Yep got the update email after I replied saying too bad, website didn't track.

    Gave me this list:
    1) Do not open other web pages (including search sites, social media, store sites, promotional/discount sites) or web browsers after clicking through ShopBack or while using our extension.
    2) Do not click through to another page from a banner, pop-up, or advertisement on the store’s webpage whilst shopping
    3) Please disable Antivirus/cleanup or Adblocker extensions completely as it will remove tracking cookie or disrupt with the Cashback tracking (Tracking cookies are required to track transaction)
    4) Clear your shopping cart before you click through to ShopBack.
    5) Do look into the merchant's pages to check if the promo codes you are using are listed with us.

Which I ensured I followed entirely. It likely had something to do with BWS website being super laggy at the time.

Going to submit to ACCC and office of fairtrading. Even if I miss out on my $25, hopefully it logs in both their systems that this is happening and they can get more ammunition to fight shopback.

      Same issue here, Gecko.

Response to my follow-up e-mail with Shopback (As suggested here):

Thank you for reaching out to ShopBack!

Firstly, I would like to apologize for your experience, and I understand it can be frustrating to not receive what you expected.

After checking our partner's systems network, the reason why your claim was rejected is that BWS has determined that your order was not attributed to ShopBack. As a result, ShopBack will not receive a commission from BWS for this order, which means we are not able to pay cashback for this purchase.

You may be aware of this however I thought I'd share some best practices for successful Cashback:

      1) Do not open other web pages (including search sites, social media, store sites, promotional/discount sites) or web browsers after clicking through ShopBack2) Do not click through to another page from a banner or advertisement on the store’s webpage whilst shopping
      3) Please disable Antivirus/cleanup or Adblocker application completely as it may remove tracking cookie or disrupt with the Cashback tracking (Tracking cookies are required to track transaction)
      4) Clear your shopping cart before you click through to ShopBack. (For some merchant)
      5) Use an incognito window (This would prevent the storing of corrupted cookies)

I hope the tips above will help you in getting your next Cashback to be tracked successfully.

Thank you and have a nice day!

I got the middle finger from shopback for the second time too…. 😠

      • +1

Same, I got the exact same copy/pasted email for the second time.

  • +1

Followed the standard procedure that hasn't lead me wrong with Cash rewards, somehow still got my claim rejected. I literally only did the order to claim this cashback, last time I use Shopback.

    BAN SHOPBACK AND BWS!!

I emailed them as per request of one of the staff here claiming they “will investigate on a case by case basis” to follow up after they rejected my cash back even though they show the click recorded a couple of minutes before my purchase order.

Even after replying to their “your cash back is rejected” they still sent me a pretty much identical reply saying it’s STILL rejected and all the usual crap excuses as to why.

If ShopBack is not at fault then I would still expect them to speak to BWS and show them that there is overwhelming evidence that their system was clearly screwed and remove them as one of their shops. But they’re not doing that, just telling us “tough luck”

412 v 5 says your vote for a ban is somewhat pointless

      • +3

These positive votes are pointless as they are related to an original post. I think more than 10% people have issues with this company. They definitely deserve some penalty.

        • More than 10 percent?
Did you drink your bws order before coming up with that number :)

          • @SBOB: Are you shopback employee?

            • @Ash-Say: Nope. Are you a cash rewards employee???

  • +1

    My first amount wasnt tracked,
    Then I submitted a manual,
    Then it was tracked wrong
    I asked them to rectify
They rectified to the correct amount

I have another trans that has tracked incorrectly, so I'm glad I'm better off than those who got rejected.

    • Consider changing your upvote to a neg so this stuff doesn't continue to happen.

      • If they fix ill leave my vote
If they don't fix it , i will revoke

  • +4

I received a response to my rejection just now:

After checking our partner's systems network, the reason why your claim was rejected is that BWS has determined that your order was not attributed to ShopBack. As a result, ShopBack will not receive a commission from BWS for this order, which means we are not able to pay cashback for this purchase.

Of course, we realize this is a disappointing outcome. That said, I thought I’d be proactive and review your account with my manager and have the approval to compensate the Cashback amount of $5 into your account on this occasion, the Cashback should be reflected in your ShopBack account within 1 hour as “pending”.

I think they only paid this because it's a low amount. Not sure how lucky other people will be.

