Not bad for Amazon GC considering there is no cashback on Amazon purchase anymore.

    • Entertainment Book has 4% discount on Amazon cards

      • +9

Just checked - 3%? There is a 1.25% processing fee too

  • If you use gift cards to pay, do you still get CR/Shopback and discount codes?

    • Generally no

    • +1

Yes for gc payment and depends on if discount code is stated on the cash back website

    • +1

No CR or SB on Amazon AU as of late anyway

I stopped buying eBay and amazon gift cards, they pushed me purchasing stuff which I would have avoided. Saving was not huge compared to spending. Good deal for those who are good in self control and buy only what they need and that's not me.

    • +34

OzB is not good for anyone without self control… lol…

      • +3

Yeah that’s me, last time I bought a $120 Kathmandu jacket impulsively. Oh huge savings here I come.

        • +4

Same here. I buy a lot of stuff that I never knew I needed.

      • I reduced my purchases on Oz Bargain by now checking the site only once a week (Hello Ozb Saturday). I miss some deals that expire quickly (although I have the home page hide expired and sold out deals).

I then also set email alerts for products I’m keen to buy at the right price (10TB WD HDD for Linux Distro’s)

    • +6

if u are reading /posting here I am sure you dont have self control anyway :)

    • +4

"got one already but bought another 2 cause it's such a good deal". I love a bargain like everyone else but hate seeing these comments on things like screwdriver sets or anything that you definitely do not need more than one of. so yeah, I agree with you on your point of not spending is the better way to score a bargain

As a reminder, you can instantly buy a gift card (3% discount) for Amazon using Suncorp rewards. It is faster and easier than waiting for a cashback but one 1% less.

  • How does it work if I have a $100 card and buy something for $20. Will there be $80 in balance on card?

    • +1

      Yes

    • And can I add 2 cards if an item is $200?

      • +4

for amazon? you can load up several cards into your account gift card balance.
I did it back when there was a (?10%) cash back promo last year on amazon cards and only just finished using them all last week. Just loaded them all in on day one and didnt need to worry about them.

        • For eBay too.

          • @NigelTufnel: How do you load for eBay? I’ve never seen it before. Can it be done on mobile app or only desktop?

            • @tokziktigah: You can add them at check out and then any unused balance stays on your accont. Any refunds in the future also automatically come back to your eBay account. Catch is you can't split eBay GF betweeen multiple accounts as a result.

  • $100 GC OOS

  • Thanks OP. I don't have suncorp rewards and often buy stuff from Amazon AU GC.

    • And Shopback acknowledged purchases email within minutes!! Good work!

  • Thanks. I never bothered before since paying by GC means no cashback…
But now I have a small incentive to get these cards.
$100 fleabay and amazeon cards were still in stock for me.

  • +2

It says 4% for gift cards, but also 1.5% for group B, which also lists gift cards?

    • It would be great to get some clarification from SB on which giftcards are at 4% and which are at 1.5%

    • I can confirm the eBay cards are 4%

    • +1

Please disregard the gift card mention in Group B - gift cards are certainly 4% (from 1.5%) today and tomorrow.

    Two comments
    - Anyone know if you can use the Amazon Gift Cards for purchasing Amazon US product?
    - Westfield gift cards can be used as eftpos gift cards to shop pay at many other retailers (An old hack). I bought some during the last sale and used them to pay council rates etc, just don't show the retailer you are using them when paying. Hope it still works.

    • +1

I think you can if you are purchasing a Amazon US product via Amazon AU

    • Re Westfield, it does (I've done the exact same thing) but looks like someone like you beat me to all the Westfield cards!

      • Normally you'd be on the money, but yeah I haven't bought any today

    • How to use it to pay council rate? I dont see gift card option on the bill. Thanks

        • Thanks John. Is there a surcharge fee for using the giftcard? Normally council charge 1-2% for using debit /credit card

          • @hoangdekiem: I've never done it, but I assume so (if it works). I don't think you are understanding the situation here?

You are basically using the gift card outside of it's intended use, because although they say "only to be used at Westfield", they haven't restricted it (unless it's been fixed now).

So you would be up for any surcharges associated with using a "debit/credit card", because basically the merchant cannot identify it as a Westfield gift card and thinks its a debit/credit card.

It would be like trying to use an opal or fuel card for anything but travel or fuel (but I assume those don't work, because no one has posted about it).

            Make sense?

            • @John Kimble: yes it does. Appreciate your reply John

              • @hoangdekiem: Do they even have CVVs printed on them? Most online purchases require a CVV to be entered…

                • @John Kimble: I dont know. it is sold out. cant buy any. i am asking for future deals

                  • +1

@hoangdekiem: Hi All, When I've used it I did so at an Austpost LPO, no fees/surcharges from what I can remember…that was earlier this year. the Westfield card is essentially a preloaded debit card, think you press either savings or cheque then the associated pin number. Has to be used in store can't be used online if you intend to use for this purpose. thanks

                • +1

@John Kimble: Can't use online. You'd need to pay in person at council office or a post office.

  • +4

Thanks OP will pick up some Amazon GC's.
FYI anyone interested, these are physical cards and took weeks to come last time and came in a huge box/envelope which was ridiculous. When you get them you just input the number or scan into your Amazon account, very easy to add.

