My experience: I first discovered the Signature Rose and Lychee cake back in 2017 at my local cafe. It was so delicious I had to ask the cafe owner if they had made it themselves or if it was supplied to them by someone else. The cafe owner told me it was made by a local small business called "Annie Makes Cakes". I personally liked this cake better and found it to be better value than the Black Star Pastry Strawberry and Watermelon cake (of which I was and still am a big fan).

Since then I've exclusively bought my cakes from Annie Makes Cakes to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, work events etc. Every family member, friend or colleague who I've fed these cakes to has loved them, or at least that's what they've told me (thankfully also including my boss at work).

Their customer service has also consistently been very fast, responsive and helpful for me.

Deal/Discount They've currently got a 30% off Easter special so I wanted to share the love with this deal and contribute back to the OzBargain community. I'm not sure when this deal expires. I've never seen them offer a discount before, so it's a good time to try them out and at the same time support a local small business during these challenging times.

Prices: Price of cakes vary depending on type of cake you order and size. Best to look on their website and customise to what you want.

Pickup/Delivery: They offer pickup from Alexandria or can deliver to your home/workplace. They may be able to offer a discount on the delivery fee if there are multiple orders in your area - best to contact them to find out.

Disclosures: I've got no ties to Annie Makes Cakes, no financial incentives, and gain no benefit by posting this deal. If you have any questions, you should enquire with them directly. I'm just a happy customer posting my first OzBargain deal for what I sincerely believe to be a delicious product.

Happy eating cake!

    $40 for 14cm cake ???

    • Similar/better priced than Black Star Pastry cakes. Plus a 30% discount on top with this current special.

Depends on what you look for in a cake. Quality vs quantity.

You can get a large cake at costco which serves 48 people (at 5x5cm servings) for $30 if you are purely looking for quantity.

      • $2/bag of flour…

        • +2

          if you can find any

          • @fedaykin: Local bakery is selling 10kg bag for $20… so plenty available.

Btw, that was in response to JV's comment on "value".

  • To get 30% off you need to spend over $50

    • Yep, that's what the discount offer says on their website.

If there's a cake you like under $50, they may still be able to apply the 30% discount. They're very responsive and genuinely helpful. All I can say from my own experience is best to contact and discuss with them directly if you're interested in purchasing from them.

Upsize signature cake to 18 cm = $70
        Add custom message (Mmm,cakes) = $2.50
        Less 30% discount = $50.75

  • Does anyone know anywhere in Victoria are doing specials for cakes? Men's got a craving

Flat rate delivery for North Shore Sydney is $62…

    • Definitely worth contacting them (email/sms/call) to enquire about delivery cost.

If they have other deliveries in your area, then the cost of delivery is nowhere near that much. They may also be able to help by offering you delivery date options where they already have other deliveries schedulued in your area.

  • When does this expire? Her cakes look great

    • username suites :)

Ingredients/layers of the cakes are mentioned at the beginning of the post (from their website):

      Rose and Lychee -
Light | Fruity | Refreshing | Textural | Creamy Flavours

Rose scented chantilly/lychee jelly centre/hazelnut dacquoise and feuilletine crunch base/rose petal to garnish.

      Strawberry and Pistachio -
Nutty | Fruity | Refreshing | Creamy Flavours

Vanilla bean chantilly/strawberry jelly centre/pistachio dacquoise/fresh strawberries, and dried rose and osmanthus petals to garnish

  • It seems the cake is mostly made of cream layers.

  • 32cm cake $220 wow…. ummmm no way overpriced… Might be ok but not $220 ok LoL.. Take 30% off which is $66 and still $150+ cake still no…

If you want a decent cake (I'm in no way associated with but have bought a couple times before) not the cheapest but decent quality try loomas cakes..

    • According to their website the 32cm cake has 40-45 portions. So that size is probably more suited to a large event. About $3.50/portion with the discount.

      "Individual slice 6cm x 6cm (1 portion)
      14cm x 14cm (4-6 portions)
      18cm x 18 cm (10-12 portions)
      25cm x 25 cm (20-25 portions)
      32cm x 32cm (40-45 portions)"

      • based on that, each portion is about 4cm x 5cm in size

      • -1

Matchstick box is 5 cm long.
So your slice will be just a little bit bigger.

I'd say the price is in line with the cost of ingredients and amount if effort required.
It's not just a few cups of flour, sugar and butter baked in a tin.
An ingredient like a vanilla bean costs $3 each.

  • Sponge with cream flavoured cakes. Not my cup of tea

  • Tried them before when they had a pop up in Myer food court.

The cakes are mousse. I bought the 15 slice mini pack so that’s about $5 a slice with delivery (because it got split). Happy there’s nice elaborate cakes still delivering across Sydney! The only other option is a Woolworths cake or ..baking.

    • -2

i think that is being for a lack of a word dramatic by saying woolworths or baking there are plenty of options, like i said try loomas other places undoubtedly one other comes to mind is nogas in bondi as well..

Hi Op, just wanted to comment and say thanks for the deal. Bought the Signature Rose & Lychee cake (18cm x 18 cm) on Wednesday and picked it up today. The wife and I think that it is a very nice cake, probably our most favorite cake now, we both like it over the Blackstar watermelon cake for sure. We have never heard of them before and the $21 off made a big difference in trying them out. I can say that the quality and ingredients of the cake matches the price tag and would be buying from them again. cheers.

  • Not a very good experience with customer service here! Got put off from buying. It's a shame as I was looking forward to trying their cakes!