    • Interesting. I paid $96 for my BWS order and received the same. :|

  • +7

I did not track, spent $100 cheated out of $25. I think this is a scam. I will be reporting this company for MISLEADING AND DECEPTIVE CONDUCT. I advise others affected to do the same. I did everything they required and they did not make good on their offer:

    https://www.accc.gov.au/publications/advertising-selling/adv…

    • Don’t forget to formally complain to BWS as well, stating the reason has to do with Shopback, and also notify them you are demanding a refund of the cashback amount, or you will have a chargeback processed on your credit card. This is what I’m doing. Shopback’s response is bullshit and they shouldn’t be allowed to get away with it.

  • +6

I sent this in with my claim. Fair enough on a delay, or telling people there were issues with tracking that will be sorted, but rejecting people on mass is so dodgy. Doubt I'll use them again.

'I made this order because of the 25% cashback advertised on OzBargain. I am shocked at how little success people are getting with this cashback, and how much you are rejecting peoples' missing cashback claims.

This is simply not good enough. I've used CashRewards in the same setup for years (I disable adblocker, turn off my VPN, etc) and they have accurately tracked it each time without fault. Offering a near parallel experience, why is this experience lacking relatively?

You're going to have to come good on this, or stand to lose thousands and thousands of customers in the Oceanic region. When we are making purchases guided by your offers, while a delay on tracking is to be expected, a rejection of the claim even when there is a Click History logged is absolutely unacceptable. We did the right thing, so please do the same.'

  • +1

Just received a rejection email, very unhappy. Used Shopback for the first time last week - was not nearly as careful when using it for a purchase from Myer for <$2 cashback, which tracked instantly. Followed everything to a T in this instance.

The updates the rep has posted indicate major technical issues with the tracking, which certainly does not inspire confidence that this issue is on my end. It seems like a major f-up on their own or BWS' part that they're attempting to shy away from rectifying.

    • +9

And what about the people who got rejected, twice?!? Once from submitting a missing claim and then again after following your advice to reply to that rejection email!

      • +2

Yes exactly, what about the many who were rejected when their clicks were clearly recorded on your system?

I followed your advice to reply to the rejection email as it seemed you were going to do the right thing but instead we were just sent another rejection email and ignored.

    • I ordered after 5pm (at 7pm). However my order was not tracked and my missing claim was rejected twice.
I replied to the second rejection 2 days ago and have not heard any further response from Shopback's customer service since.

    • I placed an order after 5pm and cashback didn't track. Submitted a missing claim 2 days ago and today got a reject message! I clicked through shopback and placed the order straight away how can this be rejected? I believe this is a scam for sure!!

  • +1

Tracked. I've had issues in the past. Normally I just wait for a tracking email before picking up the order. Otherwise I cancel and try again until tracking works.

  • +2

Shopback is refusing to apply the cash back on the GST-inclusive price, which as I understand it is against Australian law. Can anybody find details on the ACCC website where it explicitly states this? I know prices need to be inclusive of GST, and discounts can't be misleading, but can't see something that says discounts need to be on the total price…

    • -1

its not a discount, its a cashback promotion, and its also detailed in their terms. Not ACCC's problem you didnt read them.

"Cashback is not eligible if a purchase is made with the use of Giftcard
Extension tracking does not work for BWS, please clickthrough from ShopBack to ensure that your cashback is tracked.
Wholesale Purchases are not eligible for Cashback
Excludes taxes, fees or additional extras"

      • I did read them. It's just that T&C's cannot contradict the law. And my understanding is that Australian consumer law says that if you offer a discount (and ACCC considers cash backs a form of a discount) it has to be on the total price else it will be found misleading or deceptive.

          cashrewards doing the same thing,

im no lawyer, but if they are doing it as well, im going to lean towards its legal to do ex gst

          • +1

@Samsungnote10: Thanks, that helps. And perhaps I am wrong, but it's my genuine belief that it's not OK. It just seems misleading as a normal person would see '25% cashback' and legitimately assume it was off the total price. We just don't do pre-tax in Australia, it's all bundled together and treated effectively as combined.

            • @folktaliesin: I hear ya,

I too want to get 10% off price paid and not 9.1% or whatever it works out to be

  • My cashback tracked for this deal. But went to withdraw cash via bank transfer. SMS verification slow to receive and then just doesn't work. Try again and it says it's sent an email that I need to verify. No emails arrive. Wtf, why so hard ?

