$10/ $20 Voucher upon Sign-up to Free 30 Day Trial of eBay Plus @ eBay

250
MODALV1

I was browsing eBay and this popped up at the top of the screen - ironically on an account that I've signed up to eBay Plus already (via the $1 offer). Seems like free money? Says you've got to sign up to the free trial and then you'll get your voucher to use within 30 days.

Update: Thank you pavlos for the signup promo code and a screenshot of modal popup window that appears on the page.

You will need to have an existing eBay account with purchase history, that has never used the free trial.

  • Any minimum amount to use the voucher ?

    • Doesn’t look like it:

      Use of eBay Voucher
      - The voucher may be spent on items listed on www.ebay.com.au except for Excluded Items.
      - The voucher is valid for 30 days from the time you signed up to eBay Plus (‘Validity Period’). The voucher will cease to be valid if it is not redeemed during the Validity Period.
      - Excluded Items means all items listed in the following categories: Cars, Bikes, Boats (9800), Coins (11116), Other Lots More Items (88433), Real Estate (10542)
      - To redeem the voucher, enter the code displayed in the sign-up confirmation page or your My eBay page into the redemption code box during the checkout process.
      - The code cannot be used in conjunction with any other eBay Offer, coupon or voucher.
      - You can only use the code once during the Validity Period.
      - The code is provided to you as an eBay User and the limitations on its usage apply on that basis even though you may have registered a number of different eBay User IDs.

    • It didn't state a minimum spend, no

  • +2

Don't do it. It's a scam. eBay will take your money then your family and friends.

    • +13

They'll take my family? Sounds great, I could do with some peace.

  • +4

Amazon Prime is practically more useful than eBay Plus

    • +11

No comparison, it's a lot better.

Only have Plus because it was effectively free.

  • +1

I would not recommend signing up, it has no benefits at all.

I have had it for 9 months now and have not really found any benefits worth paying for.

I would rather pay $100 odd dollars a year for Amazon Prime as the bargains and money saved on that will easily be made up for in a few weeks or months.

    • Sign-up, use $10 and cancel account?

    • I completely agree. However my thoughts behind this one was to sign up, use the $10 voucher, and cancel :)

  • It this targeted don't seem it see it on my account.

    • I don't believe it is targeted because it came up on my eBay account that already has the eBay Plus subscription from when it was $1

  • +1

    Nahh.. not worth it..

  • +1

Where do we go to, to see if we got this?

Give us an ebay page (not the T&C), or email date + subject line.. something!

    • +1

As stated, I was randomly browsing and it appeared at the top of the screen, so the only page I can link to was the T&C

      • Fair enough. It looked a bit TLDR and I was in a rush

  • Wasn't it $30 voucher previously?

    • The idea is not to actually keep the eBay Plus subscription…

Ebay deals are just horrible. I had a look at the latest one, $5 off app spend. Turns out minimum $75 requirement.

    • I just got the $5 app discount on a $25 order.

  • I wonder what the requirements are to get this.
The last one ended up quite a PITA - you had to have purchased more than its value to qualify: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/505701?page=1#comment-8493… Wasnt able to get it to work..

  • +1

Do not sign up for this, it's likely that ebay will not come through and you'll end up wasting your time following this up with their customer "service". From personal experience.

    • Don't tell me that now >.< lol
I'll be the guinea pig, and let you know how it goes

  • is targeted, u can't just make a new account and get this.

    • I don't believe it is targeted because it came up on my eBay account that already has the eBay Plus subscription from when it was $1

      • i got 4 accounts, never join plus be4 and i dont c this offer.

        • I have 3x accounts - now 4x - and it just came up today when browsing briefly on one account. It is possible that it is a new promotion they have started today. I haven't done any more browsing yet.

The eBay Plus signup promo code for this is MODALV1T&Cs link

FYI screenshot of modal popup window that appears on the page… https://imgur.com/HHjGmPr

  • Instead of $10 voucher, I got $20 voucher. What a surprised. Has any one got the same? I also notice that if you were having the free trial previously, you will have to pay the $49 straight away, so to take up this voucher is not a good deal.

    • Nice one!

Looks like if you have to have an existing account that never used the trial, otherwise brand new accounts get:
"Sorry, you're ineligible for this offer due to lack of purchase history. You can still unlock a range of exclusive offers & free delivery on millions of Plus items if you join eBay Plus."

Otherwise if you've already used the trial in the past and have purchase history, it says:
"You have already tested eBay Plus for free. If you sign up now, the annual membership fee is due immediately."

      • Can't agree more

        • Sorry I didn't see your comment edit until now.

Talk about eBay dashing my hopes of pulling a quick OzB trick on them, by using the voucher then canceling the trial 😆

But nonetheless if you have an account that fits the criteria, it's a free voucher as long as you cancel the trial before it charges you the subscription fee. Hopefully it helps someone out there.

Anybody worked out the 'required purchase history' for this one?

  • I contacted live chat and said I haven't received my voucher on the new account after signing up for this offer. They tried to tell me I wasn't eligible first, then when that didn't work, they said I had to wait until the end of the trial… when that didn't work they said I have to wait until I had been charged the $49 subscription fee, then they'd send it. I referred them to their own Terms and Conditions each time, and so in the end they gave me a $10 voucher with no min spend to use within 30 days. Annoying, but I'm happy with that :)

  • Just tried the voucher, but it is only to be used for Ebay Plus item only. Oh man !

    • Hey that's not what the Terms & Conditions say. I'd be talking to live chat about that.

      Use of eBay Voucher

      1. The voucher may be spent on items listed on www.ebay.com.au except for Excluded Items.

      4. To redeem the voucher, enter the code displayed in the sign-up confirmation page or your My eBay page into

      • No Mate, it is probably for $10
Conditions. The offer entitles you to $20 off the purchase price (excluding postage costs) on eBay Plus items (i.e. items listed on www.ebay.com.au designated with the eBay Plus logo) except the Excluded Items. A maximum of 1 transaction applies. Multiple Eligible Items may be purchased in one transaction ). All monetary amounts specified in these terms and conditions are in Australian dollars (AUD).

  • I wonder if their system will recognise me as a new user if I cancel and then do the $50 voucher with a $49 spend promotion. Seems like some decent deals come up with Plus during the year.

  • When I tried to cancel, I was offered $30 gc if I want to continue paying $49. No deal.
