  • I can't see it anywhere, so are we OK to buy products using gift cards again?

Or was that just cashrewards. I can't remember which stopped it

    • +2

Confirming that gift cards cannot be used as a payment method to stack with cashback, whether it's partially or fully used as a payment method. The page will be updated once the promo starts.

      • +1

are wow rewards card and employee discount cards eligible?

        • Woolworths Rewards card discounts are fine, employee discounts no.

          • +1
            • @d-hunterz: Do I need to remove my employee reward to get that cashback working??
Cause the rewards get auto added..

              • +1

@Ksavshs: Yes. Assuming it might be linked to your BWS account or Woolworths Rewards number? If that's the case you may need to checkout as a guest/without your Woolworths Rewards number to remove it.

                • @gotyourback: Why aren't you supporting staff? That is a new one.

                  • @YOTR: This isn't our decision, this is BWS setting these rules out.

                    • +1

@gotyourback: It doesn't state this in any T+Cs that I can see anywhere? What are you going to do with staff orders where they have used their card?

How is this not in the title or description!

    • +1

      australian eastern standard time

    • If it's 4-8pm 21.04 (like right now) Shopback is only showing 2% :(

  • +2

Yes, would it be interesting to know if wish cards can be used to purchase.

    • +5

      From cash rewards site

      "Special Terms
Effective 26/02/20, BWS online orders paid partially or in full with any gift cards will be ineligible for Cashback."

Don't see that anywhere on shop back so just them It seems

      • Usually they have to abide by the same rules so I would be surprised if ShopBack allowed payments by gift cards to be eligible.

        • Yeah, I agree.
I wonder if they'll update the info page before this deal goes live, just to clarify

    • Very interested in clarification on this. "Gift card purchases unless otherwise stated" aren't allowed but is that BUYING gift cards or using gift cards?

    • +1

Hey all, confirming that gift cards cannot be used as a payment method to stack with cashback, whether it's partially or fully used as a payment method. The page will be updated once the promo starts.

Can we do multiple transactions to add up to $30 cap or need to be in one trasaction?

        • +1

You can do multiple transactions or just the one transaction.

          • @gotyourback: Rep, still says 2%?

            • @Nuggets: Due to caching, you may not see it straight away but it's safe to shop still.

          • +1

@gotyourback: Is it a total cap of $30, or a cap of $30 per transaction (multiple transactions allowed)?

            • @MJ1: This. Id like to know as well

            • +1

@MJ1: You can make multiples if you wish - it's a transaction cap.

              • @gotyourback: OK nice - so I could put through 4 x $100 orders and I would receive 4 x $25 = $100 cash back?

                • +1

                  @MJ1: Yup sure thing!

  • Great cashback increase!!

  • Time to boost my booze

    2) WINE 12 bottles
    3) CASK WINE 2 casks (not exceeding 10L)
    4) SPIRITS 2 bottles (not exceeding 2L)
    5) PREMIX/ RTD 2 cases (24pk or 30pk or 4x mixed 6 pk)
    6) CIDER 2 cases (24pk or 30pk or 4x mixed 6 pk)

    Source: https://bws.com.au/help/bws-message

Note the stricter WA limits have been rescinded today, so the above now also applies to WA.

    • +3

      per transaction

All that does is makes the free delivery target annoying.

  • +2

Any good deals? I notice 2 for 1 wines, which some look decent.

  • +1

Can U keep ordering seperate transactions once U reach the $30 limit

  • +4

The spirit and beer specials seem expensive. Did alcohol tax go up again?

    • +9

Yeah - seems very expensive. Eg. Carlton Dry is $52 (with a "Save $7" icon too)… so is their regular price $59 there as such? At Dan's its $46.90.
Every beer I spot checked was similar (extra $4+ more expensive than Dan Murphy)

The cashback saves things though but still would have been amazing with cashback on Dan level pricing.