    • -1

Check your Spam/Junk folder to see if the verification email is there. If it's not there, pop over an email to [email protected] or a live chat session here and the team will try and manually send through the email again.

  • +1

My cashback also didn't track and when i tried contacting shopback i also got the same generic rejection email and i tried sending them a follow up email asking them a few other questions but it's like they didn't even read my email as i basically got the same response but in additional to them trying to blame me saying that i was the reason it didn't track even after i had adblock turned off and no VPN running. Very disappointing experience and i think i'll be sticking to just cashrewards from now on.

    • Yes, never using ShopBack again. I am cashing out my balance and I’m done.

Ironically even withdrawing my balance is taking many days. They really try hard not to pay out any money.

  • +1

Shopback rejected! ?!? Coincidence I think not. I only purchased a big spend $240 at BWS lure of 25% Shopback. I followed up got Shopbacks standard generic email-blame game. Emailed a second time 72 hours ago have not heard back. Site was crashing just before 8pm when I ordered wasn't sure it went thru but I got email confirmation at 7.58pm so I assumed it did. First time I have not got the Shopback, seems a very common theme. Any advice?

    • +1

Update re ShopBack, after writing to them again, my ShopBack account shows $30 for BWS purchase. Persistence pays off. Yay, I’m keeping my account.

  • After firmly responding to the rejection email it has now been successfully tracked - recommend anyone still without their cashback to be persistent.

  • Received a new update today. Shopback has been able to validate that I did purchase through BWS.

Due to a technical error with our partner’s system, we’re aware that Cashback for your order(s) at BWS may have been incorrectly rejected.

We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and confusion that’s occurred to you.We can now confirm that cashback statuses for these orders have now been changed back to ‘Pending’ and you won’t need to do anything further. We truly appreciate your support.

I am glad to have a good outcome in the end, but it does require a lot of persistence and offers mixed results.

    • Received exactly the same.

  • +2

I just received a rejection email, even though I am 100% sure I did everything correctly. They said my purchase "was not attributed to Shopback". What a crock.

  • +1

My order was not track, made a claim got the rejection email. So many people on ozbargain is reporting the same issue here.

  • +2

I also just got the rejection email on a $55 purchase. Click history shown and everything. Definitely followed proper clickthrough procedure.

Here’s what I’m about to do, and recommend everyone else also does:
Formally complain to BWS, stating the reason has to do with Shopback, and also notify them you are demanding a refund of the cashback amount, or you will have a chargeback processed on your credit card, and also be reporting them to the ACCC. Shopback’s response is bullshit and they shouldn’t be allowed to get away with it.

  • +4

The audacity to receive an email stating I did something wrong! I was very careful when placing my order. Not the first time I'm using Shopback!

Looks like the issue wasn't just with BWS. Shopback on Dan Murphy's also had a fair few people with rejections/no tracking.

Spoke to Shopback through live chat today and they responded with:

Due to a technical error with our partner’s system, we’re aware that Cashback for your order(s) at BWS may have been incorrectly rejected.
We have just been made aware of an on-going sales reporting issue from BWS end. This may have caused a delay in your order being tracked in the system,
I understand as well that you have gone ahead and submitted a missing cashback claim, please allow us some time to investigate this case internally with the team from BWS and we will get back to you at the soonest!

They have asked till Tuesday…..Not holding my breathe.

    • +4

I got the same response. I hope they get their act together soon as the only reason I purchased was because of the cashback flash sale, and if they're not going to honour it, I want to return the booze.

  • Mine tracked fair quick but tracked at 16%

    Sent them email.
    They asked for invoice

    Nothing since, after follow up

    • Speak of the devil
      Just received my additional cashbac
Edit: they also just gave me $2 compensation too :)

  • +1

Shopback rejected my cashback also. I am not taking this lightly…. Can we start a class action law suit against these thieves? I never shop at BWS since Dan Murphys is way better and now know why business like BWS should be banned from Ozbargain!!!

    Absolute thieves…..

    • Can we start a class action law suit against these thieves?

      really……

  • Anyone had an update? Had my support ticket closed without replies. :(

    • Hi MiCCAS, could you PM me your registered email address? Will check to see what's happened tomorrow.

