  • Good price, but do I really need six of them?

If it's for a NAS then no, they're likely to be SMR drives. No bueno.

      • I am looking to purchase an 8TB drive. What would you recommend at this stage? It's not going in a NAS. If the drive starts to fail, will SMR affect the transfer process to another drive? Thanks!

Edit: forgot to say it's just for bulk storage and I will have a 7200RPM drive separate for games. I was looking at the WD Elements however saw someone linked this below which wouldn't require shucking.

To be honest, either of those would do fine for regular bulk storage. No probs.

This eBay listing is for one 8TB drive, not 6 BTW :)

  • Too bad they don’t have any 8tb nas drives in stock.

  • Is it just me or I bought my Ironwolf mid 2019 for $270 each at Computer Alliance ebay. With the price raise nowadays, a ironwolf or red at $310 is reasonable as a deal but BarraCuda at this price?

    Cheaper in Amazon?

Seagate Barracuda Internal Hard Drive 8TB https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07H289S7C/ref=cm_sw_r_sms_apa_…

Edit: I had prime, I dunno if it's free delivery without prime tho

      Shipped from Amazon US.

      • Well yeah, maybe for those who can wait around for it without needing it ASAP.Kind of like me =)

Geez what has happened to hard disk prices. I bought an ironwolf for $310 in march. Now I wish I'd got as couple

AUD tanking, shipping prices increasing and supply restrictions. We might see a decrease in price again since the AUD has gone back up in the last few weeks.

Um this is in no way a deal.

    ~$240 pre-covid.

    • that comment got negged, but it leads to deal that is still $40 cheaper than the OP (not from AU though)

Wow that is expensive, I picked up 8 of the Ironwolf 8TB for under $300 each. They are rock solid in 24/7 applications. I dont know if I would want to use the standard Barracuda drives in that environment.