    • This is a crucial point that wasn't mentioned anywhere else, so thanks! I assumed they were digital and I could use to buy something today.

  • +2

    eBay OOS

  • I'm new to buying gift card. It seems like the price is the same. How does cashback work?

    • +1

Do u have a Shopback account then long and visit Au post website through the ShopBack. pay the full amount. later u can get cashback from Shopback.

    • +1

So you sign up to the cashback website. When ready to buy you click thru the cashback site, buy the product, then a few days to weeks later the % is added to your account.

You can then withdraw that 4% to your bank account.

      • +1

Thanks, guys. I appreciate your help. Bought 500$ amazon GC.

  • Thanks
    Got some
And also found aust post website very easy to use as well

  • +1

    Hi all,

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I understand:

    • Shopback only applies cashback rate after GST component is removed
    • Therefore a $100 will be $90 (exc. GST), then 4% on $90
    • This will come out to be 3.6% (which is still not bad)
    • Correct.

    • +6

Cashback for gift cards applies to the full amount (not the pre GST amount), so it's 4% still.

      • +1

        @gotyourback

        Thanks for the clarification

    • There's no GST on gift cards

  • One of the issue holding me back on buying GC from AU Post
is they are physical gift card and it takes time to be received from post
and it also required to call their CS hotline to activate

So for a 3.6% discount (CB after GST) with lots of procedures
I do prefer to get digital GC from Suncorp app which has 3% discount
also able to set any preferred amount and get it instantly

    • +2

Cashback for gift cards applies to the full amount so it's still the full 4%.

    • Never had to call to activate.

      • +2

Not sure about all types of GC
but last time I ordered Amazon GC requires activation

        • +1

yep, I've had to call for Amazon GC and the one time I did they struggled to find the order so took 10+mins to actually activate

          • @SBOB: Is that on $50 cards or higher? I think I've read that the larger cards ie $200 need activation over phone, not that you can buy here anyway.

      • Not correct.

  • is it UpTo 4% or 4% ???

  • Ebay gift cards out of stock.
Westfield gift cards out of stock.

  • +2

ebay and amazon $100 are out of stock

    • +2

      $50 ebay too.

And I have a feeling before I have the money for the Amazon $50 cards, they're gonna be sold out too.

Shame because I'm going to be spending like $5000 on amazon an $1000 on ebay. So any % savings are big savings.

  • yeah if it was a digital gc i'd buy..

  • eBay $50 randomly appears in stock, then out of stock.
grabbed a few when it appeared.

  • Good deal for eBay. However, won't the Amazon gift cards become somewhat obsolete once Amazon cashback is back?

    • +1

      doubt they'll it'll be back.
I don't see any reason for them to do it.

      • they'll bring it back*

Must have had a stroke while typing that.

  • One advantage of this over Suncorp, apart from the extra 1%, is that you can pay with Amex. Thanks OP.

  • +1

    Hey ShopBack!

Is there a limit on the number of Gift Cards we can purchase?
Can we checkout using Paypal Checkout instead of Credit Card?

    • +2

I can confirm, I always used PayPal to check out and got cash back.

    • +2

No limit on gift cards and we've personally used PayPal at checkout many times without issues :)

  • Both $50 and $100 eBay cards are out of stock.

    • +1

I don't think they were ever in stock.

I looked at them earlier in the week and they were showing out of stock then.

  • How long does delivery take generally?

    • +1

Took 2 weeks for me last time I bought these

  • amazon one doesn't work?

  • +8

I see a bonus $3 cashback through the app with activation and a minimum $50 spend this morning.

    • +1

      Thanks for the heads up!

    • +1

      Thanks

    • I went ahead and purchased the Gift Cards yesterday, not even thinking that ShopBack would add another bonus for customers purchasing. Maybe in future I'll adopt the wait and see approach.

  • the westfeild and ebay cards sold out quickly. is using paypal okfor shoback?

    • +1

They didn't sell out quickly. They were never in stock.

  • Anyone has problem getting cash back from Auspost orders? I put 2 separate orders, all got rejected by Shopback.

    • Yes, I got this: "We have investigated and found that the merchant has deemed ShopBack ineligible to earn commissions on this transaction which results in us being unable to pass the cashback along to you."

  • +1

Ordered on 25/4/20, recieved on 1/5/20. Quickest delivery for these gift cards so far.

  • Query for the regular GC buyers from Aussie Post.
I purchsed eBay and Amazon in one order.
I received eBay only this week, no mention of split order, but the letter inside only noted the eBay.
Presumably I will get another email notification and my Amazon cards in the next week or so?
Don't suppose we can call anyone to check in this enviroment.

  • Did anyone check the balance? I ordered 2 amazon and 2 ultimate. Only one amazon is valid. Gonna call them tomorrow.

    • I tried to redeem two of my giftcards (Amazon) only one of them worked. I called them up and they have put that note on my order number and have requested I send the faulty card back for them to replace.

      • Yeah same here. I just called. They can active ultimate card. But can’t do the amazon one. Need to send it back.

        • It seems the automatic activation before posting only applicable to the card on the top of the stack.
