviously)

Strictly speaking that is a better deal because the phone costs $749.

I went for this deal because I wanted the 128GB version. They won’t let you do the deal with the phone included and just pay the extra $80.

However, I was able to negotiate the 128GB version down to $804.50 instead of $829, so will pay $104.50 extra.

Another advantage of this deal is I now own the phone outright, whereas with the phone included deal, not sure if you have to pay for the phone if you leave early.

    • Well you paid for the phone via the supposedly bonus credit but if you do cancel, there will be ETC, $780. Not cheap. But "save" you from another $780 over the 24 months period.

      • True. I am not planning on leaving early. I was paying $45 per month on my Optus SIM only plan so was aware this was $20 per month more for the "$700 gift card".