  • +1

Well, thank you shopback for finally doing the right thing. My BWS cashback has been finally tracked with the correct amount. Let's just hope I can withdraw it on July 6.

  • My cashback has also been tracked finally! Giving ShopBack the benefit of the doubt here, sounds like BWS had some issues.

  • Same here, mine has finally been tracked. Thanks gotyourback

  • +1

Mine had been rejected and after complaining they offered $5 compensation. Mine has been tracked now (for the full amount - almost $30) as well - but only after I continued to object including sending them an e-mail with links to several Ozbargain posts for Shopback bonus offers where numerous people were complaining about Shopback. I highlighted that the problem was clearly theirs or their partners rather than my failure as they suggested. I suspect similar objections from others ultimately contributed to their review of our claims!

I was prepared to dump Shopback - had already disabled extension, unsubscribed e-mail etc because their actions made them untrustworthy. I will re-think but "once burned, twice shy".

  • +1

    Hey guys,

Thanks to those who have reached out to us about the issues you were having. We're aware this is an extra step for you and super appreciative of your efforts. This is a long one, so there is a TL;DR section at the end of this comment too for the main updates.

I wanted to again thank you for your patience and to also apologise. We take these issues very seriously and it's obvious we've let you down in this instance.

This is a final update regarding the BWS issue:

    • Those who had $0 cashback track should have the adjusted amount as a new entry in their accounts (unless you redeemed a gift card)

    • The batch of orders that we had to upload manually has already come through to those affected - in other words cashback should've tracked already

    • Anyone with rejected claims should have been dealt accordingly now and claims moving forward will be processed as per normal. If your claim was rejected, please respond back to the email you received about the rejection and the team will appeal this for you.

      • If you've been knocked back again, then send a PM over with your registered email address through so I can check your case to see the exact reasoning. Those pending a follow-up from the email after disputing the rejection - the team will be back to respond once there's an update on your case.

      • Many who appealed their claims earlier have now had these approved, and cashback was credited to all relevant accounts earlier yesterday afternoon (as confirmed by MiCCAS, shkippy etc).

We'd like to point out that we've also received some reasons for why tracking did not happen for some at all, and this is due to actually clicking through other coupon sites (they're publishers like us, and the the publisher who gets the last click gets the sale commissions), interacting with other browser extensions including Honey (similar case, they're a publisher too, and the last click gets the commissions) and ordering through the BWS app, although many of you I know would not have done those if you've appealed. That saying, we’ve credited these transactions out of goodwill even though they aren’t eligible.

Leaving that aside, I'm hearing that there have been some conflicting messages coming from us and given how supportive many OzBargainers have been of ShopBack, we owe you an explanation as to what went wrong. Just being fully transparent and keeping it simple, this came about due to the data not tracking correctly in BWS' tracking system.

For anyone that doesn't already know how your cashback is tracked - all brands on ShopBack work with a tracking tech partner which they use for all cashback sites in Australia. We get a feed from the tech partner that tracks all the transactions that come from ShopBack customers. As soon as these show up in our system we then get the money (commission) to award you with the cashback for your transaction.

During our birthday week, we've seen heaps of transactions through other merchants come through fine correctly. That said, I understand this deal affected quite a few OzBargainers and we’ve worked hard behind the scenes to resolve the issue. Also, our communication to you could have been better and we’ll be making some improvements based on your feedback.

All customers who were affected should now have their correct amounts showing, but for anyone who may still have a lingering issue, please shoot through a PM with the details.

I just wanted to let you know everyone at ShopBack cares about your experience with us and we’re truly sorry for dropping the ball twice (this, and Dan Murphy's). As mentioned before, we only make money if your transactions track correctly so if you ever have any issues please reach out and we'll do everything we can to find a resolution.

    TL;DR:

    • Those who had $0 cashback track should have the adjusted amount as a new entry in their accounts (unless you redeemed a gift card)
    • The batch of orders that we had to upload manually has already come through to those affected - in other words cashback should've tracked already
    • Those who appealed their claims earlier have now had these approved, and cashback was credited to all relevant accounts earlier yesterday afternoon
    • If you are still pending a resolution with your BWS rejected cashback after reaching out to [email protected], feel free to PM me your registered email address and I’ll check the status.
    • Still trying to get my cashback. Have sent the rep an email with my details