      • +13

        Coopers Sparkling Ale (24 x 375mL)
        BWS = $60 (save $10)
        Liquorland = $59 (regular price)
First Choice Liquor = $59 (regular price)
        Dan Murphy's = $58.95 (regular price)

Yeah, BWS often jacks up their prices so they can pretend they're giving you a great discount. Aren't their marketing people such clever bunnies? Even when you "save $10" at BWS, you still end up paying more than their main competitors at normal prices (yeah, I know, DM is part of the same conglomerate).

        • +3

If you can make it to a big box liquor retailer then you should just go there. I wouldn't expect convenience format stores to be the same price. They're two different businesses. It's a bit like comparing the prices of Costco with 7-11.

        • +1

It’s $57 on BWS website for coopers sparkling, if I get 25% cash back then my slab is $42.75

I found cheapest was $52 at Dan murphys for a slab of 24 cans

Why is this a bad deal?

      • +3

Furphy's is not bad value for $48 ($47 at Dan's) (VIC pricing). Or Moon Dog Old Mate (6 Pack) for $19 ($19.99 at Dan's)

      • Dan Murphy and BWS owned by Woolies but one is discounting and other is price gouging

    • +3

Sailor Jerry seems well priced. $58 for a 1L bottle. Same bottle at Dan Murphy's is $70.

    • The wine too: Compared the same bottles to the recent First Choice deal.

  • Spirits…. Jim Bean 700Ml - $40 at BSW vs $37.95 at Dan Murphy…. the 25% saves you $10 on the BWS price …

    even the 1 Ltr has a significant price difference - 51.95 @ DM and 62 @ BWS.

AND YET BOTH OWNED BY WOOLWORTHS

I would assume they don't price match ??

    https://www.afr.com/companies/retail/woolworths-bws-learns-n…

'BWS has higher gross margins than Dan Murphy's, because prices are higher, but so, too, is its cost of doing business'

CRAP - BWS has smaller shops connected to a Woolworths store - unlike stand alone Dan Murphys.

    • +2

Smaller shops doesn't equal smaller costs.

    • +1

you pay more at BWS for the convenience of being next door to a supermarket.

  • -4

Cashback showing as 2% i must of missed the boat !

  • +2

Woops - I will go back to sleep - thanks guys :)

  • +1

Stone and Wood Pacific Ale still $78 for now!

  • Plenty of the wine is the same price at Dan's, then you get 25% cashback! That's pretty good value to me, especially for items that would never go on sale or discount.

  • +12

    BWS prices are just insane:

4 pack of Koyomi Shochu Blended Yuzu & Lime Highball 250mL

    $20 at BWS: https://bws.com.au/product/57522/koyomi-shochu-blended-yuzu-…
    $18 at Liquorland: https://www.liquorland.com.au/spirits/koyomi-highball-4-pack…
    $17 at Dan Murphys: https://www.danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_57522/koyomi-shochu…

A week ago, Dan Murphys were selling it for $15.

The 25% cashback will make BWS prices cheaper, but it's not as incredible a deal as it first appears, specially given the waiting period for getting the cashback back.

    • omg those highballs are tremendously delicious and refreshing beverages

    • +3

If you think a $2 price difference is "insane" then your mind must be constantly blown by reality…

    • +2

You complain that a $2 difference is insane than complain that the 25% will make BWS cheaper but its not an incredible deal.

So BWS would now be $15 and Dans would be $17. You would be getting it $2 cheaper.

$2 cheaper apparently not an "incredible deal", but paying $2 more results in the price being "insane"

    • I think the Koyomi 4 Packs are now $16 on BWS, or at least the Blood Orange & Bitters and Yuzu & Lime flavours are showing on mine. Any recommendations?

  • +4

    Hogs 3 bourbon $40 at BWS, $44.99 at Dan's

  • +1

I love how most of the whiskeys I'm after are unavailable. macallan, hakushu etc. Makers mark 46 at $60 then shopback would've been a steal. It's unavailable now.

    • +5

Let me know if you find any single malts that are worthwhile.

      • +1

Ended up getting the Macallan 12 Year Old Triple Cask Matured. The talisker 10yr is also a good option for those looking. Avoid the Dalwhinnie 15 year as it's almost the same price with discount from Dan Murphy.

    • +1

Just buy from another store? I just picked up a Makers 46 @ $45

      • Still very little avalable.

  • +3

    Any beer recommendations?

I have used Quarantine to try different beers and it has been quite…expensive. From the ones I have tried in order of my preference:-
    1. Crankshaft Bentspoke
    2. Biggie Feral
    3. Balter IPA (hair raising experience)
    4. Bridge road
    5. Single fin/GOAT/Kaiju Krush

    Hope this helps someone.

    • You seem to like IPAs. If you can track down a Big Shed Boozy Fruit NEIPA, I recommend giving that a go.

      • I couldnt see any hazy IPAs or NEIPAs on the BWS site - did you have any luck?>

    • +1

If you like Biggie Juice, give Feral's War Hog a go. It's a batch release so not as readily available (may not get it through BWS) but is worth a go if you find it. ABV is higher at 7.5% so enjoy it in the comfort of your own home (where else will you be anyway). Well worth it.

You'll be able to get Hop Hog through BWS, which is a pretty citrusy, delicious Pale Ale.

    • +1

I've really enjoyed the Ballast Point Sculpin. I prefer it over the Crankshaft, but both are delicious. I think i'll be picking up a case of the Crankshaft (<$3 per beer) and maybe try something else. My flatmate really recommends Modus Operandi.

  • stone and wood pacific ale/ green lager either same price or already cheaper than all other major bottleshop. 25% CB makes it a lot cheaper than others.

    [makers 46 $60](https://bws.com.au/product/767547/makers-46-kentucky-bourbon… seems cheap)

  • +4

If you like gin, Roku $55 & Tanquaray $45 are reasonably priced before the CB

    • That is good and I need more gin, thank you!

      • 25% off? Get something fancy. Forty Spotted, 78 Degrees, West Winds, Patient Wolf (my fav).

        • +1

Never heard of patient wolf, I'll give it a go.

          • @Phoenixzeus: If you don't like it, I'll have some more!

        • All of those - I'll also shout Melbourne Gin Company, Tanqueray 10, and The Botanist

    • Tanquaray 10 for $51 after CB - Thankyou……

      • +1

Shows as $92 before cash back

        • Odd - I bought for $68

  • 7 Jim Beam bourbon cans for $23.50 seems like a pretty good deal + 25% cash back.

  • Apologies just realised how the referal stuff works finally after many years on here lol!

Googd time to grab a bottle of Blantons I think

  • +1

Coopers Stout is $56.25 (for me in NSW) after cash back.

Not as good as this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/448469 - but the best it's been since then (I think).

    Winter is coming.

    • I still look back fondly to that deal. Their stout is the best beer in the Coopers line up.

      • Same, finally finished the case last weekend…it lasted a long time!

        • Mine didn't quite last that long!

I do have a six pack of stubbies from last year sitting around though. A friend told me that they taste better after a year, so he always buys a year ahead. So I've kept a six pack of last year's to compare to this year's.

Strictly for research purposes, of course. It's science.

  • Any whisky's worth buying?

  • anyone can suggest me an entry level red wine?

    • jacobs creek double barrel shiraz - 2 for $40, or roughly 2 for $30 with the shopback. Easy drinking stuff

    • +1

      Have you tried anything?
Depends what variety you like? Merlot, Cab Sav, Shiraz - see here https://bit.ly/2wZp0lG

      Maybe start with a Merlot.

Personally i like a big bold McLaren Vale Shiraz.

  • Can you use a staff card or does that make it ineligible

  • Hi, can one shop back account do multiple transactions for this deal, or just one? Thanks!
